LEGO Paradisa Poolside Paradise 6416 Review..Baseplate has an Actual Pool! & 90s Version of Modulars

Hey LEGO Maniacs! Today we'll be reviewing our very first Paradisa themed LEGO set, and let me tell you it does not disappoint...
The base plate has an actual pool and the overall look of the model is fantastic. We'll get into exactly why

@@TieTheLegoGuy Lego needs to bring raised baseplates back! They're excuse is that they break too easily but doesn't make any sense, you can just have the same kind of moulds and reinforce them on the bottom...

@@Yonatan_Max completely agree, I have about 30 or so baseplates roughly and none of them have ever broke in the last 20 years. Just don't be dumb with them lol

I still remember the day I bought this set... my younger brother and I had saved up our money from selling toys at a garage sale, and we had enough to buy this Paridisia set and the 6268 Renegade Runner and 6271 Imperial Flagship all at the same time. What a joyous day for me as a young Lego-addicted kid.

Really like this walkthrough of this cool set and yes, I agree it has some ancestors to modulars. I just recently learned about the Paradisa theme as I was looking for a cafe for my LEGO classic town and this was the first set I managed to buy. What a wonderful theme full of 90s positive vibes. It reminds me of Miami Vice and Baywatch. I was surprised there was no Facebook Group for it, so I've just set one up.

The girl minifigure is supposed to have a face with freckles, not the standard smiley face. (I just restored this childhood set that was at my parents, so my children can play with it)

I had this set as a child and recently recovered it from my parents loft. The baseplate is sadly missing (just got one on eBay for £20!) and I am not sure I have 100% of the pieces but I am going to try and put it all back together. I am sure I also had some of the other sets that were linked to it (6409 Island Arcade and 6410 Cabana Beach).

Though not as rare as the pink elements, the vast majority the pieces in white and in the old light grey in this set debuted with the Paradisa theme. One of these was the 1x6x2 brick w/ bow in white, which was in 33 other sets over eighteen years, though the only set I had with it was the "Scorpion Palace" (7418) from Orient Expedition. It was retired in 2010 after appearing in a City set (8403) that year.

I don't know if I'm weird, but I really like this theme. In comparison to LEGO Friends, the Girl's Theme of today, the sets are simpler in their techniques, as one would expect, but something about the washed out colours make it so much easier on the eyes compared to friends sets. This also has pink etc. on it, but I think due to it being a lighter version it doesn't jump at you too much and it adds to LEGO Town, unlike Friends, which mainly due to the figures is mostly separated from LEGO City, which is quite something LEGO misses out on. I can imagine this theme got LEGO a female audience and if they liked the theme and the ideas of the LEGO Brick itself, they might expand to the "Boy's themes". To me LEGO was always everything for everybody but I will admit that it is mostly known as a boy toy.

Whats funny is i feel completely the same way. Very underrated theme and blended better into other themes which i think is great, my sis was into LEGO too, and it is a boys toy generally but I think everyone can enjoy it. You better believe if i have kids one day and some are girls they will be introduced to LEGO lol

@@TieTheLegoGuy I'm no marketing expert, I'll leave that to others, but I'm a bit unsure if the Friends Minidolls are necessary. I feel like they split up boys and girls when playing with LEGO. But I'm a man, so I'm not the right one to judge these kind of things.

I'm not exactly sure either but I don't hear of many girls going crazy about the mini doll, would be worth looking more into it though as a youtube channel. but i agree with that, my sis and me always played LEGO together and this was obviously before friends, i could see that maybe creating more of a distinction nowadays. Back then everyone played with the minifigs

Although Paradisa was a series that was targeted for younger girls, it was a cool theme that can be added to any Lego town or city.

Is this sets' baseplate the exact same piece as the Sphinx surprise set, or are they different? Besides the obvious color difference, I'm not sure if the door area with the steps are present in the sphinx baseplate version.

Yeah surprisingly its exactly the same (have had both in hand) the steps are even there too, but the coloring is so different its hard to tell

@@TieTheLegoGuy That's a woman of culture actually😉 Note: My brother uses this account too. I don't have any Paradisa sets but I have to say they are rather nice especially this set. They remind me of the days I used to go to Wales with my grandparents in the summer holidays. We had a caravan in Harlech quite close to the beach and local swimming pool and was a shop down the road that sold ice cream and lollies. Also this set remind me of the Polly Pocket playsets where the setting is a pool I used to have. I had a thing for playsets that had pools you fill with water or slides on them.
