Loved Miller's Dairy! Mrs Hanning was always so nice, I even was in orchestra with her son Andy.

Nice !! As a Lemon Grove native myself I worked that Drive-through from Age 15-1/2 ( when I got my work permit From Mount Miguel ) up until I was 19 years old in 1979 a year after Graduating H.S. & finishing up a year of R.O.P. Diesel mechanics training out at Santana High in Santee . I enjoyed Working for Ed & Pete Miller , and doing drive through Duty with George ( the head honcho 😉) Lloyd Masing, Darryl Mylrae , Mark Chamberlain , and a few others whom I can no longer remember their names. I even helped old Bruce Corey Deliver milk in the wee hours of the mornings in my later years there , delivering all over the Fletcher hills & Del Cerro areas . That old Divco Truck of his slowly managing all the hills and Him occasionally taking a nip of his Bourbon or Whiskey on freezing cold winter mornings to stay warm behind the wheel while I , as a young teen , did the running back and forth from truck to house to grab the milk baskets and notes of what each household needed that morning. I stayed plenty warm from all that back & forth activity. I learned a valuable lesson wherein Hard Work & effort & Diligence PAID OFF, If you were so inclined to do it , a trait that has stuck with me my entire lifetime so far . I grew up only a few blocks away from The old Dairy , and it was indeed a sad Day when they closed it & dozed it down flat & put cookie cutter style houses up on what was to become “ Miller Ranch “. I am a “ Miller “ also , but not related to The Miller Brothers who owned & operated it. I truly like to think they originally liked my last name enough to give me a try at working for them , and to this day I am grateful they took a chance with a skinny ,tall , blonde Surfer -looking kid to see how he would do. 😎😉. Thanks for a trip down memory lane , and if you came through that drive through between mid 1975 and late 1979 , then I probably took your order & brought you out your Milk😏. Thanks….. C-ya😊

That brought back good memories. My Dad loved the drive through. I was 5 when we moved to Lemon Grove and my favorite places were the Lemon Grove movie house {25 cents, spent all day there and the price included pop corn} I raced my quarter midget race car at the Catholic church track a few years later.

During the 60's Millers' delivery guy was usually the only person I'd see on my a.m. ppr route in Lomita Village

I remember building forts in the haystacks and watching my friends ride the cows.
