As for the engine, maybe the 3L beams are to provide more area for the 2L beams to hit the pistons so they don't get jammed. Also interesting what Lego flowers can do at 10:03
@joenoneoyobinnes47272 жыл бұрын
I can confirm this. I just got this set, and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the 3L lift arms used in this way. Just two weeks ago I built the heavy duty tow truck 42128 which has a similar crankshaft lifting mock pistons tat are the ends of 3L axles with stops: the operation of this mock engine is very noisy and has a lot of friction; the 3L lift arms look like a much better solution which I'm looking forward to seeing in action.

@willc2364 жыл бұрын
@@RacingBrick I am not familiar with the exact design of the engine bay, but it is possible that the 3l beams allow the pistons to sit closer to the crankshaft. With just plain axles, a fairly large amount of empty space must be left between the bottoms of the pistons and the crankshaft to prevent jamming

I was sitting at the Wendy's drive-up window so my step-daughter could grab something for breakfast on the way to her job. We live in a small town in Indiana. It was around 7am so it was still relatively dark out. I saw a truck coming up the road and it triggered my mind about this Volvo Hauler because I am currently assembling it. As it got closer, it started looking more and more like this vehicle. It was on the other side of the 3 lane road so it was still hard to make out what it was, but as it got closer, I could see the back looked familiar and then I spotted the long hydraulic cylinder on the side. I couldn't believe I just saw the real thing while I am building it in Lego's!!! What a ca-winky-dink.

GREAT Video. I am in desperate need of help with this build. When I turn the rear differentials by hand the front wheels move in the opposite directions from the rear ones and I think that explains why only the front wheels work when in gear. I halve already taken this thing apart and started all over. I have verified that the differentials are correctly installed as per the manual. I did notice that in your video you have the clutch installed with the white housing facing the red holder. In the build manual it has the white housing in line with the gear. Is the manual wrong here or does that not matter? I am stumped at this point. I cant finish the build until this is solved. What am I missing here?

I finished bags 3 so I had all the axles connected. I turned it upside down to check my work. I turned the rear differential and the 2 set of rear wheels turned one way but the front axle turned the opposite way. I double checked my work wondering what I did wrong. Then it occurred to me.....When you turn an axle one way, the axle on the other side turns the opposite way because of the differential. The rear wheels on this vehicle are connected to the front wheels thru another differential (the old style one), so the front wheels turn the opposite direction of the rear set of wheels. All is fine!!! DUH?!?!?

Disappointed in the design of this set compared to others like the Liebherr. As you mentioned, no confirmation opportunities as you build to confirm you are on the right track. Also, the gear elements that raise and lower the bed are only held in place by the gear at the end of the axel (5:30). After a few uses, they detach themselves.
