I am using exactly the same technique for forecast vs sale charts to display if forecast was accurate (thanks to two extra columns, first with values if forecast = +/- X% of sale - which means it's accurate, second column with values if first column contains error). I think that it is funny thing, that some time ago, after watching your other video ("This Excel Chart will grab your attention") I had a little fun and figured how to do this "trick" to conniditionally formate some values on chart, and now you are sharing exactly what i have figured form these video. :) Anyway, this video is much easier to adapt than previous for most people, so thanks for sharing it! It's much better to send link to video and let someone to learn something by himself (with possibility to watch video again everytime he needs it), than explaining how to do it every time he needs to highlight somehting on his new chart.

Hi Leila.. love this video and technique of adding additional data series and using NA() to isolate just the min/max to get the desired effect. Also, your chart enhancements are so creative and for those of us with no right brain skills, the lessons are invaluable for getting more impact out of the the results than just the standard defaults. Judging from the number of thumbs up on this video already.. more than 600 in less than 24 hours since you posted.. you have a lot of fans.. myself included. Keep them coming. Thanks and thumbs up!!

Thank you Wayne. I've always been a fan of dynamic charts specially for reports that need to be produced on a consistent basis - it saves so much time and potential mistakes. Thank you for the thumbs up, comment and following the tutorials here on the channel. I really appreciate it!

Leila, I love your videos. You are super fantastic! For this wonderful chart, I would just add something else. In case you have more than one max or min values, you should get rid of a line that appears. So, you should select the series max, under Color select Line instead of Marker, then select No line. Do the same for series min. Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge with us. Greetings from Brazil!

Hi Leina ... smart and easy way out to create this nice chart!!! I`m looking your videos for long time and they are really handy and help me a lot. Thanks for sharing these amazing tricks. In retribution I`d like to share one smart trick that I don`t often see you using, and see you struggling to align charts properly. If you hold ALT key while dragging the handles of a chart you will snap them to the cells. It makes much easier to adjust it`s dimensions, specially if you have 2 charts to be fully aligned. You can make them same size just snapping to the cells grid.

Your graph videos are phenomenal. I had seen the NA() usage before, but completely forgot about it. One thing did surprise me though: your use of groupings in Excel. You strike me as someone who is - like me - a little obssessed about screen "real estate". I hate the amount of space that grouping takes up, it's just really inefficient. I tend to either use one of the location pin in excel's Icons or the "Rectangle with top corners rounded" shape as a tab, attaching a macro to quickly hide or unhide the desired columns (in your case Range("C:D").EntireColumn.Hidden = Not Range("C:D").EntireColumn.Hidden). Obviously that wasn't the purpose of your video, but I just thought I'd mention it. I'd love it if Excel made it's groupings more in line with small + symbols they provide on pivot tables which are far cleaner. Anyway, rant over! Thanks for another great video.
@LeilaGharani5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rico - Yes, attaching a macro to hide and unhide is a good idea. The grouping does take up too much space - Just hiding without any indication can also be misleading if you're sharing files with others. The macro is a good idea, specially with the button so people know there is something hidden. Thank you for your comment.
@ricos14975 жыл бұрын
@@LeilaGharani Yes, I agree, sharing files without indication would be an issue, and also having a macro enabled file might also cause an issue that just grouping wouldn't. I'd love it if microsoft re-visited the grouping labels and made them a bit neater. They seem to have made everything else on the interface that bit nicer these days, but perhaps forgotten about the lonely grouping function!
