What you see is what you got with George. He was a crusty codge who spewed the truth with a free hand, a single-minded explorer of the mysteries in the riffles, the eddys, the bankside crannies. He strode unapologetically and I loved every moment I spent with him and his brother-on-the-water, Joe Humphreys. Thank you fo your comment. So glad you were touched as I was by the humanity of this man.

I have had a similar experience meeting a fly legend, as Joe did, on my local stream at the age of 12 or 13.

We were sure this pilot would grab the attention and commitment of network producers for a series featuring the greats of the sport rather than the cliché how-to-tie-flies or look-at-the-big-trout-I-caught, but it didn't. We wanted to capture, the spirit, their love of the sport and their respect for the environment. George, Joe and Jimmy were the quintessential gentlemen. Lots of stories and anecdotes off-camera that filled our days shooting with them. It was an honor, a privilege and joy for me to write, direct and get to know these men, their character, and the civil gentility with which they carried themselves. I am so delighted the LEGENDS OF FLY FISHING has offered you and the thousands who've seen it a slightly different facet of the contribution of these two men and the brotherly relationship they shared.

There are few humans I've come across in 79 years who affected me deeply with such civility, intelligence, humor, wit and kindness. It is impossible not to be inspired by him. He carries a flame of hope deep within that illuminates all who come in contact with him.

So nice of you. This was a project born out of love. For the craft and art of fly fishing. For George, Joe, and Jimmy. Spent my life as a "hired gun" writing and directing videos and films for corporates, but this...this was pure joy. George was his usual crusty ol' fart, hard-nosed and immensely loveable. Your words bring me joy.
