I can from very fresh experience tell you that breaking Lithuanians as Teutons post-imperial is quite some task now. Melee Armor on Halbs doesn't do shit, so huge numbers are needed. Indirect buff for Goths, though, since they don't have the final armor upgrade anyway.

I feel like the Leitis was buffed as a check and balance to the Teuton's armour related buffs (faster TKs and +2 armour on barracks and stables units. 50 gold per unit sounds amazing but if people find it makes the Leitis too cost efficient in most match ups then maybe it'll get changed to 60 gold per unit. Split the difference between the old and new cost?

Considering that Teutons were one of the worst civs, they pretty much are held in check by everyone. Especially archers civs which are traditionally pretty good anyway.

The Leitis' reduced gold cost, relatively cheap Elite upgrade cost, and faster creation time makes it easier to tech switch into as well, which I think will be an underappreciated part of the buff. For example Lithuanians could spend all of Castle Age with Cavalry Archers, then do a hard switch into Elite Leitis in the Imperial Age to close out the game, among other combinations.

How much gold does a relic produce? It's 1 gold every 2 seconds which is about as good as a Dark Age gold miner. ... that is not enough to back anything at all Granted, you make take the relic anyway to deny your opponent it, and if you are going monks anyway, free lunch is free lunch. but free lunch isn't going to compete with a basement full of food in the medium term.

The Relic Attack Bonus for this civ is super good, and honestly, worth counter playing if you are facing them. Early game, where you have less of an economy, the free villager worth of gold is more likely to be impactful. ... how much would you say a relic in worth in wood/food for gold villagers. If it's like 5, than going from 60 to 65 is not going to change your economics of fighting. If it is 20, than going from 60 to 80 is a meaningful growth.

Also having what is essentially a free villager on gold is the equivilent of giving yourself extra pop that doesn't take up pop space. They can make huge differences. They don't do much mid castle no, but the free gold it's giving you will add up and push back how long it will be to get to trash fighting. When your enemy hits 0 gold and has to resort to Hussars and you have a few hundred gold left for siege, for knights, for leitis it makes a huge difference.

Basically they have +2 meele armor compared to a fully upgraded hussar but - 2 meele attack, which means the same against most units (except units with low meele attack or high meele armor). The scout has 45 hitpoints (+20 with bloodlines) while a hussar has 75 (+20 with bloodlines in most cases), and the teuton scout lacks husbandry so slower than like every civ's hussar. Since in trash wars the meele armor is mostly used against light cav and champions (the onager- and pikeman-lines has so high meele damage against scouts I don't think these two extra armors matter), the teutonic scout is still a much worse light cav than a generic hussar with the same blacksmith upgrades. But an in-depth comparison would be nice.

@@balintmecs6567 Honestly I'm not sure if that change really did anything. Even with the +2 armor halbs still take them out in 2 hits as opposed to 3 for Hussars. Sure, they're stronger against non-spear melee units now but with the Scout's tickle-level attack strength I'd wager that you're better off putting that food elsewhere, even if its just being sold at the market to get the gold for a Paladin/Champion/Teutonic Knight as they'll have better staying power in the long run compared to a scout or two in post-imp.

I personally think they were a tad too generous with the buffs. My gut tells me though that, since ranged units are pretty dominant currently due to DE pathing, it may seem like the initial Leitis may have been an underwhelming unit, but the ability to completely ignore a particular resistance is really strong against certain civs. The only thing that held it back was its cost, in my opinion, similar to the Cataphract. Now that the gold cost has been reduced significantly (way more than I imagined, honestly, what with the reduced recruitment time), I think it will now truly shine with its melee armour negation. Judging on the history of the Leitis in DE, it feels like they're currently trying to strike a bit of an awkward balance between a trash unit and a Paladin. Anyway, my ramblings aside, I hope it will get a time to shine now. I wouldn't be surprised if the gold cost would go back up a bit from 50>60 though.

I don't agree with the armor ignoring bonus. Even for it being restricted to castle production only, 14 attack for elite is just too strong with the armor ignore. Just my opinion. I would make them have 3 less attack at their base unit and 4 less attack at their elite stage in exchange for letting them have their armor ignore bonus.

Hey SOTL, it sounds weird but i was thinking about the elephant archer. In AoE I their function was be a tank-expensive-high ranked archer, specially against units with high armor, because a war elephant does more damage (except versus a unit with high armor). The point is that elephant archers in AoE I works because they don 't have a mortal conter; even, with micro, some EAs can defeat a group of camels. I think that specially the pikes destroys the element of a tanky archer, because it have no sense that an intense use of a lot of cheaper units can defeat them too easily. My conclussion is that they need a bonus at least against pikemens (the camels are expensive and don't means the biggest problem, another conters too and the skirmishers are a razonable conter unit because they don't massacre the elephants too easy), maybe a bonus attack versus them, maybe receiving less of the pikemen bonus against chivalry, or even more rank. The reason i think about this it is because this unit is rarely used and need to be rethinked. I know that this is a video focused in completely another think, but i remembered that you usually read more this coments and i have to tell someone this. Thanks for the videos:)

Leitis are an excellent late game option. Going fast castle with knight mass first then after putting about 2 or 3 castles you just stream the Leitis hordes down your opponent's throat

So the unit has no counter pretty much? even with no relics? agree with the cost reduction but, like the keshik's cost reduction, it's gotta come with some changes to its stats. Maybe leitis should occupy the other end of the cav spectrum compared to the keshik and have high attack but low hp? Not too sold on just one less pierce armour and 30 less HP compared to the Paladin...

Having just finished a match as the Lithuanians, another slight advantage to the Lithuanians is that because they push you to the monastery, you will probably have 2-3 monks available to heal up the leitis and essentially keep them trading indefinitely.

If it really has the potential to be a viable trash unit then it's probably OP. That's really not how this is supposed to work. Even units that actually become trash units when they're really stronger than that have limitations, like the Persians crossbows without bracer and the two handed swordsmen that can't upgrade to champions, and even those arguably make their respective Civs overpowered in super late game trash wars.

It's still melee and something in the engine of DE(pathing) makes every melee unit perform significantly worse than on HD. The Leitis only became slightly useful for the first time in its life.

As long as there are Mangudai in this game, you can't even argue this point. The drawback is you need castles to mass, like Mangudai, so Lithuanians player can be stifled before they get the chance.

I think Lietis is closer to what it should be now than it was before. Now Leitis is essentially the go-to unit but you need to judge whether you can get the castles to sustain Leitis. Before, Paladin was just such a safer option since it was better in most situations anyway. I think they over-buffed Lietis though but of course they'll be watching its performance. Since they're patching so often its ok to not get it right the first time, unlike some games that make something OP & take years to fix it.
