It wouldn't surprise me if there was a deleted scene that said what it was or if it was explained better in the script, but you see that piece of parchment Smee keeps unfurling every time Hook wants to see one of the Banning's private records? I'm pretty sure it's a magic scroll that shows whatever personal record Hook wants to see. Sure it's dumb and lazily convenient, but it is KIND of cool. And I of course love the fact that Smee uses it. Smee does everything awesome =D

I'd assume Tinkerbell took him back to visit so he could age to the right age where he'd be able to look after himself. Really when magic's involved logic rarely comes into it.

It annoys me when people get the concept of "plot holes" wrong. A plot hole isn't something you think is dumb. A plot hole is when a movie sets something up, and then violates it's own rules. For example, if a film states that there is only one McGuffin in existence, and there is no way any more can be made because the way to make them is used up, the film can't have the hero just go make another one when the last one breaks. That is a plot hole. "Why doesn't hook burn down the Lost Boy's new house" isn't a plot hole. That's easily explained by "he didn't want to". Done.

No, not at all. You are just choosing to take literally what was never meant to be taken literally. Writing nonsense is one of the core tenets of British children's literature. Roald Dahl wrote a book about a headmistress who grabbed unruly children by the hair, spun them around like an Olympic hammer and threw them over the schoolyard fence. Lewis Carrol wrote a book about a little girl who follows a rabbit down a hole and falls for minutes before landing and being perfectly fine. J.K. Rowling wrote a book about wizards who play a game where they fly around on broomsticks chasing an imperceptibly small ball that moves lighting fast. The games supposedly went on for weeks, and the majority of the team plays for tiny goals while one player searches for the impossible to find ball which yields so many points that it renders the rest of the game pointless. Peter choosing to run away as a baby isn't a plot hole, it's a literary commentary on the way parents have their child's whole life planned out before they even have a chance to live it, and don't really care what the child wants for themselves. A baby choosing to run away when it logically can't understand what the adults or saying or move themselves at all is a bit of a literary nonsense that's supposed to be clever. I thought it was. Whether you do or not is entirely up to you. But it is NOT a plot hole.

JazGalaxy -applauds- I believe in fairy-errrr... I mean I believe in your theories XD just because something is illogical does not mean it breaks its own rules or suddenly becomes a convenient plot device meant to make up for bad writing regardless of the previously established rules of its own world. Meaning, if Superman get stronger by the power of the sun... then he suddenly shouldn't get sun burnt and sun poisoned and get sick as a convenient way for the enemy to take him down because your poor writing never took a logical method into account so you simply changed the rules or ignored the previously established ones. Now having him age from a baby into a toddler and then into a teenager when the rules of Neverland clearly state that you will not age- that might be a plot hole. But the others were not, they were just hard to believe or like in the case of Hook not burning down the tree-house.... like you said, he simply didn't want to. What would be the point in it if Peter Pan was his obsession and Pan was suddenly gone? He even says in the film during his depression and mock suicide scene that 'I'm tired of killing Indians and Lost Boys' so he clearly wasn't motivated to go all out with his war unless Peter was a part of it. And just because we can think 'well, why doesn't he burn the tree house down.... I would have' doesn't make it a plot hole, it makes it a personal opinion that we try to push onto the character. So yeah, besides him aging in Neverland I thought the movie was pretty free of plot holes. Sure, moments were hard to believe at times and could have been taken out of context, but nothing that would have altered the story or turned into a point of convenience that broke their own rules.

I've read a lot of critics didn't like the fact that Spielberg didn't reboot the original story of Peter Pan and thought it would be too confusing for audiences who never saw the original or read the story. (I personally never had a problem with it, I didn't know that much about Peter Pan but if anything it made me want to learn more about Peter Pan and his original adventures) Another problem critics had was the set of Neverland since it I guess a lot of critics thought it looked disappointing, and the most common problem I've seen critics complain about was the fight choreography (I kinda agree with the choreography criticism) Despite these flaws i still loved this film, it's not perfect but it's an amazing film I still hold deeply to my heart. Hopefully this helps:)

The real problem with the film are the sets, they're a bit too ... over the top. With the fight of the lost boys with the pirates they kind of lost me. But the story, charachters and soundtrack is just too good, this movie is still one of my favourites.

From what I've read, Julia Roberts was actually kind of a bitch on set. Mostly due to the fact that she had just broken off an engagement to Kiefer Sutherland. Either way, I love this movie, but it's hard to believe that two of its stars are gone. R.I.P. Robin Williams and Bob Hoskins :'(
