Lego Black Friday Review - One Of The Worst Black Fridays Ever

I purchased 15 of the parrots, 20 of the Venom Mech for 60% off, 50 of the D&D Minifigures, about 50 BrickHeadz sets (to get lots of the freebies), 30 2 pack Speed Champions, rolled the dice on 3 HP Trains, an AT-AT, EL DORADO and a bunch of small order items for investment. In addition I got a bunch of sale items for personal use... A-Frame Cabin, Chewbacca, Land Speeder, etc. Some items were a good sale... but not for investment. Most of my money went in weeks prior. Although I missed a lot I wanted, I still believe the best sales were prior to Black Friday.

​@@brickinvestingI agree with rrxoetex picking up mini figures, I think there's is good potential there... However I wouldn't buy blind ... Looking at earlier series it's really about the choice. Series 26: Astronaut (plan to put one with the discovery sets when I sell) and android (people seem to want the pink astro baby) D&D: paladin (have about 15), mind fling (have about 3) plus 2 full sets... These have been collected over last couple of months rather than just black Friday. The 2 full sets will be paired up with the Red Tale S&D big set when sold. Going to look for some more this week. One rule of thumb I have tried to used is roughly micro fighter: £10, battle pack :15 So for smaller sets, like jedi bob's, I think "would as a kid, I prefer a £15 Starfighter to battle pack" (yea) For battle packs , would I prefer them to a micro nighter (yea). Basically thinking that at a minimum, what is their "intrinsic value" and not dipping below. I think considering an intrinsic value (what would any kid spend their pocket money on, no matter how recently released) is a way of reducing risk and setting reasonable buying price. I can't see Jedi bobs fighter ever being worth less than £15, even just as a random toy.

@brickinvesting 10 of them was the discounted Star Wars 6 pack. They let me order 5 on black Friday and 5 on Cyber Monday lol. I really think the record players will be valuable. And the BrickHeadz stand on their own making the freebies pure profit.

@@rrcortez8561 I am gutted I could only get one marine chronometer. I got two endurance kits and will pick up another one or two if they go on sale. I have a good feeling about them ... And as a set with the lifeboat and marine chronometer, I feel that could be a good bundle to sell in 4 or 5 years. The endurance was on lower "exclusive" cashback but selling record and train , and cashback and gift voucher cashback, cost me about £120 (end. And lifeboat)

I crushed it with Target through Uber Eats with the 50% off. Got several compiles of Princess Leia Boushh, Commander Cody Helmet, and Commander Rex Helmet for about $30 each. Also got a couple of copies of the Jazz Quartet from Barnes and Noble for $75. Millenium Falcon from Walmart for $100.

black friday and cyber monday sales were bad this year. i feel like the best deals of the year were random throughout. we may see some better sales towards the end of the year because of how little inventory moved during Black Friday sales. Who knows!

I believe Insiders Weekend was way better than BFCM. Between discounts, cash back, GWPs and credit card offers I was averaging 40 to 50% off what I bought. Examples - ATATs, City Gardens, Tumbler, Speed Champions, Pink Parrots, Indy Jones, Space Shuttle, Office, Guitar, etc

I got The Office x3, Ant-Man x2, Fire Rescue Plane, Endurance with GWPs x2, a few Speed Champions, Avengers Tower, and the Slushy Van! Tried to get the Pink Parrot, but was already gone. Got the Invisible Hand, but then was later told I didn't get it trough Target Pick-up. Saw Thanos glove and Batwing but walked away from both. I guess in the end it was ok and could have gone worse. I agree, the best deal was The Office.

For my personal collection, it's been pretty good. Investing, however, has been horrible. The best was the pink parrot and the 3 in 1 castle. Pink Parrot will 100% make money but the 3 in 1 castle is competing against the lion knights castle so you may see as low as a 10 dollar profit from each set sold.

I got the Hogwart Express collector edition, Lion Knight castle, Ninjago garden, the brickheadz on sale, the NASA shuttle, Jurassic Park that went on sale at Lego and sold out. I am happy with all these sets. My wallet not so much.

The office set at $70 was about the only thing I really jumped on. Nothing major really stood out to me. I’m thinking December is going to have some flash deep sales. I don’t believe these sets are actually sold out considering they keep coming back into stock

I bought 6 office sets. We are Walmart+ subscribers, so that helped. Also, was able to snag 2 in store for reduced price. I was able to grab 3 of the Medieval Castle 3 in 1 at $63 each, and 3 of the DUPLO Town Steam Train set at 30% off. The steam train is my sleeper this year. Already selling for $100+ in after market post sell out. I got 3 Pink Parrots, 3 each of the retiring speed champions, and 3 of the Sonic/Tails Plane set when it went half off at Target. I was able to get 2 Ninjago City Gardens and 2 UCS AT-AT as my high end whale sets. Good luck to everyone.

2 Shuttle Discovery and 2 Endeavour.... 4 separate orders with a few GWPs. The store discounts have not been further cut than previously in the year.... In November sales got one more Boushh and some jedi Bobs. Missed out on the City Space mobile command cente which had 40% off at lego that seemed good. I dont think Lego is adapting to buyers and investors... I think the cut in numbers is due to how much was wasted last year (the loss they had on republic fighter tank for example)... Plus they maybe being careful with plastic production, storage, etc. ans as mentioned before, the mesia for Harry Potter, DC, Marvel, Star Wars... has been dookie all year. I think it made sense for Lego to be reserved and for stores to trixkle sales. I still think some more deep cuts just before or after xmas, but with minimal stock.

I missed it but UberEats had some of the best deals via Target. Seems like it was mostly the Oregon area... Bouush for $40.20 Cody and Rex for $20. None of my Targets had anything like that but there are ppl out there that were able to take advantage of it with pics and receipts. I only ended up with Speed Champs from Target (the 3 under $14), the Office from Walmart for $70 (I managed to get 5 copies), and the Jazz Quartet from B&N for $75 (I also grabbed 5 copies and it looks like they have more in stock). Oh and I grabbed 2 copies of the Endurance and all the GWPS that come with it.

So i did see some sales but nothing that i went crazy on. I focused on retiring sets and if i saw it for less, i went for it. All the Indiana Jones sets are done. Amazon has the prices going up and down for the last month so i invested there. I feel sales were there, but they went quick. The Spiderman art pic was at 140 on Amazon and then back to 190. Lego and Target same thing. Issue is Lego us making too much not of just sets but of big sets. Even for my personal collection, choices have to be made. I just dont have the money to just get both the Marvel $500 set and the Star Wars one as well. Rich man game....indeed.

Didn't buy anything. This was probably one of the worst insiders weekends anyway, minus the sales. Some of the sales were decent but then again even with sales the prices only came to the same level as retail (talking about official lego site). But this cyber monday really takes the cake for being the worst Lego sales event I've seen. All the good deals are sold out, and the GWP you get is 2 polybags 😂. Anyway, I'm waiting for them to drop some good christmas GWP before the end of the year to make one last purchase because I want to collect all the micro ninjago city sets. Those damn insider gift codes and their expiration dates... They know what they're doing with them.

What I purchased on this Great Black Friday. Walmart ( the office) 32 sets. These were available for days. You can’t be sitting on your but these days. NASA shuttle with Rakuten also paying 15% back and the Ninjago city. How can you say this was a bad year. Those Lego websites with Rakuten 15% plus those GWP. The NASA shuttle comes to $170 minus gwp =$130 minus Rakuten 15% drops it 22.50 to $ 107.50. Plus Lego vip points gives you a price cost of $97. This with Ninjago city and Walmart $ for the office that was available for days. You must have been asleep these days to thinks this was a bad Black Friday. The parrot and Cyber Monday having the Millennium Falcon for $100. That was available for almost 3 hours. Sorry dude but you are so wrong. I didn’t even mention the deals last night on Uber eats. They were very isolated but amazing.

No normal Lego hobbyist is picking up any of those sets you listed. The normal majority picks up affordable sets for the FUN of Lego. Not everyone is a dedicated collector or a diehard fan of Lego. Especially with their ludicrous prices.
