This was a tough episode to listen to. Because of my love of peaches, this part of the story really put a burr under my saddle, not to mention the constant & continued abuse of the native peoples. My ancestors walked the Trail of Tears. I can certainly relate to the Navajo's "Long Walk".

I never understood why the reservations couldn't be made in their own territory or why we just couldn't leave friendly tribes alone. Never made since to me to move the Navajo, Nez-pierce, and several small coast tribes, from both coasts. Just so we could steal their land. They made treaties with us and helped us fight in several wars against the English, French and Spanish. Several tribes even welcomed us to settle on their lands and live with them, like the Killamook did. Just seems like our government isnt any different now than then I guess.

same now. in a year or 2 or 3 you won't believe what you will see done to us by our commies.

Heck the Nez Perce were super happy with their initial settlement treaty, so were the settlers. Then the US President overrides the Governor’s treaty and says “Actually that sacred land they said you could keep, the Wallowa Valley? We’re gonna take it instead.” I guess because the land was fertile, but nowadays barely anybody lives there. Such a horrible and pointless betrayal.

@@cielopachirisu929 so true, their was a little more too it then that, a couple of drunk Indians and a huge misunderstanding, then the major betrayal. And of course over selous Army commanders. Their were only a few people who didn't like them and wanted their land and horses, but there is always a bad group of people anywhere you go.
