Nice video! Always nice to buy something you like so you can build and that big minifig is a great set! There's a lot of modifications one can make to have it be a classic space figure, or something else. Congrats on the birth of your child! I am sure they will enjoy the Lego plush you got. :) Just subscribed and looking forward to more videos! I've done pretty well selling retired Brickheadz btw. I wait to list them until a few months after they've been retired. There are a lot of completionists out there who have to have all the sets or all the Disney sets or whatever IP they like. So the Daisy Duck and Mickey Spring festival should sell well. Daisy retires at the end of the year if I recall correctly.

Thank you so much for commenting! I loved building the Up Scaled Minifigure but its big blue cap really hides its shiny yellow face 🙂. So I will be looking at the mods also 👍 Daisy Duck should be retired since december of 2023. Out of all the current in production BH sets I think Eve/Wall-E will do the best because people still enjoy/remember the movie, it’s very kid friendly and currently available for cheaper than most other 2 character BH sets. So to double my money I would only have to sell it at about 32€ compared to 50€ with the other BH sets.
@thebrickhikerАй бұрын
@@Karltheinvestor Aaah, that's right, it was to be retired last December! I think it still had a few sales in early 2024 on clearance if I recall. I still have a fair number of them I will resell eventually. I like that BH sets don't take up a lot of space. :) I'm sure there's some mods out there for adding hair to the figure! Though that might mess with the little minifig that sits inside. :) Wall-E is always a good bet on reselling - a great movie, and a lovable character and yes, I don't know why TLG priced that 2-pack cheaper than other 2-packs, but I'm glad they did. :) A worthy set to hold for investment for sure. I bought a few of the Avatar BH sets too in hopes those might increase in value as Lego is clearing them out, but they've been clearing them out on sale for months in the US, which is not a good sign. They either sell slowly, or they produced far too many of them. So I am unsure those sets will increase in value too much, but I am hopeful! :)

@@Karltheinvestor Do you think that we here in Europe we have other market for bying or selling LEGO (different themes of LEGO)? You buy also polybags?
@KarltheinvestorАй бұрын
Well we here in Europe can’t compete with the sales in US Targets and Walmarts. If you look at Reddit people post pics of deals in Target and Walmart and they are absolutely crazy compared to anything that we can imagine having in our stores. Also the sets themselves are a lot more expensive in Europe compared to US if you change locations on the Lego store. For themes I don’t think the Star Wars theme is as big in the EU as it is in the US. I think Minecraft sets could be more profitable to go into than Star Wars. Still Speed Champions is king in my opinion. People love to collect those, young and old. Cars appeal to a very large audience. Yes I buy polybags also if I can get them for 3-4€ (Batman and Ninjago for example).
@sophiegielis3745Ай бұрын
@@Karltheinvestor Thank you, for your response Karl, i enjoy your vids and comments and took subscription on your channel. I have also a few subscriptions on US channelholders, but like you tell the market is different, with others themes that do better in the US than EU! For me, i have not much experience, because i only started buying LEGO sets to collect(in the future maybe sell) and to build. I don't now what is the average time you need to sell a set (after EOL) and trough wich channels? I have in my stash Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Ninjago and a few Speed Champions. U never buy sets that cost more than €100 à piece . Polybags i buy between €2,5 and €3 maximum. The items in polybags ihave are Venom, Batman,Ninjago and Harry Potter. For the discounts in Belgium you can count sometimes 25% à 30%and rare 40%. Are there other themes outside Minecraft, the EU collectors/builders like? How are doing City sets in the EU? Are there some EU forums/channels where you can find more information/data? Thank you already for your response Karl.
@KarltheinvestorАй бұрын
Thanks for subscribing :) I've been super busy the past couple of days with my kid and and some Lego orders that came in. My number one theme to invest in is Speed Champions. I'm already selling last years F&F Dodge Charger, Toyota Supra, 007 Aston Martin for more than double than I paid for. The hold time depends on what price you got the set at. Some sets you may find for a crazy deal somewhere and you can flip them the next month. But with Speed Champions for example you can start selling them for a premium the moment they are retired and run out of stock in your local online shops/supermarkets. I think the best Speed Champions sets to slowly start stockpiling currently are the Audi 76921, the Ferrari 76934 and the double pack MB 76924. The MB double pack with the black G Class is going to be HUGE in retirement I think. Once that set retires I imagine it's going to be a gold mine. With that being said the bigger Technic G Class 42177 is also a great set to aim for. As far as information on markets/trends I use brickeconomy mostly. I suggest you go through the local stores on Bricklink or Bricklink stores close to your country with cheap shipping, you may also find some great deals there. Atleast that was my experience. Also I suggest going through the local FB marketplace and local buying-selling websites to find undervalued sets/minifigures.

It was a very cool build! Even my wife loves the set (who is usually very critical of sets 😀).
@dimosscratch2797Ай бұрын
i am not sure i see a mistake here. you bought the buildable minifig for yourself, right? in that case the box condition is not critical . if you bought it for investing, you can return it. the lego customer service is top notch, you can even ask for some insiders points for the box damage if you decide to keep the set.
@KarltheinvestorАй бұрын
The “mistake” part is sarcasm ofcourse 😀. The joke seems to be that people who invest in Lego don’t build sets themselves. I really wanted the “mistake” to be the Jaws set but that is still waaaaay over priced IMO.
@dimosscratch2797Ай бұрын
@@Karltheinvestor that is surely not the case. sice 3-4 years endless amounts of people buy lego sets for investing and stash them at home. most of them build lego sets themselves. sadly, a large fraction of them will build the stashed sets once they realize how little lego sets appreciate nowadays.

I forgot to say it in the video but I actually wanted to use the Insider week to buy the Lego Ideas Jaws set to build since for me it is only available to buy from Lego.com. But at 165€ that set even at double Insider points is so over priced with ~1500 pieces. So I opted for the buildable minifigure instead. Come on Lego, discount the Jaws set already 🥲.

If customs opens the packages they have to leave a note about the search. In todays time these checks are done via x-ray anyway so why the need to open them. What a mystery 😀
