Good insight. Love my Q2 but still use my Sony A1 for serious work. Thanks for sharing!

Great take Matt. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos. I'm a X100V shooter and looking to grab the Q2 Mono as a second carry, because I only shoot 28 / 35 and all BNW.

That’s amazing! It’s such an amazing camera really feels like a well made machine.

I suppose digital Leica cameras are a conundrum. Luxury products have an allure that goes beyond any practical or technical justification for them. They can be status symbol; reward for achievement; dream fulfilment; a sensual and tactile experience etc etc. Purely on these terms they can justify themselves. There’s something I find very compelling about the Q2, and when I was comparing different Leica models, I managed to convince myself that it seemed good value for money! It’s a very pleasant experience to use the Q2 but of course the end results aren’t always as positive and many other cameras can outperform it. My Olympus MFT gear is better in most situations. I’d imagine that the X100 or Ricoh G3 are every bit as good at transforming light into a permanent image but technology is only a part of desirability.

Yea. I like the Q2. Planning to get one. Now using X100V, love it insanely, but just wanna try a Leica. I agree, X100V for sure more versatile and fun than the Q2, the little flash alone is can give you more than a Q2, if you know how to use a flash properly.

A wise old man once told me, "you own the car (or camera in this case), the car doesn't own you." I recommend buying what works for your needs and brings you the most enjoyment, then using it with a reasonable measure of care, but no fear. The odds you'll destroy the camera are low.

I can totally understand your point of view and why the Q2 might not be the right camera for your needs. But I don’t think I could go back to a X100 or a Ricoh G3. The shooting experience of the Leica is in a world of its own for compact cameras imo. The mechanical, heavy feel of the dials and rings, the simplicity of the camera, etc. I’m with you though, a native 35mm Q2 would be perfect.

Yeah going back-and-forth it’s really hard Leica is so good, I just have to detach from the quality and just go out and shoot ha ha

With all the reasons said about the Q2 is why i didn't switch the Q2 from the Q1 but is true sometimes you want that extra reach. The camera only gets heavy like anything, IF YOU Dont rest. besides that the camera is LIGHT!, Small and is good all around if you willing to crop or use your feet. Is also great for video (HD), and lowlight no issues.

thanks for the review. i recently bought the q, and am selling my beloved x100f. apart from always wanting a leica, one of the biggest reasons i love the q is the manual focus experience (with the option of really fast and accurate autofocus when i need it). i love everything about my x100f, but i hate manually focusing on it. you can hear the motor everytime you turn the ring. and it doesn't have hard stops. which is the problem with all focus-by-wire lenses, except this magical q lens, which is the best of all worlds. i have been considering a q2 upgrage mainly for the tighter crop, but the file size does scare me. i don't want to have to spend on a computer upgrade as well.

It’s such a fun camera I actually went back down to the Q1, I prefer the smaller file sizes makes shooting much more enjoyable. Yeah the X 100 just had too many little things that annoyed me, amazing pictures though,I hate the sound of the viewfinder in it as well that noise it makes when it comes on drives me crazy.

When you made a decision to go to X100V why did you not consider the Leica CL ?
@EDHBlvd3 жыл бұрын
Because the CL is inferior.

I was confused and struggling to choose between the X100v and Q2 before seeing this video so you can imagine how I now feel having watched it - I'm definitely none the wiser! 😂. Buying both isn't an option and would only serve to highlight my 'I haven't got a clue what I want' position. I have an XT-4 so am no stranger to Fuji quality, colours and experience and yet I'm struggling to pull the trigger on the X100v. And I don't think that by spending £5k on a Q2 do I naturally assume I'll become a better (hobbiest) photographer. There is just a draw to the Q2 and its image quality that I can't really explain. Head and bank account are screaming for the X100v but my heart and credit card (free money (for a while!)) are begging for the Q2. Why aren't I just managing my XT-4? - I am getting bogged down with lens choice etc. and it's taking away some of the fun and straightforwardness. In life I have always worked better with less so want to adopt that principle (again) to photography. Great video though 😊

I love them both, I actually am using the Q1 now. The 35mm focal length is so amazing but the Q just feels better to me. No wrong camera just the right one for you.
