I feel the biggest improvement is the tail section that now tapers down towards the engines. The old one had produced a weird disconnect.

I like how it looks with the old school double canopy. You're right that it interfaces with the nose piece much better. I've never had one of the canopy extension pieces and feel a bricklinking is in order to get one. Recently I've been playing around with using two canopies together to make sleek space-fighter MOCs. One canopy is the usual way up, and the other is inverted beneath it, making a nice and pointy totally glass cockpit.

When I saw that as the gift with purchase, I knew I had to get it. I ended up getting the Optimus Prime and a small technic set to reach the $190, and I'm so glad I did. I missed out on classic space by a few decades, but it still holds a fond place in my heart and I love the updated cruiser.

That double canopy makes it look so much more like an actual Blacktron 1 set, plus being a two seater gives it a reason to exist besides just supplanting the old version.I'd also want to replace the red solar panels with the old style trans clearant red ones. I wish they'd do these tributes as retail sets. Just put out 1 or 2 sets a year from random defunct space themes. or even just reissues with tweaks for new molds.

Ooh, that's a neat looking GWP. I'm personally holding out for the upcoming Bionicle GWP, as that holds a lot of childhood Nostalgia for me.

That's a tough one, I do like the new sleek canopy a lot. But that double canopy does give it more of a retro vibe for sure.

I much prefer the double canopy. It definitely has more of the classic Blacktron look. Also, when going into space, the more friends the better!

I like both versions. The original one has a fast and dangerous raptor look (fit for a pirate fighter) and the modified one has more of a space truck / tanker look. Both work well, but I will keep mine with the "out of the box" canopy.

Now I know what LEGO set I want for my 27th birthday. I mean I would love to have the Delorean, but is a tad little expensive however this one looks pretty neat.

I'm annoyed that this and the Forest Hideout set were gift with purchases. It basically makes an already expensive hobby even more elitist. Not everyone has the disposable income for these GWP sets, and they're just destined to be scalped on the secondary market.
