Looking right to left makes it easier to spot them. It makes your eyes work harder because with the English language, you’ve adapted to reading left to right which requires your eyes to do less work. I learned this from a Flyfisherman in NC. Kind of reminds me of you.

Leland blue is exclusive to Michigan as a byproduct waste of iron ore smelting along the lakes, some old brick furnaces still stand today, there is also a slag called pioneer blue that can be found in the upper peninsula of Michigan too

That is the cleanest beach I have ever seen. Theri isn't any broken dishes, bottles, stoppers, toys, plastics, bricks, cuncks of concrete, metals, screws, nails, wires, pipes, plastics, or other items. That has to be a fun place to hunt. Just be careful and don't get a sunburn.
@kimberlyaustin66773 жыл бұрын
That's because they are very serious about keeping the beaches clean in Michigan. Get caught leaving any trash behind you will pay a heafty fine. However, when I was a child, the beaches were littered with crap and one if us would usually cut a foot on glass or aluminum pop tops and cigarette butts were everywhere.

That rock at 9:35 with the red band through it might be a BIF - a banded iron formation. That's one of the sources of all the iron mined there. Michigan Rocks has a video of an entire mountain made of the stuff. So cool! Nice to meet your beautiful mom!

I am on Huron right now! Fort Gratiot has lots of rocks. The famous Gowganda Tillite, that is two billion years old are there! The coral is called Favorisites, and Charlevoix stones. The first green, was Epidote. Some of the purple is fluorescent bubble gum pink! Best tool is a stick with a fryer basket attached to scoop from the surf! Saw a lady finding sharks teeth in the waves at Calvert Cliffs on the Potomac. Found a nice Mako tooth on the James River, with the MAGMA Club fossil hunt at Pipsico. Heading up to Alpena and going to Drummond Island, best place for Pudding Stones! Then the UP and Keweenaw for Copper! Of course, always looking after dark for FS! Have fun with Mom!

So cool that your "Wild Mom" is hunting with you. Such pretty slag. I find blue slag on the St. Joseph River near where I live. Left over from iron smelting in the 1800s. It is not worn down by the water as much, but very pretty! I nicknamed it South Bend Slag! 😆
