While fighting with myself for months "Buy It ..... Don't Buy it" before purchasing my first Leica and ended up with a Q2 three months ago. Now I have the Leica bug I am waiting for black M10R but my goal, I have to master manual focus on the Q2 to purchase my reward. Love your work and great listen on the Podcast last week. I started of doing landscapes and noise was a NO NO..... but since I started doing street Fuji cameras thought me to embrace noise and it has improved my photography. I was going to say No 7 But I am going with No 10 because M10R camera

Great point: above ISO>1600 the grain and noise becomes high. I would say not much improvement compared to the M240. It's a pity :/

49. I have not seen any M10-R profiles in C1P 21 beta, but i am sure it is coming. you can always use No Color Correction in ICC profile or make your own

I’ve got my import settings to do no color correction with a linear response and I still get the weird color blotches. I’m sure a fix will come soonish.

1987 - Hey, I wonder if what you’re seeing in Capture One is just the low res JPG that’s baked as a preview in the DNG files... About the video, interesting. Audio volume was all over the place, specially in the last part. Looking forward for your live shows.

Check out Sarah Oliphant’s work. She is a legendary backdrop painter. I got these drops custom made and they’re double sided. I’d highly recommend a single sided one. If you’ve ever seen a hand painted drop in an add (vanity fair, Anne Leibovitz) it was Sarah. 👌🏾 Ralph really made this video hard to make. After chatting with him the last thing I wanted to do was review a camera.

I think the question is does one need all that resolution? There is a megapixel marketing war going on, and I think one can still be happy with grainy 24MP shots as much as with grainy 12MP equivalent 35mm film photos taken on an analogue M. I bet Mr. Gibson would agree. The extra resolution doesn't make him a better photographer, but the M10R's DNGs sure make him a better consumer of digital storage space and devices.

Sure, I agree but it really depends on your workflow and what you’re doing with the files. Ralph Gibson makes very large prints and has put out over 50 books. I think for someone like him, more resolution is a welcome upgrade. For most of us that only post on Instagram, it’s probably not necessary.

LR have full support M10R not Capture one which seems to change color at high ISO to green

The "R" is a weird camera for me... because I don't care about resolution anymore, we're way past a resolution that matters to me. I care about sensor quality, ISO, film emulations, experience and what I can do with the camera. So initially I didn't think I'd care about it. But the sensor puts out great looking images! So now I'm reconsidering it...

Dope video man. I stopped shooting digital and my last digital camera was the x100f which I got used, but still ended up losing a few hundred dollars in the sell after I wanted to get rid of it. I think the point you made about the price of the Leica digital Ms not degrading in value like usual digital cameras is a big selling point on top of the M experience. Great points!

People will buy Leicas for the same reason they buy Ferraris, its a status thing. There is way more people doing awesome work with smartphones, old dslrs/mirrorless and even film than people with Leicas. These cameras are great, but way overpriced, the same way a contact g2 is overpriced nowadays. Also great work as always, independent of the camera hehe.

Statistically speaking, there are way less people with Leica’s and way more people with cell phones. So, yes you’re correct in a way. I’m willing to bet any photo you’ve ever liked by a legendary street photographer was taken on a Leica, especially the most iconic images that inspire us to shoot. At the end of the day the camera doesn’t matter. It’s wrong to assume anyone is better or worse based on the tool they chose to use. Thanks for watching brother!

And yeah at least one photo that I like from HCB for example comes from a leica, well and the film he was using, but there more that we all love there came from a smartphone or canon eos rebel. Just saying that this prices are ridiculous, specially in the world we live right now, so unequal and going through a pandemic, feels like wasted resources to play thousand of dólar on a sticker.

I’m sure they could move their factories to China and not use real leather, or not hand paint their logos and makings on the lenses (it’s not a sticker, it’s actually hand painted) but that would make them like every camera brand that already exists.

@@Stockezy Yeah using fake leather would be great for the animals and for the supply chain of people who works with animals, cause you know, those people suffer a lot too and they are usually marginalized people. And man those things does not make a difference in the image quality... They use a third party sensor that probably has the same price as other cameras, so yeah, I think it is overpriced for what it does, taking photos. Those little details that are hand painted are there for status and nothing else. Maybe if they did they own sensor and electronics etc they could be really different from other companies. Love your work man, but gosh how I hate capitalism...
