I watched Lena on TV in 1974 as an 8 year old and fell in love with her.. My first 45 record was Ma He's Making Eye's at Me... I remember it broke in pieces one day as I tried to remove it from the turn table. I was devastated and buried the remains at the bottom of the garden. I always wonder if it would still be there to this day. I visited Lena's Grave a few years ago and I just wanted to lay down there with her forever... I regret not being there for Lena in the mid 90's when I only lived 20 miles away and lived alone in a tiny flat in Hoddesdon... Lena would be 60 now as I write this.. RIP Lena, we didn't meet in this life but I want to meet you in the next coming.... XXXxxxxXXX

I remember watching her on television in my childhood. Her voice was incredible, but she looked and behaved like someone much older. I think fame robbed her of her childhood. She came across as a very sweet girl. She has a beautiful memorial. Bless her, taken far too young, tragic. My youngest son had a life saving kidney operation in the Cardiff hospital she was treated in. So it hits home really hard. Another beautiful tribute Paul, bless you. ❤ xx

One of My husbands old work friends in hoddesdon was one of Lena’s friends, and he said she had lost so so much weight and was such a lovely lady and he went to her funeral . Such a beautiful woman and talent taken from us . RIP Lena ❤ that churchyard is beautiful as my auntie and uncle are there … it’s beautiful walking through and hearing all the chimes and seeing the graves with decorations on, and all the Xmas trees decorated on graves at Xmas . How weird, I’ve been thinking about Lena a lot just recently for some reason and watching some of her old tv shows. She was just a couple of years older than me, and I was really jealous of her when I was a little girl- if only I’d known! She was a really sweet person, and not a brat like you’d expect child stars to be. Poor girl, how tragic her life turned out to be.❤️

Such a sad ending to a tremendously talented young woman. She was persuaded to sing at her own wedding, but the song she chose was "Help Me Make It Through The Night" I can't help but wonder if that was a subtle cry for help. You're not wrong about child stars struggling to cope with the fame and pressure. So many child stars have had serious issues and died comparatively young due to the pressures early fame brought upon them (Judy Garland, Brad Renfro, Sabu, Bobby Driscoll etc ) and the fact that it ultimately made them unhappy. Unfortunately Lena also suffered from the same self-destructive behaviour and it does make you wonder that had she not have become famous (especially at such a young age) then maybe she'd still be with us.

I remember Lena from the 70s & my thoughts at the time were wow who is this. As you said Paul kids who are in the entertainment industry need to be protected from the huge pressure that fame brings & unfortunately for some if it ends because the industry just dumps them & then their is no one apart from family to help but by then some are to far gone with fatigue or are dependent on drugs or illnesses brought on by depression which is a shame. Lena was taken way before her time & now she is at peace RIP Lena 🙏
