And just as I'm about to do a crash course for my team. Couldn't have asked for better timing! I also couldn't have asked for better tutolage, after some years away from Excel - both for dusting-off the old skillset, as well as getting up to speed on recently added features. After spending more time than I'd like to admit browsing aimlessly with no insight in sight, your videos on Dynamic Arrays are what finally brought the topic into focus for me. Thank you, Leila, and keep up the exceptional work!

I love this! We often have to collaborate and work together in a workbook during a workshop meeting and only one person gets to type and the rest of us just watch... THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER! Thanks Leila 😊

Oh, yes, this would be wonderful! We have a variety of different Excel knowledge levels, and this would be absolutely amazing for small-scale training. We also have folks with vision issues, and the ability to zoom in for those folks would be a Godsend for them.

Oh wow! The times I’ve done Excel training and could have used this!!! I am very excited to see this roll out to everyone. Thanks as always, Leila, for giving us the how-to in a super easy way and including the requirements and limitations - I hate discovering those on my own (usually when showing someone a new feature and then something goes wrong)!
@evinharrelson2 жыл бұрын
Good point about training. This does seem like a GREAT way to train people especially for those in remote positions. That’s probably why they’ve come out with feature specifically due to the working remotely demand now. I know that was a huge factor when I changed positions 2 months ago from a 14 year job, is if they offered remote work. So the demand is there and the big companies are giving us what we need. I think it’s a great feature!

II was very excited when I saw the title of your video. I use Teams and Excel most of the time. Unfortunately I don't think it will help me much because I want them to do it themselves. There are four features from Zoom that 'dI love to have on TEAMS when helping people remotely:: A) the ability to draw on someone else's screen (I use Zoom It, but only works on my computer) B) being able to use TAB and Ctrl + or Ctrl - on someone else' s computer (it would be great to disable Teams shortcuts) C) the way I see a black box when something is not shared is in the way. I try to use the field list and they tell me I'm clicking on something else. D) the ability of both people to use the mouse at the same time. People tell me they can't point something for me and I have to release control and request it again. I hope there are ways to do these things already that I don't know about.

I've been using Excel in Teams for close to two years now. It is a frustrating experience, despite how it is being hyped. Many of Excel's capabilities are handicapped, and we have lost work several times. Sure it is fine for someone to share during a Teams meeting and even allow a few people to make simple updates --but if you have serious work to do you must open it in a desktop app. Even that has it's issues as sometimes you save back your work and your updates disappear. When it works, it is handy. When it does not work, you lose work.

The "new" sheet function is very useful, especially for filtering. I used to support a team of 6 category managers, and we had to work on the file one at a time because of filtering.
@j.ballsdeep4202 жыл бұрын
Hoof, sounds like no one on your team of "managers" was aware of PowerQuery to merge 6 different modifications assuming no one added new columns to a table or anything _stupid_ like that, though if they were -managers- unable or illeducated in advanced functions like PowerQuery I would suspect they'd be the same type to ignorantly start manipulating a table if y'all even worked on a table rather than worksheet levels. Sigh.
@j.ballsdeep4202 жыл бұрын
Would have been *_extremely_* simple to have a network drive location as your data source they'd drop their file into and a master file would dynamically add all their data from each file, smh. Still blows my mind how rudimentary much of even fortune 100 companies can be in their analytical skillets.

Thank you! This was my immediate thought process but I assume the intent is more of a collaboration like I'm asking you how I can take the data I have on one worksheet and let's say create a pivot for (x) reporting and I don't know how to do so seeing as Teams allowing a participant controls to your computer results in a verrrry notable latency and thus an extreme attention to detail and patience such as writing a formula on someone elses' side as the remote connection side is needed where you'd write one condition, wait for it to fully write on the person you're connected to, add your seperator, wait to confirm it is in the formula, then write your next condition. Been there and done that --it's _terrible_ but $5 says so is this seeing as collaboration on 365 still causes kernel panics with your most basic functions in a formula. Shit, I've caused it to crash and recover from 15 to 20 minutes prior which is useless just by using an & and not even concat. Might be the absolute best but Microsoft still shits the bed, CONSTANTLY

Hi Leila...I like your videos on excel and other office products. Do you have a video on how to generate a crosstab report based on excel data? Where one of the columns with multiple values turn into multiple columns, one for each value.
@5_Stripe_Gunner2 жыл бұрын
Look up text-to-columns
@j.ballsdeep4202 жыл бұрын
For one dabble with PowerPivot, but trying to understand your short description you'd need to do a transformation and create new columns based on unique values or non-repeating values, unless you're simply talking about merging all worksheets (tabs) to then take one single column out of each and merge to a new table where you transpose the column in each to become a header row, all again done in PowerQuery but your source would be tables/worksheets under GetData rather than PowerPivot. Either way your question is extremely expansive to answer with one single catch all you're looking for but best of luck searching said functions that exist or leveraging your resources that know how to do so rather than you hunting and pecking as I promise it won't be a small endeavor if you're not familiar with M and PowerQuery

Here's a secret: A Teams embedded file is actually a OneDrive/SharePoint file once it's on Teams like if I send you a file or anything. This was a part of their integration bringing everything together and how it works in the backend. Go to any file you have in a channel or chat, click the 3 dots and you'll see an option to view in SharePoint 😘

We should merge it, but I'm afraid that several people working at the same time on views offered by Teams - they may lose some data, something will not save and we will not even know what and when.... We use filters a lot and Teams always is asking if it should change the view other users, or create the private view. We are afraid of it... Could you tell more about saving changes/data, when sharing views, please?

Great question, though, cause if you're sharing something from a local copy, the permissions Teams is given would be very interesting cause I'd be really annoyed if it overwrites even local, but then if it creates a SharePoint/365 version on your cloud drive then people need to be aware to clear a shit ton of unnecessary files utilizing their cloud storage. Great question
