Nice to see Clapton as a band member for a change, rather than a band leader - he does really well with a group of jazz greats :)

Hey there, this is Great Music! The Kings of their respective music and they all play together for the best in Jazz, Rock and Blues. This concert should have been another 2 hours long with Mr. Sample playing his "Crusaders" grooving hits, of course have Mr. Sanborn belt out all of his fantastic smooth and classic Jazz while Mr. Clapton brings it all in the show with some of his best Blues and Rock, while Steve and Marcus just provide that funky back beat. I wish everyone in the World can see and hear this special event, please tell the young ones to watch and enjoy. May God Bless all of these Masters of Music and their families! Peace and Love!

We know Eric's heart 'n' Soul is in the Blues but he really is shining here , he doesn't think of himself as a jazz player but, Damn ! . (We have to remember where it all came from) .

That's why Ginger Baker once said he and Jack Bruce think Eric is a jazz player because "jazz and blues are the same thing."

It is brilliant to see how Clapton navigates through the style which he has never played. It means you can stay who you are and articulate your brilliance. Just one strat, only one pedal, only one scale but touches your deepest feelings.

I first heard Steve Gadd on Al Di Meola's "Elegant Gypsy." I was Gaddified from then on! 🥁 I was a fan of Joe Sample and the Crusaders, Chain Reaction! 🎹 I can't remember where I first heard Marcus. I guess with Miles Davis. A constellation on bass! 🔊 ✨️ David Sanborn has played with so many people. Stunning. 🎷 The guy on guitar looks kind of familiar. He's not too shabby on the six string, electric and acoustic. 🎉 🎸 🎸

Four TOP Jazz\Fusion Kings ….. and a 5 Tone Pentatonic Noodler….
@dimstath75462 ай бұрын
How come these TOP musicians accepted to play with the noodler? A mystery. isn t it...Or maybe you re just deaf
@handle4332 ай бұрын
Hahaha pentatonic noodler but sold over 290 million records in his career. This was a step outside his comfort zone for sure, but his name fills the room. He also employs all these Jazz/Fusion Kings in his own band, paying them handsomely. There’s a reason they end the set with Layla…..
@fabiodwyer8964Ай бұрын
If you just heard pentatonic scales in his playing, you’re the one who needs to train your ears better… I’ve used to jam all the time over a bootleg version of this same video and ended up learning all the head melodies and a lot from Clapton’s solos as well. For a start, when he uses pentatonic scales (he actually uses the blue notes, so it’s technically an hexatonic scale), he always mix major and minor blues scales, generating a scale with root, 2, b3, 3(when it’s a major key), 4, b5, 5, 6, b7, plus he adds the b6 from aeolian in minor songs and the major 7 as a chromatic run from b7 to the root. That’s all the notes in the chromatic scale except the b2. Besides the fact that most of these melodies are diatonic. 11 notes, plus microtonal bending, so WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, DUDE???!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
@dimstath7546Ай бұрын
@fabiodwyer8964 I 'm a guitarist too. I approve this message.

GREAT band backing the most overrated guitarist of all time - I’m not trolling, expressing an honest opinion. Imagine this same band with Keb Mo, Buddy Guy (RIP) … ?
@kennethchia22932 ай бұрын
The band must hold him in high regard to have him in it. There is a reason why Clapton is revered by many greats including those names mentioned.
@u.l.a.design2 ай бұрын
Top-notch musicians like Steve Gadd and this band member understand Eric's talent and have admired it for decades, but the paradox is that the middle-aged, self-proclaimed jazz drummer is say clapton is overrated. It's like you're introducing yourself as an underdog trash musician who is the exact opposite of a top-notch musician like Gadd, do you notice? Is it impossible with that IQ?
