This is why I'll always enjoy vintage Lego space themes much more than Lego Star Wars. It's not 100% obvious what everything is supposed to be or represent, it's up to your imagination to decide that!
@TrikBrix5 жыл бұрын
So true, and that’s what I love about vintage Lego in general. While I do have a pretty sizable SW collection - mostly original trilogy stuff - it just doesn’t quite spark the imagination like these old sets. I like that the story and characters were completely up to you.

I heard rumours about Disney regarding Lego Star Wars and I don't know if it's true.

That sprue is interesting! I didn't know those one studs used to come like that! The steering, though... That's really cool! I haven't seen anything like that outside of Technic in a long time!

Great set! M-Tron is GREAT! I can see why you like the packaging - it’s SO gorgeous! Agreed on the spot-the-difference instructions :-D The set is great - love that everything is printed! And the play function of the m-tron series is just awesome! Great video, great set and great theme! Thanks for sharing this and keep up the great work :-)

Thanks, Jakob! Glad you enjoyed it! And even though I never had any of these as a kid, the packaging makes me feel so nostalgic... great design work. And yeah - I had to use online instructions to build the Mega Core Magnetizer... not fun! Lol Thanks for watching, my friend! 😎👍

TrikBrix ah, yeah, I can imagine the online instructions being kind of annoying! :-)
@TrikBrix5 жыл бұрын
They’re just so dark, it’s hard to tell what’s what sometimes. It’s too bad the official online Lego instruction catalog only goes back to the mid 90s. The pains of being an AFOL, lol. 😄

TrikBrix hmm, are they expensive to get on Bricklink?

i rly liked thoes wheels, and tbh that strong magnet lifting that box up would work wonders for fantasy for a kid (specially with the 80/90's space toons). Also even when pretty basic this set has a great turning mechanism, a working crane, can be rebuilt. Rly one of the better sets tbh. Overall the space theme in early 90's was great, the flying jetpacks, the huge wheeled vehicles, and great ships.

Great video - shows off the theme and the model really well! I like Mtron, although was past my space Lego days when it came out so I never owned any. My era was White / transparent blue classic space and Futuron. I might start collecting Mtron though - it is really cool! The one thing I don’t really like about this set is the driver position - very exposed, unsafe, and how on earth does he or she get up there! It needs a ladder and a canopy of some sort.

@AClassicBrick5 жыл бұрын
@@TrikBrix this set tho looks somehow very appealing to me. I grew up in a time ppl call Legos dark ages. Many things like Jack Stone etc... Vikings stood out for me back then. It is a beautiful line. Allthough I liked the concept arts when the vikings had molded beards. Also it should be notet that the monsters that were included actually have names and are all based upon northern mythology (Fenriswolf, Mitgard, Fafnir Dragon etc)
@TrikBrix5 жыл бұрын
The sea monsters are what I remember seeing the most - I always thought they should have included something like that in the Pirates line. Cool that they actually had names! I could definitely see myself doing a Vikings retrospective at some point in the distant future.
@AClassicBrick5 жыл бұрын
@@TrikBrix it would be awesome and as I own every vikings set of the first wave, i can tell you, you need to see them in Person to funny understand their glory. As I said when I was a kid I looked jealous at what lego had in store in the time before I started getting into lego. Dragons, warriors in nice armor, ships and wood fortresses (Legoredo) and when vikings came around all of this was combined in one epic line. My favourite themes I'm nostalgic with are KK1, Vikings and Adventurers/Orient expedition... pirates and castle was before my Time
@TrikBrix5 жыл бұрын
I can see how all those things combined would be awesome! Now I definitely want to check it out... I’d have to say, if we’re going on nostalgia alone, Adventurers Egypt and Wild West would be my two choices. It’s only been as an adult that Pirates has become my favorite, as I don’t really remember owning any of those as a kid.

I really liked the explorians video you made and this one. The thing with classic space is that all subthemes would take place in the same universe, and its kind of sad they don't do it anymore
@TrikBrix5 жыл бұрын
I know! There was a time when you had M:Tron, Space Police, Blacktron, and Futuron all on store shelves at the same time... it would be amazing to see that sort of system return, but with all of the licensed themes taking up space, it’s unlikely. Don’t get me wrong: I love Star Wars, but have little to no interest in Marvel, DC, Overwatch, Powerpuff Girls (lol), Harry Potter, etc, etc. Even the newer original themes like Ninjago don’t do much for me. Hopefully someday we’ll see a return to SciFi, Pirates, and Castle, without being tied to a film/TV/video game license. I’ve actually started looking into Playmobil, because their selection of themes reminds me so much of 80s & 90s Lego.

There really is something special about the way they used to showcase the sets on the boxes... it would be cool to see Lego do a retro line, like so many other toy makers are doing, and bring back some of this packaging.

Here is a rather interesting question for you: Do you like Bionicle?
@TrikBrix5 жыл бұрын
I remember my brother and I getting into it for a minute when it first came out in 2001 - I think I had Tahu - but my fascination with it didn’t last very long. I was 15 at the time, so my LEGO dark ages were on the horizon, and I never kept up with the storyline. Looking back, I’m glad they did it, since it pretty much saved the company, but I’m still not a huge fan of constraction figures.
