Maybe giving their clothes the slightest bit of blue colouring could fix the problem of the top half looking to much like the original. a little bit like the moaning myrtle but keeping their flesh toned skin and hair as to not mistake it for full transparency but keeping those transparent legs and I think it would look much more like a force ghost

I think the most simple solution would actually be transparent blue minifigures but give them full printing, Lego has an ongoing issue with printing pale colours at full opacity and I think in this case it would actually work in favour of creating that ghostly glow. Literally print the flesh tone on the faces and the light tan onto the torso, the opacity should be strong enough to hide the webbing but not opaque enough to fully hide the transparency of the piece, which I think would really effectively convey that ethereal essence the ghosts should have. edit: Really should've just kept watching the video

Like I said in the interview, this is probably the best compromise between what Lego would be most likely to do while still being accurate to of the variety of force ghosts in Star Wars. Bagglesstudio probably has the best force ghost concept/design. I own all 3 figures (obi wan, Anakin, yoda) and I'd imagine it's most likely what lego would follow if they ever release force ghost figures. Trans-blue just seems to hologram for me.

Love this. I think a way to bring the look together even more would be with a transparent cape (if the character wears a cape ofc) like they also did with the vision figure you brought up. It would bring some of that transparent blue to the upper part of the minifigure without being too overpowering

could make the base of all the parts of the figure that trans blue and then put the colored print you have over those parts, the print would cover the connections and you'd see the trans blue on the sides of the torso, the hands, any non printed part of the arms and the head etc. which would give the fig that blue outline effect without it looking like a hologram due to the print covering most of it

Those blue legs AND a conservative trans-blue cape, the cap is kind of the only way to get an aura around their edges from most angles The legs alone just aren't enough

I think the see-through blue legs is a great start, maybe adding a similar tint to the printing would help blend it more and get it closer to the ideal. You could also make the hands and half the arms have the same clear effect so it isn't as clear-cut start and stop as this is.

I think the translucent legs are neat, but the issue I have is the normal color of the rest of the minifig. If possible, I think they should use opalescence colors, which are semi transparent and also have a pearly blue shine. They would have to do new colors for skin tones, but brown just so happens to already exist. When I look at the transparent blue, they just look like holograms, or hitch hiking ghost.

An interesting way to do the force ghost wouldn't just be the legs, but also the arms. Dual molded arms and dual molded legs with printing to help fade from solid to transparent. That could look cool.

I think that in the most idea scenario, working with what we can, LEGO would do partial transparent light blue pieces on the legs and I think even the hands, and then have a mix of regular printing and bluish printing like the HP CMF. Mixing the two would give you I feel the best mix of all three approaches. Hell, if they wanted to, they could even potentially do dual molded arms with the lower half being transparent light blue for just that extra bit of ghostliness. Super tempted to give something like this a shot. I've been LOVING making custom digital minifigs recently, so it could be a fun little side project!

I think the sides of the min figure would also need to be transclear blue too and a slight crop of the torso printing to have some of the blue outline stand out too and give off the movie appearance and went be light it should carry through and up to the torso and shoulders

What would a transparent fig look like with full printing over it? Like the legs for your concept figures but applied to every piece.... torso and back print, unique arm prints that fade out towards the hands, a face print that fades into the transparent head and hair pieces...

I'd probably also suggest transparent arms with printing, but for cost-cutting measures, LEGO probably would do transparent legs with prints. Honestly, probably the best they could do as a compromise (aside from being more like Moaning Myrtle.)

what I think they could do is put some sort of radioactive substance in the plastic molding with some sort of dye, for example, a blue dye with plutonium mixed with plastic could give it that nice blue force ghost glow while also not being transparent and then they could work on the hues for the plastic, maybe a bluish grey tint as well to the normal colors

Go the colour from the Myrtle figure and keep the translucent legs to avoid having to have a light brick. If you happened to have the light brick on top of that, it'd be absolutely perfect and I couldn't think of anything else to make it better

That is not a bad look with the transparent legs and printing. Though I think like the Moaning Myrtle version the best. It really comes off as a ghost. And Anakin does still have a blue outline in Ahsoka.

My though on this idea is we still go with the translucent blue , but the printing won't be just the outline of the figure, but rather dotted printing, instead of printing a huge shape with color, we allow some small spaces for the blue to push through, or maybe even faded printing. Print the details into fade but not to the point it's color is indistinguishable.

The Harry Potter moaning Myrtle ghost fig is proof if could be pulled off without being transparent. Mediocre figure printing on certain 25th anniversary figures shows Lego isn’t all about making a product perfectly accurate before release anyway

I did have an idea on how to combine what you had with the transparency legs and may be add the arms and hands as transparent as well with decals… but may be add the feature that Lego made in 2003 where they added lights and a battery in side of the minifig to light up the saber so add that and when pressing the head it would glow the mini fig with out a back light the tech is small and simple now I’m sure it be possible

I think they should do the blended-with-paint transparent legs, but also they should also do the same for the arms, and add glow in the dark blue color printing on top of the normal colored printing to emphasize that this is in fact a force ghost.

I know it would probably be impossible in practice, but i think if they could figure out a way to put a light inside a minifigure that would be best. Like if the minifigure print was like at 90% opacity and there was a blue light eminating from inside the chestpiece.

It might look mismatched given the solid torso but making the head translucent as well similar to what was done for Captain Salazar from pirates of the Caribbean would work to emphasize the effect and further replicate the glow seen on screen

I really like the cool idea that you have with the transparent legs. However, changing the overall figures colors to more of a blue tint much like that Moaning Myrtle figure and combining that with the transparent legs would be a perfect combination for a force ghost. I doubt that's something Lego would do but it would be the best option to represent them in my opinion. Great video tho keep up the good work!

Check out what the custom minifig maker Baggles did. They made a force ghost Anakin, Obi, and Yoda. I really like their design- they made the entire figure in a grayish-bluish hue.

I'm not sure why the torso can't be transparent too. Especially with the way torso prints are done on LEGO, you'd have a blue outline similar to what you see in recent movies.

I think the Moaning Murtle & Nearly Headless Nick are the best way for LEGO to make foce ghosts. Perhaps adding transparent legs, but honestly, the only transparent legs only look really odd to me.

Do you have a recommendation for a custom emperor minifigure? I mess never a big fan of his change from light gray to tan, and after the removal of his pupils and leaks seemingly confirmed that’s what “sith eyes” are now, I’ve started looking for a custom with light gray skin, with little success. (Most seem to be for TROS)

So just like the outer edge of the figure is that transparent blue but i feel like that'd require too much work for lego but if it could be done..... Though i think the whole bubble idea could be good as well just make the bubble into say a slightly larger minifigure.

I think the best solution would be to take the regular minifigure versions, add a very slight bluish filter over the whole thing and then print a solid blueish outline around them.

I don't think there's one right way, a definitive way to do force ghost, but I think there's some proven methods. Like you mentioned on the video, the blueish undertones is the prefered method. But even only outlining the prints with blue tones would already give that effect of glow. Another proven method that I could see Lego try implementing in some way is a blue vail coat, which is being done a lot with force ghost cosplays. Even just replacing the normal cape for a coat veil would probably go a long way. And the transparent figure is probably the most no brainer choice, although for me it was always with colored paint covering it all, with just a few parts and details left unpainted to give a look midway through both approaches. That's btw something I feel that could be improved on your design, if not making the other body parts also transparent, at least make the internal parts/connections with a transparent material, so when you shine a light brick on the feets the light goes through the torse and can shine a semi transparent head, or something like that. Of course, probably the ideal approach would be a mix of these methods. So light blue veil coat + blue highlights around all printed details + blue transparent printed legs.

I loved the idea. Looking at the reference material, Force Ghost are only a bit transparent and with a lower contrast. So, if lower contrast on the clothes and face it would look even better. But, I believe that this is the way :)

The transparent blue should be a new color, dark blue. It could fade from the blended printing of blue and normal color to transparent dark blue on the arms and legs, then the hands JUST transparent dark blue, without a fade. This'll differentiate between the lightsaber blue and Force Ghost blue. I think that'll be perfect.

Idk how this would be done, but Imo the best way to make a Force Ghost would be to mold/print the minifig in the appropriate colors for the character, but with a slight bluish tint & have the leg printing transition to clear blue like Vision. Not a full bluescale minifig like Moaning Myrtle, but a slight bluish tint (slight bluish brown for example). That'll be perfect, but Idk how Lego would go abt this. Also, speaking of Vision, Imo Vision ($500 Avengers Tower) is _SO_ close to being accurate. He should've been molded in sand green & his head printing printed on a silver/gunmetal head instead of blue-green. Then he would be the most accurate Vision minifig to ever exist.

In the OT, Obi-Wan’s force ghost looks different from movies to movies because of how Luke’s powers grow. In ANH, he is barely force sensitive so he only hears Obiwan’s voice, in ESB, on hoth, he is a bit better and sees OB really fuzzy like but later on dagobah after he has trained with Yoda, the Ghost of Obi-Wan is much clearer. Finally in ROTJ, luke is a Jedi and Obiwan’s force ghost is as clear as ever and in can now interact with things around him ( like sit on a log)

It very interesting, i wonder how trans hads and maybe arms would look? Also if they had a cape like Vision's that also faded into solid. The last thing that would be interesting to see is blue line art on the fig prints. I feel like it would help blend the blue through the fig, and give the impression of the "glow" even when not lit by the light brick.

man this video gets so close to an idea i've had for awhile. lego has put lights inside minifigures before (light up lightsaber figs) they should just put the light in the middle of the torso, same head push feature, and make every mold in trans blue (except the head/hair) with the character's regular printing

The main issuse is that you have to have the light brick on all the time, so the only way you'd get those kind of figs in a collector event may the 4th thing.

Who remembers playing as the Force Ghosts in Lego Star Wars 2? Edit: So who remembers the Anakin vs Obi-wan set from back in 2005 with the light up lightsabers? Now instead of having that blue light in the back drop, put it inside the figure and make it one solid piece like they did with the Anakin and Obi-wan figures, with the light shining from the transparent legs when you push the head down. That would fix the playabaility issue and it would look really cool

Maybe adding a slight bit of grey pigment to the upper portion would make it look better. Light bluish grey is too dark imo, just slightly lighter than that would look the best I believe.

Brilliant, the idea of using those transparent legs is genius. Perhaps they'd just need a blueish tint or more pale tint, though you are right that Anakin's new ghost in Ahsoka doesn't have any blue on his skin and clothes.

They should do all four that way everybody will be upset three different times. But they make custom weapons for ninjago and starwars all the time they also make custom armor for the collectable mini figure line all the time to. But they'd barely have to do anything, theres a clear version of the ghost shroud on bricklink for 200+ dollars. And it looks fine its just not blue. They'd only have to ditch the face and the tent its pitching on its head to make basically the same peice but more streamlined. Then pair it with some rounded energy wave with handle peices.

I like the idea, but them just having clear blue legs doesn't feel like it does enough to differentiate them from the non-ghost versions. Maybe if, in addition to the clear legs, the arms were dual moulded clear blue on the lower half and some blue printing in the wrinkles of the clothing and maybe some lines on the face would sell the effect a little better.

To the fairness of that translucent lightbrick idea up to the Luke Skywalker force ghost none of them really moved all that much. I mean obi wan's ghost sat down in one scene but that was the most movement we saw. So for 18+ sets like the dioramas they've been putting out it makes sense since most of the older audience has mixed feelings on the third trilogy anyway
