This is always the first channel I go to when I want to watch a review. I definitely want to get this set because I have Pirates of Barracuda Bay. I have no Nostalgia for old pirates, being a 2000s kid, but this line is so appealing to me for some reason.

I much prefer the older box style with the flip up lid, would be great to see one of these reimagined sets with that classic style packaging. Lego is a nice, high quality, high price item and I think, only for the larger sets, they deserve more than a cereal box! Even 10 dollar Easter eggs come with more elaborate packaging and plastic inner trays etc. These cereal boxes make the set feel cheaper and far less collectable. Would also have been great to get the same original wall panels with the same prints as on the original set. The set does create some nostalgia in a first glance, the original is the first Lego set I ever had, but it's not the same. So still looking for a decent boxed original, though I might still get this one on sale as Lego is definitely lacking in pirate related offerings.

Dang - I am going to have to get rich and buy a house to put all of my Lego wish list sets into. I don't have anything like this set at all - I'm more into Speed Champions and Technic cars, but the appeal of castles and pirates and such is not lost on me. Great review - I enjoyed it a lot!

Wow, I like this re-imagining even better than the original. Don't get me wrong, I let my grandson play with the 1967 red dump truck (331) and we have loads of fun with the old creations, but this is way more satisfying for a builder. The children... won't like building so much small stuff, but they will play it!

I did not realize that the base plate is brick built in the new set. This expains why the set is so amazingly expensive. I kind of liked the one piece base plate from before though... oh well :)

Jól meg vannak csinálva a filmek, élvezetes és választékos(!) az angol szöveg, az akcentuson ugyan hallani hogy magyar vagy, de egyáltalán nem zavaró módon. I have a question for the interview. Do they have any plans to design the Set 10210: Imperial Flagship as a Lego Icon set? Seeing we get Imperial guards with this set.....Would be amazing to see that massive ship make a comeback.

It was pointed out by Jang that one of the black dock is strangely raised high, above this Marchand ship height. Maybe it is to board a bigger ship to come? Who knows 😊

Can’t wait to army build those soldiers. Fingers crossed they will be available on PAB like the falcon and lion knights. But the classic spaceman torso for some reason isn’t on PAB so I’m praying that these will be. It will make Lego a lot of extra money as there are a lot of army builders out there

Q3: the raised baseplate are iconic (at least for my generation). How did you choose the scale ? It looks to be the same size as the original. Galaxy Explorer re-edition goes for 150% .. what are the discussion for this set ? Q4: it’s so great how you managed to built it modular with so much play features. The set looks Amazing! I'm looking forward to build it as I never had the originale set. I love all the details and the major playability given by the underground space of the built baseplate. I have only one doubt-question: is the designer totally satisfied by the solution of the Governator office in the top? That space looks like sacrificed, and in the classic configuration is strange to see the cannon so close to the table.

Why has Lego began remaking old sets? Is there any more plans to expand remade lego pirates or are there going to more one off remakes for themes?

I can tell you why already:). Because many kids that were playing with those sets as a kid are now adults and with money, so they can refurbish old projects, tinker with the design, polish it with new building techniques and sell for more money because AFOL's will pay the price. Don't get me wrong, I'm not codemning them for it but it is nothing more than nostalgia baiting. And you know what, it works, because despite the fact that I know that it is cynical cash grab I want one;). I spent many hours with my friend's pirate ship and shooting with those cannons so it is definitely one for me (although I am more a technic fan). But for now Barracuda Bay is the winner for me ... or maybe both:D. It would be fun to attack Eldorado Fort with Barracuda ship. But I don't why they don't use those gold 1x1 round gold tiles that imitated gold bullion as a treasure. I have those from my old 90's sets and I think that they look way better than those new ones.

I know Lego is nostalgiamining their AFOL userbase but 18+ come on, why did TLG put that age rating on there? There is just no logical reason and only serves to tell parents that no, don't buy this for your kids this is way too difficult to build/contains adult themes. But that is just silly, these kind of sets deserve to be played with, not exclusively built and put on some shelf to collect dust by some collector. I didn't own the 6276 but I did have a whole bunch of pirate/spanish armada themed sets (6280 being my absolute favorite) and they were always such a blast to play with, since any surface can just be the ocean without any need for plates. Just put down a blue cloth and you're good to go for many adventures at sea. I think out of all the original lego themes, this along with maybe the underwater and the space sets (early 90s) were my favorites. Also that ribbon that now has the sets name (and used to say LEGOLAND) should just be allcaps, this looks wrong. Don't get me wrong I love it that TLG is bringing these older themes back as "AFOL sets", but they should imo still focus on sets with great play features (like this one seems to have with all the minifigs, accessories and boats), just keep them accessible to kids!

Unpopular opinion but I hate the new baseplate. It makes it much harder to display on an IKEA bookshelf as it's going to stick out. I much prefer the squarish baseplate.

Not sure I understand. The original had the square baseplate with a fix size that would stick out on a bookshelf for sure. The new edition is flexible, the sections can be rearranged in a row so it is possible to display it on a shelf.

I would like to know how TLG deals with this period of history, specifically with the problematical nature of the events of that time. Themes like colonialism and slavery. In my view these are difficult questions that come with this era, and tend to be problematic however you choose to deal with them. I'd just like to know if this is something that is discussed within TLG and how they come to the decisions they do.

Another comparison is all the Minifigures were male in the original set. Before the days of having to pander to the woke diversity crowd. How many female soldiers would there have been in a setting like this historically? None.

But you know that it is just a kids toy. It doesn't need to be historically accurate. Are dragons or wizards historically accurate? Because they are a big part of castle theme. And if you want to be historically accurate, why there are no black pirates in the crew, because there were many black pirates in the Caribbean. If you are so offended by the female minifigures just changed their heads, Lego is so great because you can change things yourself in the original project.
