The Issue with Joseph is he put up half those points in the first 20 games and then went cold the rest of the season, they need consistency and cap space.

You basically have it. It’s only a cap dump for one team. The future considerations can be seen as an eye for an eye. Since the Blues took on these players without salary retention, they can reach out to either Dallas or Ottawa at a later date and ask for a cap dump of their own plus a 4-5th round pick or something similar
