I think Fear and Loathing is why 99% of people search for this song. The world needs another Hunter S. Thompson desperately to get us through these dark days. That just makes his work that more precious, in retrospect. Too Weird to live, to rare to die.

The song was from the 1959 play (and later movie) "Sound of Music" and became a hit in the late 60's when the movie was released. The lennon Sisters have been around for awhile but they got big also in the late 60's early 70's.

It's a perfect winter song, after all, My Favourite Things was originally a Christmas song. It's warm and nice inside, in lyrics, but outside - a bit harsh, somewhat scary or unsettling. It encompasses that certain feeling when you are in your warm home, and though windows you can see winter night engulfed in blizzard.

We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark-that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.”
