This ship looks straight out of a Lego Movie. I don't think it's as cool of a display piece as the Benatar, but for a hundred bucks it doesn't feel like a bad deal.

After seeing the movie Star Lord does indeed not have the helmet, which if you've also seen you may wonder why as he really could've used it. Well I think that it's because Gunn deliberately broke it in Vol. 2, but the people behind the Avengers movies didn't pay attention to that detail and gave it back to him

I would actually have to disagree, I think this set captures the look quite well. I think the bulk ur referring to is simply lost due to the scale they went for which I think is understandable.

I didn’t even recognize the ship from the set. I genuinely thought this was perhaps a new ship because I didn’t think I’d seen it on-screen. I went to Google for reference and immediately realized I had seen the ship, remembered it, and knew this set wasn’t that. The actual ship is very chonky and wide. This set kind of just looks like a space squid.

It was never going to be super accurate at this price! The set was such a fantastic build experience that surprised me! Great shapes and so on. Great to see the side shuttles featured in it. I liked the engine inside easter egg too!

While it's bad that LEGO hasn't included Star-Lord's helmet in a set since 2017, I believe his helmet will not be appearing in Vol. 3. None of the other toys for Vol. 3 have his helmet included. Drax being green is likely from several other LEGO KZbinrs insisting that Drax is green, even though James Gunn and several others have confirmed that he is gray in the movies.

Interesting for the Star-Lord helmet. I didn't realize it was not even in the guardians ship, and a quick search on BL and RB only gives 2 parts that were only used in 2014 and 2017 (the 3rd one was for the T'Challa CMF). Maybe would have been nice to make one the year they have it in the helmet collection.

Very cool ship, the Guardians are going through quite a number of ships since the first movie where they had the Milano, this one is very unique, it looks a little bit small compared to the others, but the design is very interesting nonetheless, cool review, Jang!

9:50 That’s exactly what I did with this January’s Minecraft sets. I wanted the Allay & Emerald Armor Steve minifigures but refused to buy the whole sets they come in because I didn’t have the space & didn’t want to pay $80 just for 2 figures I liked. So, I waited for the figures to be listed individually on BrickLink & just now in mid April I was able to get both of them by themselves for only $15. It was definitely worth the 3 & a half month wait!

Something really good about this ship is that it is actually quite big, but doesn't actually a lot of table/stand space to sit on. Honestly if I actually end up liking the movie, I might actually buy this one just for the appeal of having a cool, huge, original-looking ship but not using a lot of display space. And I almost never buy licensed sets.

Is this really the replacement for the Benatar and the Milano? Looks cool enough but I don’t feel like it surpasses either of its predecessors. Both in just design and their depictions in Lego.

A great and informal review! I really like the colors in the shape, which are very interesting. But for me personally, it doesn't really scream the "main characters" ship. I much prefer the Milano to me it was much more of an iconic ship. Anyways, great review and keep up the good work!

I don’t necessarily agree with the overpriced compartment, as $100 is pretty fair compared to a majority of prices these day. While I would like it bigger (to be more accurate), I understand why Lego went with this approach. Though if you get this, the headquarters, and have the Advent Calendar from last year you can certainly create some nice scenery. As a lot of people are already forgetting that the Bowie was in the Holiday Special

Cockpit seats 3, and the lower hatch easily fits 1. So the whole team that comes with the set can fit inside (leaving Adam to fly alongside). Might be able to squeeze 2 people into the lower hatch if you’re creative.

It’s not a bad set, I just feel like it doesn’t capture the feeling of the ship from the film. Definitely one I’d like to see another attempt at in a bigger scale

Star Lord doesn't come with a helmet because he doesn't have a helmet anymore (unless he does again, I haven't seen the Vol. 3 trailers). The helmet was broken during Vol. 2, he hasn't had one since.

The general shape of it reminds me of the Black Zero Man of Steel spaceship from 2013, and Jay's Lightning Jet from 2017 movie. Still this is very unique, and in a good way!

Eh, i don't know if I agree with your sentiment about minifigs. Like yeah, you can buy it alone later, but some minifigs tend to have ridiculously high resale prices. Adam looks great. Really. But if I really wanted him, if he's more than five bucks on secondary market, I'll pass. Besides, this set looks like a solid part giver. Lots of useful parts in unified palette, i could work with that.

Personally bought this set because it has a bunch of that dark turquoise for MOCing (also was 15% off!) Was impressed with the build and the final product is a very fun Lego set. I'm in love with the fact that a ship with such a small cockpit space can fit FOUR minifigures (while others of equal size usually only can fit 1-2) and all of the clips for minifigure accessories, the majority of which (there are two extra on the very back of the rings, potentially) conceal them as well. Still going to take it apart for MOCing (the generic sci-fi bodies of 4 included minifigures also is ideal) but would highly recommend to anyone considering it for play or display as well.

Thanks for the review. I'm not feeling this design, but to be fair I haven't seen GotG Vol3 at this point, so I feel no attachment to the in-universe thing. I just feel it lacks the Milano's of Benatar's majestic look, IMHO. The build itself does look very interesting with crazy angles pulled off very well.

It just makes me sad that there's barely any interior space in the ship. I want to be able to fit all the guardians in the ship. The last time we had a guardians ship with a lot of interior space was the 1st Milano and even then that was just ok.

This set looks really cool. But while watching this review, it made me think that maybe we’ve reached a point where LEGO has *too many* elements? This construction didn’t really even look like I have always remembered LEGO looking, so complex and full of such specialized parts. Interesting to think about!

I think we've been at this point since at least 2019. Don't get me wrong I still love a lot of the new lego sets especially the adult sets (despite the prices), but as the demand for accuracy has grown larger than the demand for a "toy" the amount of specialized parts has increased. ESPECIALLY tiny parts. It's crazy to think the curved 1×1 tile only came out around 5 years ago and you can find it in almost every set.

For a $100 set I'd expect some more features. At least some stud shooters?? And the interior is so small compared to the size of the ship. Well, I suppose that's due to the negative space in the design, but it's such a weird ship and as a result of that, a weird Lego set. I'm very happy I picked up the original Milano back in 2014

I am not at all interested in the source material this set comes from but this is a very interesting looking thing! It very much reminds me of Sweet Mayhem's Systar Starship, for the similar colour scheme (although this has dark grey instead of white), and the weird unusual shaping and design. This is certainly better overall value than the Systar ship, but it's still pretty expensive; surprised by how very bare the amount of spare pieces there are left over too! I guess this uses quite a number of average sized or larger than average pieces, having noticed a number of mudguard pieces, canopy pieces, the fixed-angle limbs you mentioned and pieces that are 2x2 or larger. Wouldn't mind building this, but not likely to commit to buy this due to lack of interest in the source material to begin with; although I may take the punt with a hefty discount, like I did with the Inquisitor Transport Scythe.

Looks like a really nice set, but those minifigures really make me mad. Draxx, Nebula, and Mantis are the three guardians I don't have in my collection, and they decided to give them all the same torso and legs. It's like those stupid Endgame sets all over again, except the Nova Corps uniforms aren't nearly as ugly as the time jump suits.
