you didn't install a fresh x64 windows OS on the machine it still an x86 OS so using only about 4gb of you're newly installed 16 Gb 2- its recommended to use fresh thermal paste 3- its no necessary to remove the whole CPU bracket to install a new CPU

Hi Ben, I think there is something you can do to upgrade it once more. 1. buy a VGA card, even 2Gb one is ok, with that you can free some of your precious memory (in 32bit mode, you can only use 4Gb max, yours only can use 3.46gb because .5gb already used for VGA). 2. change it to win10 64bit. you will get 16Gb memory available. I had an athlon x3 machine, with 16Gb memory in 64bit mode, it is still run very well. aniway, i enjoy your post. have a greatday.

Do you happen to know if it can take any cpu heatsink? I found one that i'm trying to restore and the previous owner tightened up the heatsink screws till the plastic backplate piece on the back of the board broke into pieces and there's nothing left to screw the heatsink in anymore. Do i really need the original Lenovo one or i can just buy a cheap aftermarket cooler for it? Stock Intel heatsink with clips will not stay on because the holes in the motherboard a a little bit bigger than the cooler's retention clips can hold

Sweet. I am thinking of getting a used server and upgrade its Xeon E5 CPU in the same manner. I reckon as long as the M/B socket is identical it should work, in theory at least.

Bro why you installed 16 gb ram while you are using 32 bit windows, the memory is useless, you are using 4 gb only And why you are using 32 bit system on 64 bit hardware And please use new thermap paste

I used PAE enabled on the 32-bit Windows, that is why before I upgraded to 64-bit. As for thermo paste, I can assure you 100% that it was better than the new.

Yes Win 32bit can handle RAM DD3 of more than 16 GB but you have ti change ti Win 64 bit because it is the future and many programs now do not support old win 32 bit

AGP video card? You realize the system is from around 2014 right? That’s a PCI-E video card. Also Watching you unnecessarily clean that socket with a toothbrush while taking the cpu out the completely wrong way had me stiff in my seat. If upgraded properly this pc would still be good for 1080P gaming. Definitely a PC noob.

Turn your pc into virtual machine and install it into your new pc using virtualisation. So now your old pc with its all programs,files and folders into your new desktop as a file. Hey, ask your friends virtualisation? Vmware Or Oracle virtual box Don't you know you can have 10 different computers in one pc. Well think about virtualisation.

Yea, but I was focussing on hardware update which is important especially when you are working with graphics and video editing. This video is little bit old because I did many hardware upgrades since then and I had to change the motherboard (So that i can edit 4k 60fps video). The reason I uploaded it because it was in the previous removed channel and I found it in my computer (to see why my previous channel was deleted: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHrQk6iGadudopI).
