Lenovo All-In-One C540 SSD Upgrade - How to : Basic | LapFix

Apparently, there is more than one type of C540. The back cover did just easily slide off. There a dozen invisible plastic tabs that were holding it in place. It's a miracle that some of them didn't break as I forced the cover off. Then the hard drive is locked in place as though it was permanently super-glued to the computer. There are no visible power cables to remove, but I think there are at least two star screws holding the drive in place. And of course they are not easily accessible. The blue plastic frame is blocking direct access to them. I'll probably have to cut away part of the plastic to unscrew them. I'm beginning to think this computer may end up in the dumpster.

So after you swapped in the SSD, did you have to partition the drive or does the motherboard already recognize it?

I have a levono C540 and I would like to upgrade from the original that came inside of it. I am not a computer guy but i will be doing this myself. Only thing that is scary to me is going in to figure out the exact parts that i need. I would at least like to add more memory because when i try to update to windows 11 it tells me that I don’t have enough space so it can’t. I am gonna try to look through your videos on how to do each one separately. I kinda want to the the cheapest of the 2 first. I will subscribe as soon as i send this message. Will this be the same for a Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 510S-23ISU? Looks the same design, so I assume it will be fitted in a similar way

@@lapfix hello . Your video is great. I have a question. How do you remove the cover to clean the fan on the 510-23ish? It's under part of the top casing. but the casing gets stuck around the CD drive and does not just pull up. Do I have to remove the CD drive first? How?

@slick brick Hi sir you need to download the manual first of your computer model for more references, if your computer like this model 1st make it sure to unplug power cables etc. cables that are connected outside your computer 2nd make sure to cooldown your computer atleast 5mins after using 3rd remove the lower back cover like in this video 4th Remove the HDD & connected Sata cable. 5th Remove the Ram. 6th Remove the DVD/DVDR by pulling down the metal lever to release & pull the side of DVD out. 7th Remove the Metal Stand 8th Remove All Screws in all sides of the plastic back cover. 9th

i have the exact same computer same way of removing the back and same hardrive but my hard drive was in the opposite way ? so the cables weren’t out like that.

The blue piece is the bracket that holds the 3.5" hard drive in place so it doesn't slide out. If you are planning on installing the ssd, you would need a 2.5" to 3.5" hard drive adapter bracket. This would then install into the blue bracket in the machine. Without the blue bracket, your hard drive would be loose and could damage the machine and your hard drive

Could you please inform what ram type can be used. I had issues with 1.5V Patriot 2x8 1600 - PC turns off after 2 seconds after I turn it on with 2x Ram installed. By 1 piece every so-dimm module worked fine. I wonder whether 1.35 V Ram can be used only there. Thanks you!

My All-in-one is C340, the SATA port is static, not as a cable. Can I somehow put pair of disks, one SSD and one HDD, both 2.5 inc. Thank you!

No need to replace the SATA cable. You can use the same cable.

Can you add a second hard drive on this machine? I know it has two SATA ports but on for Storaga and one for CD Drive, any way to add a second hard drive without taking the CD Drive SATA?

You are correct, it does have two SATA ports which are the same connection. However, to add the second hard drive, you must take out the CD drive and be able to secure it. There is no space to have the CD drive and two hard drives.

you don't need to remove the stand to be able to remove the hard drive
