I have been buying Lego keyrings to top up purchases to the free gift threshold. They are only £5 so it allows you to hit the magic £130 with hardly any overspend. Being a small low priced item they might work quite well at brick festivals, even if you get get rid of them at cost, it means you haven't got money sitting there tied up in sets with far away retirement dates. But also some of the retired ones make really good money 3 or 4 times the original purchase cost, and they don't take up much space to store.

Hi Alex - I have thought about doing this but to be honest I dont mind spending a bit more as I am still getting the sets I want. I have had a few key rings in the past for sale and they have sold ok.

Nice haul buddy and stocking up already!! 👍 Took all my Star Wars GWP sets down to Weston with me and sold all six of each that I had … Sail boats at £35, Death Stars at £40 and coin with poly for £20, so it’s well worth doing these orders!! I got home on Sunday and put some orders in with Smyth’s, as they had the Tall neck on at £60 and some of the retiring this year Star Wars helmets for £44!! Look forward to next haul!! 👍

Thanks Lee. I also had my Death Star II's on at £40 and sold both. I sold 2 coins for £15 each and 3 x-wing polybags for a fiver each. I took 1 sailboat and had it on at £25. Maybe I should charge more next time! Good to hear you are already stocking up on the new deals!

Thanks Jai, I though £93 was pretty good anyway, but then to be able to use the £55 in Amazon gift cards i had accumulated in recent Lego.com sales (2 × £20 vouchers and 1 x £15 voucher) it reduced the savings even more.

Argos are selling the Leia (Boushh) helmet, although I haven't seen it discounted unlike the two clone helmets. The Commander Cody helmet is currently 20% off at Argos atm.

Gratz! Surprising SW haul, I expected more Dark Trooper helmets and Republic fighter tanks which is what I bought during the promo, unless you reached your limit on Lego ofcourse. I reached my limit on those now as well, but my counter on Lego was reset not that long ago and increased from 2 sets to 5 sets on those two.

I don’t know if you have mentioned it before but what is the average length of time you hold onto a set after it retires before you sell it? I’m just thinking with those Princess Leia Boussh helmet sets if they don’t retire until the end of 2024 and if you hold onto them for two or three years it would be about 2026 or 2027 before you sell them.

I normally like to hold onto thing for at least a year after retirement, so yes, I will be holding onto those Leia sets for a while. I don't mind as I have plenty of other stuff that I've held onto for a long time.

Could you explain how groupon works with the £20 thing please?

Yes, of course. Search for Groupon Discount Codes. Put 'Lego' in the 'Search Vouchers and Offers' box. That will take you to all the Lego deals they have at the moment. Look for the £20 gift card for £100 spend offer, and all you need to do is put your email in, and the n you willbe taken to the Lego website to place your order. Once on the Lego website, best not to click off it as it may reset everything. Once your order is placed, wait for Lego to dispatch it and they will send you your Lego invoice. Not long after that you should receive an email where you can just claim your voucher.

Didn’t realise you could do the sailboat code and still get the voucher. Just wondering why you used the £20 voucher at Groupon rather than vouchercloud that seems to have the same deal. Is groupon better?

@@Badgers_9 Vouchercloud and Groupon are basically the same company, but for some reason their discount codes work a little differently. The Groupon discount dode was activated just by putting my email address in and has worked every time for me so far. The Vouchercloud one can be a bit hit and miss for some people, plus I had used it before so I didn't want it not to work, so used Groupon instead.

I have set up an account with VoucherCloud but it was free and all you really need is an email address. For the Groupon Voucher Codes, all I do is follow the link for the Lego deal , put in my email address and it then takes you to the Lego site. Not even had to set up an account.
