Basil and Gypsy Moth used to fuck my shit up as a kid. They seemed significantly harder than the other bosses. You pretty much destroyed them with the mummy's curse.

Johnny Thunder coming dead last on the first race was so crazy to see lol. He got absolutely demolished by items 😂 impressive gameplay to do this without speed powerups! Well done!

The sickest bit for me is seeing Broadside actually finishing second in a race. I always thought the finishing positions were hardcoded if the player wins. It's interesting to see how tight the game without green bricks actually is. Without shortcuts/AI using shortcuts too some races wouldn't have been won.

@@Dormazain If the AI doesn't finish before the scoreboard pops up, it will always put the champion second place and than the other drivers in order of their coded position. The game is literally cheating there, but yes Broadside was crazy in that race.

Yeah it's rare, but it can happen. I've finished the final circuit in second before with the boss behind me in 3rd

It's mad that so many of the champions in each circuit were forced down into 3rd or even lower on some occasions.. Maybe using green bricks is overrated

It's a nice change of pace for sure. Using green bricks kinda takes away alot of the games charm in my opinion, because you are so far ahead most of the time and don't have to bother about the other racers. The champions were falling behind so much because of the mummy curses, I guess. 🤔

One thing that is stupid within the ai is switching from a red power shield to the blue. There are many oddities like this within the programming.

That's true, they do funny things all the time, but some of them do actually save up the whites to attack. Mostly the champions do that. The blue racers shouldn't be underestimated, though. They sometimes catch you off-guard an take the lead out of nowhere. It happened in this video a view times.

@cheatingandy8275 the blue racers are separated into 2 different speeds different than the Champion. The upper row blue cars I still consider to be threats. The back row cars are much slower. It's hard to get them to win any place but 5th and 6th, but occasionally they are lucky

It's a nice detail but easy to miss. The loading times are just too fast. On the first two tracks of circuit three were shortcuts planned and are also marked on the map, but never made it into the final version. I spend hours as a kid try finding them. 😅
