No, I don't put the diamond pieces in the freezer. The fresh leaves are more sturdy and using them for the points helps to keep their shape when the lei sits on the head.

My favorite part about kī (ti leaves) is that they last forever. The natural oils in the leaves preserve them and allow them to dry up while still remaining green and shiny. I hang up all my old kī lei in my room for spiritual protection.
