The whole thing about Master Looter being removed because of abuse is a massive smoke screen. Master Looter was removed to artificially slow the gearing process by forcing players into the utterly inane ilvl loot locking system of Personal Loot, in the hopes of increasing player retention by ensuring that they can't get the gear they want efficiently.

@@raphael2407 It's not just ML either. Everything about BFA just screams player retention. Having to regrind the same Azerite traits over and over (and Blizzard's baffling response to criticism about this, basically saying "tough, deal with it"), the 3 week "grace period" at the beginning of the xpac that wasn't at all designed to keep players subbed to avoid that 2nd month dropoff (yes, that was sarcasm), locking Azerite gear behind a weekly RNG loot crate....the list goes on and on. This is what happens when you care more about your shareholders than your player base. And yes, Ion, I am taking a very negative, critical stance on BFA. Because you're given me little reason not to.
@lustreaux

yep, it's obvious when you consider things like getting 1 less bonus rolll per week and no raid loot from the mission board anymore. another thing that baffles me is how they handled azerite from emissary quests. i was excited when they announced you'd be able to get it reliably from emissaries, but then disappointed again when i realized you could only get pieces from ONE dungeon from that emissaries' respective zone. who decided this? WHY? this means that since i am horde then there is no way to get any azerite from alliance zone dungeons, which is where most of the dungeons are. i can only get honorbound pieces which are pvp items. even though there are 3 dungeons in zul'dazar, i can only get pieces from atal'dazar. no motherlode and no king's rest.

If you think about it, BfA absolutely REEKS of corporate meddling. They obviously know they can't add money-paid lootboxes and p2w gear to the game, so they're trying to squeeze all the money out of the players through forceful attempts at extending our subs, in ANY way they can. Starting with the obvious like GCDs on everything, following up with further slowing the game down by reducing effectiveness of Haste, locking everything they can get away with behind timegates and random chance, and going all the way down to things not many people care about that much, like slightly more steep mob scaling and higher XP requirements(which they are rolling back a bit for the lower levels in 8.1 - I assume as a form of damage control and to pretend they are fixing the game), or even the trash-infested dungeons that are usually a chore to clear through(and some of them are a nightmare in Mythic+ to the point where people either don't bother or make obscene demands). They never listen to beta feedback, because they had a plan laid out by the higher-ups as to what the direction of the game is meant to be, and that plan likely goes forward for years, and the devs can't stray away from the main agenda without risking their heads. They are most definitely aware of all the problems the game has, and possibly can't do much with them without someone higher being convinced that they need it to keep the sales up.
@Jormungrandrserpent
@Jormungrandrserpent 6 жыл бұрын
ironically that does the opposite, if players cannot set goals and reliably gear up, they find less and less reasons to login because they have no goals to achieve and thus no incenstive to do the world quest treadmill. IMO the titanforging system for gear is horrible as gear drops are all random so getting gear that you need is a literal crap-shoot. I think they need to bring back the badge systems from TBC and Wotlk; an intermediate currency like badges to get loot you want would allow players to set goals on gear and Blizz could deflate or inflate prices dynamically to control gear progression as needed.

@deenman23 Sure, but then they messed that up by not allowing you to get AP outside of WQs and island expeditions. Blizzard is just straight up forcing me to play content I don't like for me to be able to play content I do like. @XAntssX I didn't play arms warrior at the beginning of Legion, and wasn't that aware of their design philosophy, but I find it hard to believe that early Legion was that fucked. In BfA, they said that they just wanted higher ilvls to be an upgrade, so they wanted every spec to be able to use every stat, even if some are better than others. They even reduced the amount of secondary stats to achieve this. Then, for some reason, they decided that arms warriors could not profit from mastery. This meant that LITERALLY half the items you got were useless, because they only had one secondary stat on it. Someone looked at this and thought "This fits into our design philosophy". They had to buff the benefit of mastery by a factor of ten to make the stat ok, though still quite a bit worse than crit. Someone greenlit that.

Most BfA critiques apply to Legion as well, except for the one of class design. Class design is legitimately just worse in BfA, and definitely did its part in making people burn out of the game really fast. Not to say that class design was fantastic Legion either (still better though), what with all the random abilities and filler artifact abilities that did nothing except add bloat to all specs.

Honestly, I think I'm lucky by the fact that my main specs (feral and resto druid) actually feel better in BfA compared to Legion. It's just that almost all other specs in the game are worse. I love the fact that BfA actually brought back triage healing, and reduced the stupid amount of smart heals that you couldn't control that would heal people up all on their own. Probably my favorite iteration of Resto overall, maybe tied with Cataclysm. At the same time I love that they slowed down feral, so it would actually become an interesting spec again, instead of being spammy as hell. Feral is still far worse than in MoP, but I doubt they'll ever bring that back now that M+ is so important to the game. I never like specs that have such a ridiculous focus on multi-target damage such as Elemental shaman, so I wouldn't know how fun it was during Legion. Specs that can only shine on AoE fights feel so worthless on 90% of fights, so they frustrate me. Didn't ele shamans have that stupid artifact ability where you'd suddenly do like five times your normal AoE damage?
@gorrevisor
@gorrevisor 6 жыл бұрын
@@karlzone2 3 times as much. They also made it into a talent. I also love Feral design, have 0 utility and only being able to do M+ keystones around 3 levels lower than what my gear would allow otherwise. So cool. Also, have you ever played Guardian? It's a joy, so much better than Feral. It will only penalise me by 2 M+ levels. But Retribution Paladins are just a whole new tier. Having 5 abilities: 3 of them deals damage ~20% of my total; 1 is 80% and I got 1 AoE that I can use every 8 seconds. So good, mmmm.

The issue is to me that BFA is focusing on the superfluous elements of the expansion without addressing the two main issues in the game right now. There is content out there to be done. There is a wealth of content that you could easily lose yourself in. But it's not enjoyable and people don't want to do it. Why? Because the classes have taken a humongous step backwards since the end of Legion. Whoevers idea it was that we lose Legendaries, Artifact Weapons, Tier sets and compound that with the GCD change probably needs to be fired. To go from a place where the game had such a nice flow during Legion, where every class felt different and had its own flavour to the homogenised, slow paced snore fest we have now is completely unforgivable. There are no replacements for many of the things we had in Legion, as an Assa Rogue I used to have Vendetta on a reliable 1 minute CD where I knew I'd be trying to max out the damage I could do for that period with the fresh regen I got from pressing it. Now? I get Vendetta every two minutes, can't single global it with TB or KB because of GCD. The difference is startlingly bad. The second issue is the rewards system, in Legion, for as bad as Legendaries were, they kept people in the game. You always had something to aim for and farm because you wanted something in the game, the carrot was there, similarly artifact power felt tenuously more powerful than Azerite because atleast at the beginning it changed the way you played, or gave you obvious bonuses. The reward system in BFA is awful and the way players interface with the game is such a massive step down from Legion that it is an insult. Everything else is a problem stemming from these problems. Until that is changed, BFA will never recover. You can put as much content as you want into this game right now, it will change nothing, the game itself is busted and the superfluous changes in 8.1 really don't tackle these issues.
@OWnIshiiTrolling
@OWnIshiiTrolling 6 жыл бұрын
They just removed half the game going from Legion to BfA, and reintroduced it, claiming it was new content. Artefact traits are now azerite armor traits, you just have way fewer at a time now. The RNG fuckfest of Legiondaries is now the RNG fuckfest of getting the right azerite armor. AP is now AP (though you are now allowed to play more than one spec). The 54 trait grind is now the whatever it takes to max your current armor grind, and this still has to be done over again with every new content patch. MoS grinding is now island expedition grinding, just that you are punished by actually losing traits if you don't do it. Invasions are coming back, but I have no doubt that they will somehow find a way to make it suck. The shit that they should have removed, like nested RNG (basically titforging), is still in the game, for literally no reason. Anyone with a high school level of math can tell you that nesting RNG is completely retarded, so I have to assume that nobody with decision power at Blizzard has any knowledge of basic math. For anyone who wants to disagree: Assume that the item you need has a 20% chance to drop. Assume that it has a 20% chance to titforge (I don't know how large that number actually is). Assume that it has a 30% chance to be a max titforge (Again, I don't know the actual number). Basically, this means that the only way you can stop grinding for that item is if you are lucky enough to hit that 0.2*0.2*0.3 chance. That's 1.2%. Even if my numbers are too low (and I have no reason to assume that they aren't), it is three times more likely that you get a Thunderfury essence off of Garr than it is to get the right item from a boss. You have a chance in excess of 95% that you will have to grind for the exact same item with a better roll again, even if my numbers are too low. From the fallout of Diablo Immortal, we now know that Blizzard is on a very tight budget. This really shows in BfA.

@OWnIshiiTrolling
@OWnIshiiTrolling 6 жыл бұрын
@@chasey1978 To be fair, arms warrior was in a good spot by the end of legion. Removing half the class, and allowing you to get a tiny fraction back in azerite traits was genuinely retarded, though. However, I played holy priest at the beginning of Legion, and I maintain to this day that having a useless aoe healing spell, and only doing aoe healing by spamming flash heal with trail of light is piss poor class design. So there's that. The legendaries were a complete joke. The first one I got was literally the worst one (so bad that wearing it was a downgrade), and the second one wasn't good either. This was before they let you get more than two. I don't know why anyone would greenlight a system that determines whether your character will be useful or useless in the first month of an expansion, until they get around to actually putting in thought and fixing it. It seems like the people who refuse to put thought into the shit they implement still wotk there, though.

WoD's only problem, and I mean ONLY problem is MoP. MoP saw the largest mass firing of a company not being outright liquidated in human history. There was no one physically at the building to make WoD, so its first patch was made early on in MoP and that was that. They had to work on Legion the entire duration of SoO and almost all of WoD proper. They had to cut the two raid first tier into two tiers, skip the third tier and reuse Legion art assets and rewrite the WoD story to create a final patch for WoD to just exist for 2 years while they finished Legion. hate MoP for the god awful managment of the company, not WoD which is by far the most heart filled hard made beloved part of the ENTIRE Warcraft story for Blizzard, especially Chris Metzen himself, and simply didnt get finished. Comparing BFA, a shitty product that was finished, to WoD, a beautiful product cut 1/4th into its design and left incomplete, is just not using your noggin. Think your comparisons through and make sure they are fair. WoD was made in about 6 months, BFA was made in multiple years. Legion was complete up to the Argus patch when it came out, so virtually all of Legion was pure BFA development time with a full team together for it.

I have a feeling that the people doing the design are old-school in their thought processes... I can imagine them going "what's wrong with world quests being abandoned? It's just like Legion and people loved that! The players are lucky they're getting any world quests at all, because it's 400% more content than they ever got in BC or Wrath." In some ways, that is correct... it IS a lot more content than we ever used to get. The issue isn't whether or not we have lots of things to do, but whether or not we're motivated and having fun... and after epics started raining from the sky in Wrath, the gear started losing most of its appeal as a motivation, and now there's nothing to replace it other than proprietary systems like artifact weapons, which they didn't think through enough with the BfA version of azerite. They REALLY should have paid more attention to the azerite system because it's pretty much the basket all their eggs were going to be in for making everything else relevant. I also want to point out that I do find world quests, mythic +, raids and islands to all be fun... just not enormously so. I also have other things to play, and it seems like WoW is failing to innovate in terms of making things more interesting.

I couldn't re-fill the spots fast enough. My warrior was under-performing and our roster was thinning out. The guild slowly disbanded. Perhaps it was partially due to my leadership as GM. But I've never seen a guild lose interest so quickly before when progression was on point. We downed G'huun normal with a little outside pug help but at that point? The damage was done. Its now been 2 months since our first core raid member left. I'm unsubbed and the guild is being looked over by a trusted friend until things pickup. But I don't have much hope of that happening. People got their first impressions of the game you only get to make a first impression once. The utter failure of this xpac as well as the recent dissconnect Blizzard seems to have with its fans (not mobile phone fans though) really puts me off even for the re-launch of classic, something I've been looking forward to for over a decade. Does blizzard really deserve any more of my money?

Similar story here. I joined a new raiding guild around august 2017, raided ToS and Antorus with it, everyone was pumped for BfA, the first day of Uldir there was a login q on my realm, the guild was filled, i've never seen so many people online. A month later we were struggling to fill the group for the raid and had to bring in randoms. The last 2 weeks there were only a few people online during what was supposed to be raid time. Everyone knew what was coming, it was just a matter of time. Then one morning i get up, open up discord and see a notification from the GM in the guild discord server - the guild was ceasing all raiding activities. In other words, it was just the official announcement that the guild is dead, thanks to BfA. Surprisingly enough, even though i knew the guild was dying long before that message popped up, seeing it hit me really hard for some reason. I was sad and angry for days. Now i feel only the anger. And to answer your question - after BlizzCon it seems Blizzard does not deserve any money, even for Classic. The fact that they even thought about putting sharding into Classic says it all. They DO NOT care about their fans. If they somehow manage to fuck Classic up that would be the final nail in the coffin, i'm sure of that. Legion turned out to be an OK expansion for the most part and Blizzard thought they could pull another WoD on us. WoD me once, shame on you. WoD me twice, shame on me. People aren't stupid.

As a GM and raidleader for over a decade this is nothing out of the ordinary. Millions come back at the start of xpacs and most of them leave again. Thats why high progress guilds usually require such a long raiding history from you if you wish to join. They simply dont want to deal with expansion-boomers or whatever you want to call them. Dont get me wrong, i dislike BfA for various reasons and if it wouldnt be for my guild i would have quit after finishing mythic progression, but this really is just normal. Guilds come and go, especially at the lower end.

This! So much this. We can thank those back in vanilla and TBC for bitching because they didn't get to see end game. Or finally kill Illidan pr whatever it was. Instead of simply ignoring it, moving forward, and keeping busines as usual, the slow transformation began. Easier, but all be it better, dungeon design. Change in raid sizes over time. Then change to difficulty. Then systems to offer optional gear ups were added. Then to the ultimate just give them gear system ala Warfronts. I have said this to my friends over and over and over devs can not cater to one type of player base. Look at Wildstar, a great looking game with a fresh look at an MMO that decided to cater to the hardcore scene. Ask the casuals left. I understand bugs in wildstar were also prevalent, but that wasn't the sole reason. I well rounded content filled game will keep everyone. Hence why TBC and Wrath are considered iconic. Personally in some previous expansions when I had completed everything that I wanted to and had "finished" my characters progression I would still log on and play because what i was playing was enjoyable. The class design changes, lack of new interesting talents, loss of all the gameplay changes in my artifact weapon, and the rotation for some of the classes is just boring now.

Right now there just isn't any sense of progression. You either get lucky or you don't. Taking away control over the experience is a huge part of why I quit playing BFA. And I really didn't like Legion either, or WOD either. It has been a steady stream of limiting player customization and grinding making it pointless to actually try to improve your character. I agree with everything you've said. It's exactly right. Going from Legion to BfA is like going from a released game to it's alpha phase. However, 1 point on reward v gameplay. I think there's balance to be had there. I, for example, play for both. The artifact challenges were engaging gameplay with a reward at the end. I used to see raiding the same way. Even the warmode gameplay, it was fun whilst levelling and getting the title but pretty unrewarding after that. If they made it so we were encouraged to fight over resources that benefited the faction it would have been incentivised with engaging gameplay and reward. They even sold it that way. They said that we'd be encouraged to repel the enemy faction for resources, that hasn't happened. If they think Warfronts resource collection is what people expected when they said that they're deluded. We expected BDO like systems where you actively go to designated spots and attack with an army of other players whenever you want. The whole expansion is half baked and I knew it would be dull as soon as they announced the title. The cinematic was great but they're always great. I just felt it and I even said it to a mate.

We fought the Burning Legion in their fucking home world alongside the opposite faction, discovered the Pantheon and the glimps of the void but now we are attacking each other yet again after all we have been through? The horde and alliance should be wiping the floor with these blood trolls and pirates at this point with all the technological advances we have made. Killing those filthy crocodiles who dare touch our azerite, protecting turtles from seagulls with paper instead of using our actual weapons. Why didnt Azshara strike us during the demon invasion instead when we were vulnerable? What the fuck is Velen and Khadgar doing right now? The story of BFA doesnt fit here at all. Legion should have been the expansion that marks the beginning of the end. We were so powerful during Legion only to throw it all away when there are still worse threats out there.

It naturally progressed into what WC3 became, which is the best game Blizz has ever released in both gameplay and story. That is the first step Blizz needs to take, is to build a coherent story. There was no reset after Legion when the story really needs it. Especially right after they essentially introduce the Void.

@@marcvan367 I think so too but I also wouldnt mind (since blizzard wants more expansions) if they had separated Legion into 2 expansions with them attacking us first and expansion 2 being the counter attack. Would easily have worked with Argus as the main continent and other planets as sub zones kinda like the invasion points but better. And while we still have the strength and high morale, only then should we be able to face the void. I just dont think BFA fits in between there at all. No matter how powerful Azshara is, we should have dealt with her before Legion since it doesnt make any sense that she would sit underwater while demons are destroying her planet. And what are these blood trolls and pirates trying to accomplish? What can they possibly do against the 2 powerhouse factions that defeated the fucking burning legion. They should be thanking us that we saved their meaningless lives. BFA feels like we went back in time to Cata/MOP and the only thing that came out of Legion is that Azeroth is bleeding.

As a roleplayer, this expansion is a bloody nightmare. Too many things make little or no sense, with a lot of reasons for things happening relying on the meta. I'm maining two Pandarens, a monk and a shaman, and I have ZERO motivation to participate in this so called war as they're both from NEUTRAL ORDERS. My pandas have defeated the legion in two separate occasions (3 if you count BC) to save the world, only to be shoehorned into fighting the other faction who we've worked with to save it?! Why isn't the Earthen Ring doing anything about this war? Why is the Order of the Broken Temple silent? What the hell is the Cenarion Circle doing?! Seriously, to the bloody void with this goddamn game and whatever moron came up with this so-called 'story'.

You know I went super casual and can't offer a complete overview like you, but your points hit the nail on the head. I had so much hype for BFA, starting 23:55 on that launch night and getting my char to 120 within 12 hours. The art team definitely carries this expansion as the zones look amazing, I haven't been able to stop listening to the music and the cinematics are just insane. That said - I don't feel the storyline really "took me", I've basically done the quests because they're prerequisites to Jaina's story (yes, I'm a pleb alliance), emissaries or reputations. I don't really care what happens to the people involved in either of the zones, but that might just be my min-maxing attitude that wanted to save as much time as possible. Although, I have only leveled 2 chars to 120 from 110 and for me that says volumes as at this point in Legion I already had like 5 110s that I had to level either from 1, boosted to 90, 100 or my monk that was around 80. I was engrossed in doing the artifact quests, even after I saw that a lot of them were similar. I did all the mount quests as well later in Legion, I cared for the Order Halls (even past the fact that they were extreme gold generators). I even leveled a warlock, my most hated class, and actually played it. I absolutely realize how much work was put into those (well, not all of them) and that it's difficult to reproduce again, especially since there's no class affiliation around this expansion. If you're not pushing for class harmony like in Legion, you'd expect at least that the PVP aspect of the "we're at war" situation would be full blown. Especially with PVP quests, world quests, special events, scaling PVP rewards and systems depending on how many players are interacting in open world PVP, parts of the zone that are PVP oriented. I like the supply caches that drop from the sky and you can hear when it happens and you look up, see it and you can run there and open it for you faction, something like that and more of that to incentivize people to engage in PVP. I've had War Mode on during leveling, as soon as I noticed Horde PVP parties ganking champions of azeroth world quests or in general world quest zones, I had enough as I didn't see the use of wasting 30min or more of my time on a world quest when I can do it in 30 seconds, the reward to time ratio just doesn't make sense. And this is a damn shame as I enjoyed Hillsbrad PVP the most (not taking into account the lagspikes and FPS drops). As Taliesin mentioned, Argent Dawn doesn't have this problem as it's an RP server which works differently, his experience with War Mode has been very good and he plays alliance and horde. Of course, it's difficult to use the same system on all servers as they have population issues and that's something sharding is supposed to solve, but it really isn't. Islands were a great addition to the game, but a week into it, I felt already like it was a complete grind and once I found the perfect way to complete it as soon as possible, I just started doing that and it felt repetitive. And I still feel it's only a way to get some more Azerite for that reset. Developing that AI for sure is a great piece of tech they managed to create, but while that's great for them and maybe for something in the future, right now I'm not really seeing the payoff. This does mean they might get really imaginative as to how they wanna use it. Azerite armor just seems like a chore - every time you think you're done, you really aren't, and you lose some stuff because they decided to make you redo levels every time you get an upgrade. Artifact weapons weren't perfect, but at least you didn't lose something when they upgraded. You only grew in power and knew what you could count on to have as passive abilities. Not to mention the farm for the items themselves, then again it's the same for every item you want. World quests were a great addition to Legion, but they somehow lost their use in BFA very quickly. Of course this would be due to there being no legendaries. Before I knew if I wanted a legendary I had to do everything to be able to get them until I got the one that I needed. Then a new tier comes and you don't have another legendary and the farm continues. And even then you might wanna do it to get legendaries for alt. In any case, the incentive to do world quests was far greater in Legion. I'm not saying they should bring back legendaries, but something should make it worth to complete them, other than gold, war resources or random items probably no one except a new character needs. This connects well to Argus rares as well since they were a sort of world quest that rewarded legendaries, mounts, toys and whatnot. Warfronts feel like a missed concept. While adding new ones allows us to do them more often, I don't feel the need to do them. They would need to add rewards or currency to make it worth, but playing against NPCs that don't stand a chance is kind of lame? The whole point of islands is that you can lose to an AI, why not do the same with Warfronts? There are no stakes in the matter if the NPCs can win with AFK players. Why not use island AI here? My time is mostly spent doing m+ with friends and that's just something they managed to pull off so good that they can play around with that (not like bugged infested though) and see what kind of new things they can use, it's a great system that they can build upon. But having systems that were just bad to begin with and trying to fix them without listening to player feedback is just baffling. As to how BFA was shipped early, that's on the conscience of the people that decided to do it this way. Realistically speaking, if the expansion did roll out later, it might've been a financial hit and maybe in this way it worked better for them mathematically, but it certainly didn't improve customer experience. That Diablo Immortals stunt was just more proof of this. They are a company and they need to make money to create things, but pick your moments and pick your audience and be truthful about what you're doing and who you're doing it for. BFA 3 months later with a better and fixed world would definitely feel better but we also got to the point where we lost interest in Legion and subs surely started to drop. Their marketing department knows their stuff at least statistics-wise and pushing BFA early was just a mathematical decision.

I am an officer in mythic raiding guild 6/8M and yesterday we just had a chat on discord that we take a break from BFA atm (another 15-20 players canceling sub) waiting for another raid to come. There is just not enough things to do like you said island expeditions, warfronts they are not for me. I would farm wqs and dungeons for AP in legion just cause it had a chance "carrot on a stick" to get SOMETHING. The only activity for us that is worth a while is raiding and doing weekly 10+. Most of our players were logging only for raids including myslef when in legion i could play for hours everyday and wouldn't get bored. Also as you said the progression in legion was visible the feeling when you achieved your concordance or when you get your bis legendary was epic. 8.1 besides season 2 brings basically nothing for players like us there are some qul improvements but it doesn't really affect the overall feeling of the game. There is a lot things to talk about buth they were all included in this video and in forums/reddit. Idk it just feels bad to play the game, just my thoughts.

I know legendaries split opinions in legion but they sure as hell kept everything relevant, you could get legendary from emissary = reason to do World Quests, you could get legendary from the argus Invasion Points, you could get legendary from mythic +0, old raids, everything .... That was a real carrot when you think of it now...and when there is not that carrot, well..the subnumbers i guess speak for themselves.... Ofc everything else Preach said here is also true, it's just copypaste from legion but just worse, and after playing legion for 2 years day in, day out you'd want something new, unfortunately "glued-on" content like islands and warfronts, dont' deliver...

I played BfA when it launched, leveled my main to 120 and an alt to like 115-ish, then gave up. Why? It felt just like more Legion. The same world quest format, the same grind, felt just like another endgame zone, nothing felt actually fun and the little that was, was gated behind reputations I didn't feel like raising. As a non-raider, there was absolutely nothing for me in the game, I actually preferred Argus to what was available to me. That's why I left and for the first time in many years, I don't feel curiosity about the game or miss it. On the other hand, came back to another MMO which is considered 'inferior' which is SWTOR and it's a lot more fun than WoW is right now. Not here to say one game is better than another, just to illustrate the reality of how WoW isn't appealing anymore to many players. It's a game turned to grind, not to fun.

I think the story in Legion was way more engaging. Sargeras was THE big bad we had been building up to since before WoW. It was inevitable that the story was going to fall off after all that. The end of Legion really should have been the time to maybe launch a Warcraft 4 or even a patch or two of brand new content that players could get behind. A lot of people would argue that WC3 ended with Arthas, which to a point it did, but the end of Sargeras really was. Games need progression, and BFA currently lacks substantial long term progression. I would usually be eating up a story like Sylvanas right now but wait, we alread saw this with Garrosh. What made Wrath and Legion the best to me was how story driven it was, and the fact that everything we were doing before was coming to a head.

As @Zipzo mentions: "Many criticisms of BFA can be directly levied at Legion all the same". I'm not against critique of BFA: lord knows, it deserves it. However, your critiques do have to make logical sense. For example: I see many people saying that the RNG of the game is the worst thing of BfA, but that makes me wonder how those people survived Legion, where the RNG way way more prevalent. People conveniently ignore that half of the hot-button issues in BfA were present in Legion too. If they weren't a problem back then, chances are they're not problems right now either. Critique is worthless if it's not accurate.

Building a expansion for the casuals amongst casuals with warfronts without a lose condition dropping a minimum of hc raidgear, island expeditions on the same level of difficulty and massively simplifying the game with the removal of tiersets, legendarys and gearswapping. And rest in piece on use trinkets, how about you take one of those fun and engaging "has a chance to do x" instead? So you have more time for meaningful decisions xd. Same with GCD changes. Oh dont worry we still have on use trinkets, even if they are scarce. With exciting effects like gain 500intellect for 20 seconds. Or 600 versatility. Or 600 crit for 20 seconds. I know i know this sounds exciting over trinkets like moonglaives, sentinax beacon and the likes, but we got more. Enjoyed being able to do high m+ with classes that lack really strong defensives or utility in their base kit? Well you wont be doing that anymore either because prydaz and utility legendarys are gone and we still havent fixed spriests or shamans for m+. They are still paperclasses, but we up the damage of priests in 8.1 so that will surely change things. At least doing high m+ isnt worth it anway. Efficiency has ruined the genre
@r.gletscher5162
@r.gletscher5162 6 жыл бұрын
Raees Gaba the casual crowd ruined the genre. Island expeditions, warfronts and worldquests werent made for hardcore players. And ironically they are even hated by casuals now. Nothing is rewarding anymore. The mythic uldir transmog gear looks like leveling greens, completely bland. The trinket from mythic ghuun is so terrible it barely sims above some worldboss/worldquest trinkets 30 ilvl lower. A m+18 gives as much ap as a 2 minute worldquest, because why reward challenging content? If you alienate your most dedicated players everything will trickle down to the mainstream crowd. This has been observed countless times as most streamers and content creators are more engaged with the game and more into the endgame than your average mainstream player. And if all content creators are majorly negative about a game the masses will adapt that mentality sooner or later, even if its about stuff that doesnt and has never affected them when playing themselfs.

I actually quite enjoy FFXIV right now. If you can get past the "kawaiiiii desu" weabo-crowd, it's pretty damn good. The only thing that took some time getting used to is the 2 second gcd. Give it a go, it's free until level 30.

@@Kenkyofukai I got behind the kawaii desu crowd once and was greeted with even more OwO's. Cant recommend if you are not a weeb yourself. If you are and call your bodypillow by his first name you will enjoy it a lot more than wow.

To all the people whinning about their guild dying: People don't stay in guilds because of content, but because of the people in them. At that point, if people are leaving as soon as progress stops being super fun, you're no better than a pug. Specially when pugs can get the content you deem "Progression" way faster than your group. I've led my current guild for 5 years and we're pretty casual but we focus on having a great atmosphere, we only get to kill 2-3 bosses on mythic by the time the next raid comes out but we never have roster issues becuase everybody loves coming online to raid with fun people. So maybe it's time to stop whinning at blizzard and re-think your group strategy.

What? It's not about "staying" in the guild or not, it's about staying in the GAME or not. Almost no reason for any, let's say top 300-400 guilds member to play this game anymore. We clear the raid mythic on wednesday in sub 2 hours and then run our 3 alt keys. Come thursday i have nothing else to do in the game, repeat this 3,4,5,7,8,10 weeks and see how long you stay subbed. The better the guild the smaller the roster, so it "dies" fast when this kicks in.

@@lampalo You're hardly the target audience for my comment if your guild clears mythic. So i'm not even going to finish reading your comment as you clearly didn't even bother to read mine.

Indeed. I worry that the current system is increasing guild drama, but that could just be my guild, and my guild has pretty thoroughly imploded (largely due to drama). I don't really want to waste time finding another, though. So the questions is, what does the game offer enough to keep me playing even though my guild can't do the same anymore.
@SeraVaeVictis
@SeraVaeVictis 6 жыл бұрын
@@awdunc Can't answer that for you friend, the main thing that motivates me is mantaining the guild and raiding. I don't really chase any particular carrots outside of guild events, i just do whatever i feel like doing be it farming cosmetics or whatever my current interest is, i have barely touched warfronts for example, tho the idea of heroic warfronts with the guild sounds pretty fun. If i don't feel like playing the game, i don't, i do something else. The best i've got for you is try something you haven't tried yet, gauntlet style just get 'em all done and perhaps you will find something that will resonate with you. If not well, perhaps you should just stop playing the game, there's nothing wrong with that. Honestly wish you the best and hope you find something you enjoy, if not in this game, the next big thing.

SeraVaeVictis right. Same guild here, and my brother was in a similar one as well. But our guilds disbanded because BFA is just meh. Why raid when you can get gear easier through other means. Well why get gear at all anymore, everyone hits 370 within a month or so playing doing basic content. Those are the reasons we left, we just switched games instead of running on the mouse wheel. But like you said, if you have fun doing it then keep at it. Your set of friends enjoy BFA and that’s great, but great guilds/friend guilds do disband because people don’t have fun with the systems/content.

Too weeb-ish for me and the community is even more casual than wow. And the endgame is not as challenging as wow most of the time. I wish we would get actual hardcore mmos back and keep the fortnite crow precisely there. In fortnite.

I started playing osrs. Made me remember why I used to love the mmorpg genre. It is not the flashy graphics or insta gratification. It is the sense of community and hardship you go through trying to achieve your goals. There is nothing that rival that feeling. Achiveing a goal that span over several weeks is a way more satisfying feeling and something that will stick in your mind for years to come rather than achieving goals every 20-30 min of gameplay. Make it way less memorable. I realised that I dont need a carrot infront of my face 24/7.

@@r.gletscher5162 FF may be more casual friendly than WoW but at the same time I find FF's casuals a lot more competent than WoW's. The game forces them to do bosses with a lot of mechanics just to finish their main story and unlock stuff and there's no DBM. Whereas WoW's casuals have trouble with LFR G'huun which is like 3 mecanics and one of them is just "don't cast"... There would be a meltdown in WoW if a LFR boss was as "hard" as Nidhogg, Shinryu, Tsukuyomi, or Alphascape V3/V4... WoW's only more challenging than FF at the extreme top end, ie Mythic raids and Mythic +15 dungeons.

Lorem Ipsum which is what i am interested in. I dont see myself playing wow casually, or any other mmo for that matter. If i stop pushing i will just stop playing and focus on something else. Its just not my cup of tea, but i can see why others would like it.

I am still subbed and maybe log in once every other week and pug a m+ and that is it. But mostly the reason I stopped playing was because my guild went from 20-30 ish players to 60-70ish where 40 wanted to raid. I had already prepared myself for raiding during the 1st week getting 340+ but was busy the days before the raid was released so when I came back the leadership was already overwhelmed with how many players there where, so I ended up not getting the trial rank and raiding the first weeks. Which kinda killed most of the fun for me in a instant. I played on alittle more for a week or 2, did some m+ and leveld my horde toon and did some pvp. Sure I can probably go back now and start gearing up in HC with them for Mythic but I'm not just excited for anything in BFA. I played months in Legion without raiding during some times and was still having fun even though raiding has always been the main thing for me, but it doesn't feel the same with BFA.

Meh. Same shit. Different day. Blizzard dealt wow mortally wounding blow after mortally wounding blow all throughout wrath of the lich king. Then took it out back to the woodshed and executed it with cataclysm. Since then the game has been nothing but the corpse of a once amazing game held together by tape and strung up like a puppet with a tacky new paint job every few years in the form of another expansion. Wow is dead peeps. RIP. Let’s just hope blizzard doesn’t find new and creative ways to butcher wow classic like their horrible track record suggests it will.
