Bolt fan here. LOVE this acquire! We get younger with a guy who is a MUCH better 5v5 player than Stammer. We lose a bit on the PP. Stammer in his "office" is one of the all-time greats. 5v5...he's been "meh" for a while. Regardless, Stammer will have his number retired in Tampa and will go into the HoF as a Bolt. LOVE that man but it's a BUSINESS. And JBB made the right BUSINESS decision.

As a Canucks fan, I did not want Tanev back, if Toronto is dumb enough to overpay for an old and fragile defensemen, please have him

Well they are kinda desperate... They're tired of being the joke of the league.. this signing here only adds to it!..😅 they ARE the Dallas Cowgirls of the NHL!.. Their front office is in the brightest.. prideful and arrogant.. is the demise of who they are..

@@thewizardofoz511 I can understand why my hometown Leafs decided to try to sign Chris Tanev but for how many seasons he'll work out still remains TBD. That said, among Canadian NHL teams that qualified for the 2024 postseason, the: - Leafs struggled to score goals, having scored 3 or more in only ONE game (a 3--2 regulation win of the second game of their playoff series against the Bruins) but allowed UNDER 3 in FOUR (the only loss of such a game having come in the last [7th] one [2--1 in OT]) - Jets lasted 5 games, winning the first 7--6 in regulation over the Avs but having continued, from the 2023 postseason, a streak of 9 straight games of at least 4 goals allowed - Canucks found enough ways to score goals to take a 3-2 lead in their conference semi-final against the Oilers but during the last 2 games of that series would be outscored 8--3 - Oilers, even after having gone down to the Panthers 3--0 in June's Stanley Cup final, didn't quit, winning the next 3 games before falling in heartbreaking fashion 2--1 in the 7th game in regulation If I could pick a Canadian NHL team that needed a Chris Tanev the most, it would be the Jets given: - a 2-8 record over their past 10 playoff games - just ONE (a 5--1 win over the Golden Knights in April 2023, of game 1 of that series) during which they have allowed UNDER 3 goals - a 1--1 record, over their past 2 playoff series, in games decided by 1 goal vs just 1--7 in other games in those series, with the latter having included losses to the: - Golden Knights of 5--2, 4--2 and 4--1 - Avs of 5--2, 6--2, 5--1 and 6--3 TBD will be changes that before 2024 preseason play begins in September, beyond those made from round one of the 2024 postseason to 30 June Eastern Time, any of the Canucks, Alberta NHL teams, Jets, Ontario NHL teams and Habs will end up making to their rosters. Of those teams, just to recap, the Canucks, Oilers, Jets and Leafs qualified for playoff action while the Flames, Sens and Habs came nowhere close to doing so. TBD will be for the 2024--25 season which of those teams will qualify for playoff action and which ones don't. That's although the 2015--16 NHL season has so far in my lifetime been the only one to have featured no Canadian NHL team having qualified for playoff action.

5m is too much for Tanev. He's older now. 7 years? Leafs are crazy! Canucks can find better and younger replacements. As for Guentzel, that's too bad for the Canucks to lose out on him. Time for plan B.

Disclaimer: I’m a born/raised Torontonian, so I bleed nothing but blue. Tf???? Tanev is not a 5M AAV player. The Leafs would be crazy to spend that much on this 34yr old. The most I could see Tanev getting anywhere is maybe a 3.75M AAV for 6-7 years. 4.25M AAV for a shorter term. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Guenztel did Carolina very dirty. According to their local beat reporter Cory Lavalette, Guenztel and his camp asked Carolina for an 8x8 deal, which Tulsky and co agreed to do. Then, when Carolina confirmed they would indeed match what he wanted, Guenztel ghosted them until the draft, and then told them he wasn’t re-signing. Leaving them in the dust mere hours before FA opens. NASTY business by Guentzel and his agents. I’m not sure if what I just said is video worthy but it’s still extremely dirty business by Guentzel

So, all the big pieces are now off the market. This means Vancouver will probably look similar to last year, but maybe just a bit weaker without the few key players that had left. Oh well, at least there will be another 30 teams not going to the finals with them.
@LeonExile05
@LeonExile05 Күн бұрын
The players we acquired after the trade deadline didn’t do much until the playoffs and we played much better before that. I’m not sure losing Lindholm, Zadorov really makes too much of a diff tbh. As long as we can sign another forward or defensemen when free agency opens up I think we will be better off.
@tonyt5578
@tonyt5578 Күн бұрын
@LeonExile05 Yes, in a way, it's better not to rush or get into quick fixes and deals that may not even profit the team. As long as they continue to push and play to a decent level comparable (hopefully better) to last year. That will keep fans excited and not lose interest and backslide into the nightmares of yesteryears.

@@tonyt5578 I hope we get Toffoli, Bertuzzi and Dillon- or at the very least 2 out of 3. I’m okay with not retaining the UFA’s we let walk and even Guentzel. They were too expensive anyway. Our core is there, the coaching is there. The management don’t budge, we are in good hands. I don’t see us taking a step back. Maybe this year we don’t get that huge piece, but some good depth sure would help. I’ll take two or three above average players on shorter contracts over one big one on a long term contract that might bite us later.

Canucks are so mid it’s not funny They have 3 top 6 forwards 2 top 4 D Won first place in the weakest division of 2023-24 where 4 teams finished in the bottom 10…. Edmonton slow start Vegas limping all year LA trading away talent for PLD… Tocchet has a good system, but he doesn’t have the horses If they brought everyone back, they wouldn’t be good enough If Zadorov and Lindholm don’t return they lose 2 of the best playoff perforners they had. It’s not looking great. Overrated and overachievers
