There's a town on the French coast called Honfleur which was popular with the Impressionists. When I went there was an artist painting on the quayside who obviously made a deliberate attempt to look like Monet, including the same style of beard. (Or maybe it was just Monet's ghost . . . )

Hey Leila : - **Nice To Have You Back!**..... Interesting - as always - upload this month, even to a non-practising artist. I learn that : You can buy pallets that have "tear off" mixing surfaces, Sceptre Gold brushes (your favourite? - I love watching you use the tiny ones for very fine/delicate acrylic details) are actually made by Winsor + Newton..... I thought Sceptre Gold was the maker, and = Claude Monet liked cigarette ash in his paintings - 31:05 (!). Maybe that was his "U.S.P"? - using the "medium" for adding a grey granulation in his highly revered works. Who Knows..... Cheers Flower, and - all the best to you down there : - N.Z in a recession just like my "wonderful" (??) country is!. She'll Be Right, Nick.

I’m glad you liked the video. 😊 there are some artists actually like Jackson Pollock , who used their cigarette buds in the actual paintings. As far as Monet goes… I’m sure if you tested the paintings chemically you’d find some but it’s not obvious to the eye 🤷‍♀️ there are some of Monet’s works at the National Gallery in London.

I was kinda joking about the fag ash (Fag being Brit slang for a cigarette - you may know this?, yet, has caused confusion with Americans at times : - for homophobic slur reasons!), I just immediately noticed in the photo the guy was in dire need of an ashtray (!!). As an ex-smoker, I remember well accidently dropping a big "blob" of ash into important stuff **when cooking a meal at the stove for example = Yummy!!?** while having one hanging from my mouth. A disgusting habit - a drug addiction really? - and, Mrs. Ardern was right in my opinion in slowly but surely banning it in N.Z recently...... Just a shame that Mr. Luxon and his cronies did a U turn on it, they need the billions of dollars from tobacco tax - forget the nations health!. Bye Lelia.

@@LeilaAtaya ...... I know you're "safe" and very experienced with art tools Flower, but like this poster says = I too thought when I saw it : "thumb pretty close to what is pretty much a razor...." (!). You rarely get a second chance with a box-cutter!!.
