Portsmouth was one of the dance melodies in John Playford's The English Dancing Master. First edition was published in 1651; it ran to 18 editions up to 1728. Playford died in 1686. It's quite an old melody.

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard, Mike Oldfield is a genius and this adaption is a piece of art too, thank God for the true music.

If you take the trouble to research properly you will find that most of the time these girls were called out to dance as a"filler" for groups that for some reason or another couldnt appear live to perform. More ofter than not they only had a couple of hours at the most to come up with a routine for a song, rehearse, then perform it live on stage thats why occasionally they might make slight errors. All of those girls were in-fact trained dancers. Cowell and BGT are crap anyway

Both Pan's People and Legs & Co deserve MAXIMUM RESPECT in my opinion. They were treated like shit by the production company and were given very little notice as to what would be expected of them from week to week. Sometimes they had as little as 2 hours notice to come up with a routine for a live TV performance. Like I said, MAXIMUM RESPECT!

Weird costumes but they kinda work. The danciing is disjointed, however the overall effect is pretty good. Must admit I'm not a Legs & Co. fan.

The presenter here was talking shit. That wasn't Chalky the parrot. It was another parrot made up to look like him. Chalky wouldn't do commercial stuff like this - no way. Of course back in those days it wasn't considered unusual for an avian performer at Chalky's level to have a couple of body doubles to help him out at the weekends. One would do Chalky's charity appearances and the other would do the after dinner speeches and motivational speaking engagements - also signing the odd autograph or two. Chalky himself would typically spend his weekends down the Old Kent Road gambling on the unlicensed pigeon fighting circuit.

Either those panto-boots turned out to be harder to dance in than they'd reckoned on... ... or they were under rehearsed for some other reason. Shame. The routine was a Good Idea that didn't quite come off on the day.
