I feel that the lack of a knee joint was probably a decision made based upon LEGO's pretty strict guidelines on engineering. While neither of us know how strict they are, I think it's fair to say that it was most likely a result of it, similarly to the Voltron set where, just like the Optimus set, lacked knee joints as well

I think the knee joint criticism is valid, and I too am kinda sad abt it, but generally most lego sets such as Ninjago mechs have struggled with knee joints. It’s weird cause it wasn’t allways like this lego mecha and buildable figures even larger ones used to have knees they even have and still produce special friction joint pieces to help with weight issues . frankly it used to be standard since 2003 with the bionicle rahkshi really bothers me that they’ve just stopped using proper joints all together

The problem is that, while Lego have made larger more ambitious sets, most mechs like that don't have knees either. It's because individual lego joints can only support so much weight without being very carefully balanced. Even the heaviest-duty hinge-movement joints (the ones used for knees on things like the AT-AT sets) still are at risk of stability issues, and require a large area dedicated to fitting them into the built due to having a long bar piece for connecting them. Now, it still would be possible, and I guarantee we will be seeing videos on how to rebuild the knees to have a joint, but with Lego's stability standards I can understand why they weren't designed. They don't want him suddenly doing a Michael Jackson back lean and falling over which would be an even bigger problem for this than a normal transformer since, you know , it's Lego. It would break and then you might lose pieces.

But considering I love Lego and am a huge Optimus fan I will definitely be adding this to my small prime army haha

That being Zane's Titan Mech. Owning it myself, it's comprised of four different ball joints, two of which lead onto a general lever muscle, all so knees can bend. I cant wait to get this sick set! this made me very exited for this and when I saw it I was impressed with how it looks and the weapons the jet pack the energon the matrix of leadership and that little thing that shows primes speed strength etc (idk what it is called ) they are all mindblowing but the axe could be better but not bad but the optimus figure is just insanely amazing! I love that it dosent need any partsforming (except for that one piece for accuracy) this is a figure I will get as soon as I can (but I might get legacy bulkhead first or ss jolt my parents might get the bulkhead I would have gotten it there if I could but I am broke as hell so that is a no lol I wasent expecting to see bulkhead tho in Canada yet until next year I thougth I hope I can find more legacy figures as those have been hard for me to find recently lol)

Although I know the line is gonna end after optimus I'd really want g1 soundwave with the boom box mode

Great review! I NEED THIS NOW!!! But it ANNOYS me SO MUCH that you never reconnected the "waist" joint to the upper torso. 😂 I can't stand it!🤣 But really, great review!

There is a reason why he does not have knees. Lego has a rule they follow where any bipedal set can just be put down and not have to worry about balancing, the rule is mainly there for their key audience wich is kids. But many people (myself included) say that those rules should not apply to sets like this as it is marketed as 18+, but sadly its something Lego is adamant about following

Now we just need Lego Megatron, but lego Prime is pretty cool. Looking to buy it when it releases

Absolutely need Megatron!

@@PrimeVsPrime Lego would likely use Beast Wars Megatron considering what G1 Megs transforms into. They tend to shy away from realistic looking weapons or modern military-themed sets.

It’s amazing. My only complaint is it’s very flimsy in the core, but other that it’s awesome 👏
