That hit home, the overthinking tends to come when you have too much free time and create problems that don't actually exist. I can see how that leads into bad habits like getting into debt from over spending, chores not getting done and the mess piles getting bigger, or amplified fear on skills you're trying to develop in getting ready for it. Great video.

Honestly, I clicked on this thinking, "okay, let's see," totally expecting for it to say a lot without saying anything at all -- like most of these videos do. But, this cannot not be further than that. Great video. Excellent actionable steps and explanation.

Thank you 0:13 pros and cons of overthinking 0:39 an unmanaged mind will constantly overthink 0:53 overwhelm is caused by high demand and lack of clarity 1:15 to decrease overwhelm, identify what are the ‘must, shoulds, have to’s’ that you are imposing on yourself that are creating a high demand and sense of urgency Does it serve you or serve against you? 2:16 the language that we use can unnecessarily assign meaning to something that happened. It happened; it’s neither good or bad, but Identifying (for example) as ‘devastated’ or ‘heartbroken’ assigns a negative meaning/connotation to it which triggers that emotional response and increases the overwhelming feeling. Change your language and you can deescalate your emotions just by how you talk about them. 3:03 lack of clarity 4:00 do it wrong & imperfectly 4:40 productive distraction vs thinking through the overthinking Be on your purpose, be present, 5:35 of you have too much time on your hands, you create problems that don’t exist (idol mind is the devils playground) Take action, be productive 5:40 instead of identifying as an overthinker

Dear Leila, you just made me realise something huge. There's a hill or small mountain to climb-that is the action that will help you progress, but you resist it, because its not comfortable. Its very uncomfortable to do, stressful. the more you climb the more you get stressed... until you reach the top and it gets better !! on your side of the hill it it sucks, not much food, on the other side, full of great food, but only potentially ! all you have to do is climb that hill of stress that you resist. because on the long run, avoiding it will be more painful !

Your clarity is so refreshing. It's like a cool breeze in a stagnant room. I like that confidence. Confidence is liberating. Money is even more liberating but I will settle for some confidence for now. lol You have to have confidence to make and hold on to money anyway so it's a good start.

Doing a lot of this inner work myself, this is what I needed right now. A reminder of the truth of language choice and it’s effects on our identities. I struggle with self loathing a lot and never feel like what I do is good enough because I haven’t yet “shown up” in the world and my community the way I would ultimately wish to. However I realize that my vision will take years maybe a decade or two to truly manifest itself in reality and need to give myself grace because there is much I do not understand yet

This is golden. I just got into tech sales and cold calling sucks. I'll overthink myself into doing it 15 minutes later which turns into 30 minutes. It's horrible. I'm not new to sales. Prior realtor however those closed deals were referrals or people I know. Cold calling is new to me. 😢

Overthinking is per definition thinking past the point when it's useful. Very in depth thinking is analytical thinking which is useful. If you find yourself overthinking a lot you are probably the type, meaning your default mode network is wired that way. You can change that with meditation, because it literally takes you out of the thinking mind and into observer mode. Slowly, you can change the baseline for the DMN (default mode network). Usually people overthink because they really depend on an outcome, maybe because they are broke, or they attach their self wort to the outcome or something else. It's usually never as easy as "just stop".

I agree it's sort of a psychological attachment that hurts our insecurities or self worth like you said. When we overthink to essentially burn out and not do anything. It's a "must" we should stop this mentality and just break down our thoughts to actions

The mind is always finding solutions trying to achieve, to reach the climax or the destination so that it can stop its own actions. But unfortunately the unprepared mind cannot handle itself to bring the thoughts to conclusion. That thought that can bring all the other thoughts to conclusion is a treasure for a human to find out.
