The Canucks used that 9 million to not only sign Debrusk but Heinen and Sherwood. it's not a 1 for 1, DeBrusk is also younger. Overall we got equal or better value. Definite win.

I love DeBrusk's attitude. He's makin almost 40 mill for 7 years and he still drops quotes like "Every game I get play is a gift". I'll take a guy like that over Guentzel any day.

Jake also leads the team in goals so I guess no one on this team is very good huh Lego ?

debrusk is playing better then expected. you should only expect around 50 points from him. he is a really good second line winger. he has 25 points in 34 games. thats really good for a second line player.

A wingers productivity is directly dependant on the productivity of his center ice man . How have Petersen and Miller been doing so far this year? Yes, end of story . De risk is headed for a 30 goal season . Best of his career . Cut him some slack !

De Brusk was supposed to help Pete but it seems DeBrusk is helping Pete, instead. 5.5 vs 9 million for a 30 year old. 3.5 million in cap space is much needed to shore up the D. Unfortunately,Allvin signed three plugs ,instead.

In a way a pointless discussion. Worst case scenario for me. Defense is not good at all. The team is about ten pounds lighter per player than the top teams. I think of us as a bubble team and will have to fight for a Wild Card spot. And Petey needs a big guy to play with who will protect him. He seems so weak at times. Guys like Guentzel or Kucherov someone gives them a cheap shot it is a fight every time. Top players on Vancouver are not afforded that kind of protection. And it is sad they have never looked for that type of player who can play. A very passive team. Seems so many times the fans want skilled players with little or no toughness. We got a lot of things right with the team but there is still a lot more work. Three below average defensemen. And they will not get better. I hope things get better because as of now there is a good chance of missing the playoffs and even then I don't give us a chance to win the cup. We seemed a lot stronger last year. And the team was much more fun to watch last year.

They do have Sherwood and Joshua to help with the toughness. You’re right though

@@CanuckTony Joshua has never been a tough guy. Miller is the toughest forward on the team then really no one. But who fights , who gets the big teams to back down. Zadorov did a great job last year and made Petey happy. Cole was tougher than anyone on the team right now. Our star players get roughed up and cheap shots you would think there would be a couple fights per game.

Given there's all this talk about how DeBrusk and Guenzel compare, I'll point out the huge ELEPHANT in the room that Lego seems to be completely missing, in spite of how blazingly obvious it is. DeBrusk is YOUNGER then Guenzel. Yes, he's YOUNGER, that means he's NOT FINISHED DEVELOPING YET. Whereas Guenzel is in his PRIME, meaning he's as good as he's ever going to be. DeBrusk has the POTENTIAL to get much better. Yes, he's streaky, maybe he always will be, but if he develops at full potential into an 80 or 90 point guy, I'd call him an equivalent producer to Guenzel. Yes, Guenzel can drive the production of a line NOW, and DeBrusk can't, but that doesn't mean that will always be that way, as DeBrusk improves, and with the opportunities he's getting currently, he can most definitely improve a LOT, he MAY be able to in a couple of years, while Guenzel may have faded out of that capability by then. So yeah, I'd say at worst case scenario, DeBrusk is a very good consolation prize and someone who can yet work out to be a big part of our team far into the future. EDIT: To clarify, there are a few all caps phrases which may make someone THINK I'm angry, I'm not, I just use that as an alternate to bold face in this case since there is no bold feature in YT comments that I can find. The points that ARE raised in the video are valid points, and I agree with them for the most part, just the age thing was heavily underplayed and not brought up with as much relevance is it should be, both in this video and the references to the article.

Dude......debrusk is done developing. He's near the end of his prime right now. He'll be on the tail end of his prime in a year or two lol

Debrusk is only 1 year younger than guentzel dude.....like wth are you talking about. Isn't debrusk turning 29 and guentzels turning 30 lmao

@@ohbequietlol DeBrusk is 28 as of October, Guentzel is 30, as of October. So DeBrusk is 2 years younger then Guentzel and and will likely peak next year or the year after, before he starts his decline, while Guentzel is at his peak this year and will likely start to decline next year, or the year after.

@Seriously_Unserious I'm a former competitive hockey player. We don't peak at that old dude. You peak at like 28. Forwards tend to hit their prime at like 24. End their prime at about 30 at most

@@Seriously_Unserious defensemen are a different story. They hit their primes at a later age because they develop slower. It's defensemen and goalies that hit their primes later on in their careers. Forwards hit their prime around 24-25

Debrusk would have 3x more points playing with a playmaker like Jt. Ep40 has been declining rapidly. 😢

Wow Captain Obvious Guentzel top tier player. Playing with a non toxic team with top tier players. Debrusk is on career high pace playing with a toxic locker room and is clearly on Ep40 side as when Miller was out of the line up Debrusk put up good numbers and disappeared when Miller came back so your opinion is off on this one
