The total war AI tend to outright copy-paste the tactics or maneuvers done by the player that end up giving them huge tactical advantage, learned it way back when during the times of rome total war. Basically, I had this habit of repeatedly ordering my troop to go inside a city after the gate was destroyed as to spread whatever unit what guarding the place (albeit at a great cost in life, it wasn't that efficient of a tactic and could easily screw you over), but as the rushing unit would get stopped at nearly every attempt, I resorted to simply spamming the move order until it worked. Everything was fine and dandy afterward, if not that siege were now a absurd lag fest as the AI would spam the move order like mad men to get into the place, like you'd get the camera close to the unit being rushed in and you could hear the sound cue/order being given tens of times a second, continuously.

Hey that tip about Skaven army builds is really handy. Do you think you could make an army building guide for each faction? Or each lord if the bonuses are worth it. I know SOME doomstacks, but idk what other armies are viable or if I am playing a lord that cant doomstack (using throgg instead of Wulfrik for Mammoth Stack for example) Love the content! Guides take a lot of time and effort to make, they don't have good viewership, and they become outdated relatively quickly, so Legend doesn't really want to do them. If you need advice, I suggest watching the live streams, they show what exactly one has to do as each facion (except Throgg, but fuck Throgg).

yeah, as hachimaro said the reason you don't see a lot of guides on army building outside of basics is because every patch pretty much has major changes to army stats so a guide will very quickly become non accurate or flat out give wrong info due to changes which can screw newbie players up.

In regards to the chance of losing a catapult when retreating. Your estimation is incorrect. Each unit has a consistent and independent chance of 10% with 3 units. So this is a binary distribution with n=3, p=.1. So the probability of losing less than or equal to one: 97%. Losing exactly one: 24%. Losing less than one (none): 73%. Losing more than one: 2%. I typically get upwards of four heroes: 2 Plague Priests, an assassin, and a warlock engineer. Then the rest is a matter of preference in terms of the lord and the extra unit. What I've found to be excellent in terms of versatility is this: Warlock Master on a Doomwheel, 2 Plague Priests (Optional Plague Furnace), a Warlock Engineer completely kitted out for supporting the army, Assassin with Assassin Trophies, a regular Doomwheel (You can go Abom or another weapon team if you'd like), 2 Poison Wind Mortars, 4 Ratling Guns, 2 Warplock Jazzrails, 2 Warplightning Cannons, 4 Plagueclaw Catapults. I've wrecked multiple stacks with that army, and the only concern is running out of Vermintide on the Plague Priests and ammo on everything else. With Clan Skryre, you don't have to worry about running out of ammo on the Ratling Guns, and the Warlock Engineer provides a fuck ton of ammo for your army. The only real issue with the army is limited uses of Vermintide, cooldowns for it, and running out of ammo. That and overwhelming you with cav, cav are your bane when massed.

Skavenslaves are the only melee infantry you should recruit. The only purpose of skaven melee infantry is to die, so that your missile units live. Use the cheapest ones available

It's holding alt and left-click dragging the units if I remember right. Check the settings, there should be an extra-tab under controls which shows various special unit movement options like this one.

@@samarkand1585 ​ the column was useful in several situations, it was good for marching, it was good for attacking fortified positions, it was good for keeping rookies in a fight, it was good at pushing right up to the enemy which when the enemy were inexperienced or poorly trained often resulted in victory and it was good for absorbing large amounts of casualties, however against a well trained line its flaws became readily apparent, ie the fact that it can barely fire back and that the same absorbing of casualties also vastly increases the number they take and as such whenever they went up against a well trained line not only would they get slaughtered marching towards the line and the well trained troops wouldn't break on contact resulting in devastating losses that were not only infeasible in battle but resulted in the french losing hundreds of thousands of men in spain to a british force of around 20000

At rank 13, warlords can get a skill that gives +40% income to settlement buildings, or something like that. I don't remember the name, ravenous expansion or something. If you do this a shit ton of times, your economy will skyrocket. If you disband the warlord after giving the trait you won't have to pay for him but still get the skill

What the hell, it is still possible to do this cheese? I tried shortly after Prophet and Warlock came out when playing Ikit on legendary/VH (also against 2 Bretonnian armies), and despite suffering hardly any damage in battle, my army got almost wiped out by the retreat itself. cant you just concede defeat from the menu than doing all this routing it loooks stupit to me and you have less casualties , or it isnt availabe on harder difficulty?!

Dwarfs are definitely one of the more defensive factions

Defending as Bretonnia is good for mixed vs mixed forces (so before doomstacks), since moving infantry take real damage on a charge, and if the AI commit all their melee-troops against your peasant-line like they usually do when attacking, your cav is free to circle round or come out of hiding and clear out their missile-troops before rearcharging their line for moralbrakes repeatedly.

if you concede defeat you will take extra damage. retreating manually and you take no damage.
