It is dream like, it is super light I can barely feel it in my backpack, it is powerful enough to run the programming tasks I need for the university or to play games like dota. It also looks amazing. The only issue I had with it was with the sound drivers on linux, it would make a buzzing noise when connecting headphones, but on speakers and now that I have bluetooth headphones it works normally. On windows there is no such problem. I whole heartedly recommend this laptop to everyone ♥️ the computing power obviously depends on your needs but for me, working on computer science at university, it works perfectly, i haven't tried any video editing and stuff like that but DOTA works great

The thing that concerns me with the HP Envy is a history and record of hinge malfunctions and HP *not* honoring the warranty for them. People's Envy x360 13s are breaking within months and even weeks and HP doesn't want to cover them when this is a defect effecting Envy laptops for years. Everything I've heard about the Yoga 6 is that it has sturdier better designed hinges, and their accident protection is also more affordable than HP's and so I'm hoping I can trust them more to support the device than I can HP who I have had very negative experiences.

I purchased this directly from Lenovo a few days ago and started the return process within 8 hours. For starters, it photographs better than it appears in person - In the hands it looks and feels cheap. Mine had darkened spots on the denim (glue?) but aesthetics aside, the deal breaker was the constant fan noise even after every possible update. It never turned off once but did quiet down when the Yoga was just running on battery, but still it was always on. Unacceptable, for me anyway, but thankfully Lenovo started the return process without any hassle once I mentioned the fan noise. Guess I haven't been the only one.

I kinda wonder why people are always looking for a big screen, this is one of the options on my list _because_ it has a small screen/is small in general. At the moment, Im prioritizing portability, especially coming from using a school issued chromebook for 4 years (which was even smaller, probably only 12 inches max). Im definitely a casual user, will likely only use it for text documents and watching videos (if even that because my phone is a monster in terms of battery life compared to my old one). This is really a well thought out review, and a huge help in my search! Initially, I had the Yoga 7 on my list, but that goes for around 250 USD more than this is listed for on Best Buy. Im not a gamer, I _am_ an artist, but I prefer traditional art so thats not a problem, and I always used my chromebook on the lowest brightness setting possible anyways. Thanks for the review!

Sounds good- most laptops in the budget price range have a lot more compromises than this one. I've also noticed the fan noise difference with my AMD Omen when on battery vs. plugged in, even gaming. I think when plugged in the software is more likely to boost the CPU and run the fans, thus the noise.

You have to realize that this processor is AMD's competition to Intel's i5. Your average casual user is seeing a 10th gen i5 on sale right now in laptops like the Lenovo C740 or the Surface Pro 4, and this laptop DESTROYS both of those in performance. This outperforms every 10th gen intel processor including the i7, something an average user wouldn't know. And even if it's slightly slower in some benchmarks then the same processor in other laptops, that specific AMD processor is so much better then many intel counterparts that it would be better for performance. This is better in muli-core performance then intel processors, even in the 11th gen. So I don't see a reason to knock it just because this model processor is so good in other devices
@gipsasl3 жыл бұрын
One thing you got wrong is that this is not competition to i5.Ryzen 5 is competition to i5 and Ryzen 7 to i7.Even the names gives it away bro.
@AndroidDigest3 жыл бұрын
@@gipsasl this comes with a Ryzen 4650U in the base model. Not a Ryzen 4700. People are a little perplexed that they put a 4650U in rather then a 4500U. Speculation is they were running out of 4500u's so they gave this budget model an upgrade.. I know he technically got the 4700u to test. My point is that the 4700u is the upgraded model and your average user will be going for the 4650u, which is even better then an i5 or 4500u. So it punches above is weight in the base model, not below

@AndroidDigest3 жыл бұрын
@@restauraciondeisrael5068 what's crazy is in my experience, the Yoga 6 keyboard feels amazing when typing, but terrible when gaming.. If I hold w to move a character and you hold it down, it feels so shallow to hold that key down that long. On the other end, the Yoga 6 performs radically better then the C740 with gaming and video editing. I play an old mmo and I play on low with the c740 or any 10th gen i5. But I play on high, a radical difference. In fact, this machine gave better gaming framerates then the Yoga 7i, which has an 11th gen i5 with iris graphics. Honestly I think in most stuff the Yoga 6 will be faster. Some basic things might feel slightly slower. But in reality almost everything will be faster. That's my take. But small things can take away from your experience and the C740 does have a better build quality, and it feels better when holding keys down for long periods of time when gaming, those are 2 things to consider. It's a tough call

I appreciate the review, but I don't think that putting this 13" laptop w/a 4700 up against 14" laptops w/4700s is the best comparison, especially if you're going to then make recommendations based on the Best Buy model with different specs. First, the 4700 is constrained in this much smaller chassis. Second, you've mentioned the Best Buy version of this laptop, but as you note, you're actually looking at a laptop with a different CPU, twice the RAM, and 4x the SSD space. One that is not only not available at Best Buy, but is still not even listed on Lenovo's US web site. What is the cost of that model? I own the version of this laptop available at Best Buy (as well as owning many modern other laptops) and think it performs quite well for its size and price. (In fact, I own two of these, as I just had the opportunity to pick up another one for $460 in perfect shape). Based on the benchmarks shown, the Best Buy model performs *better* than the one reviewed here (despite the "lower" processor and half the RAM), since the 4650 is a much better match for this chassis. My Geekbench 5.3 and Cinebench R23 scores, for example, are 5072 and 5930, compared to Josh's best presented scores of 4872 and 5575. Compared to other 13" 2-in-1 laptops such as the HP Envy x360 13" 2-in-1 (another 13" modern design with 11th-gen intel and top-tier Xe integrated graphics), this laptop is more performant and significantly cheaper. I wouldn't be so quick to write it off for "power users." And finally, pro sponge tip - blot, don't scrape. :) I hope this comment doesn't come across harshly. As I wrote, I appreciate Josh's reviews, but I don't think the comparisons here were the best ones to make.

What were your experiences with battery life? I have heard wildly divergent reports for regular tasks, and they often don't specify power/brightness settings: from 6-7h to 10-12.
@BGeldz3 жыл бұрын
@@danielsacilotto6235 It's difficult for me to speak definitively on battery life since I haven't run this laptop down from full to really test it. I can tell you that Windows often reports that it believes I'll have over 10 hours, and it definitely does last me a whole day without me being mindful of minding power, other than to, say, keep brightness a few clicks from maximum. the answer to why there is shortage is actually very simple. AMD uses a Taiwanese company called TSMC for the production of their chips, but unfortunately Qualcomm, nVidia and a couple more big ones do as well. These companies also require a lot of production. TSMC can't produce that many chips for all of those companies with those huge demands, so there is a shortage.

Honestly, I only wish it had a different aspect ratio. Seems to be a great student laptop!

I just bought this today. Really wish I could have bought it whenever you did. I had to pay almost $700 after tax. Really upsetting market right now. Can't tell you how much I wish I could have done this 5 months ago. New student and I was like I don't need a laptop. Now I'm going on a 2 week vacation out of no where lol. Edit: ok watched a bit farther I have the better cpu model but with downgraded storage. Idk still feel robbed. Lol 2nd edit: I'm immediately subbing. You really spread peanut butter on it. Honestly thought it was click bait, but it's obviously just you're niche, or maybe I should say personal fetish lololol. Thanks for the honest review.

Sweet. I did literally 0 research into the machine. Needed a laptop for a new job and saw a yoga 6 open box like new at bestbuy. I fingered the keyboard on the display model. Felt good enough. And decided to pull the trigger. Had it for a day and yep. It's a laptop. I own a thinkpad X230 that's a decade old. The power connector keeps shorting inside the magnesium case. I'm tired of fixing it. It's definitely an old machine. And it was time to upgrade. I've got a Ryzen 5600X/RTX3070 desktop. This will mostly handle excel docs. Some light photoshop and lightroom stuff. Acrobat/indesign/illustrator. But that all ran fine on my x230 with a i7-3520M. I'm sure it'll run fine on this. A little bummed it only has 8gb of ram. That might be the one weak spot that actually gives me trouble. But didn't see any machines in the price range with more ram that I could justify buying. Needed something with a little more muscle than an ultrabook/chromebook. But not much. Good on lenovo I never buy tech on a whim like this without doing a couple days research. But I don't think I'll regret this purchase. Didn't even realize I was getting 6 cores 12 threads!

Thank you for your review. I just bought this laptop today. My only complaints are the brightness isn’t that great and the spacebar key doesn’t have any spring to it. I am thinking about taking it back tomorrow and getting either the hp spectre or the MacBook Air
@ximenavaldeiglesias97742 жыл бұрын
please never get a HP laptop, if it has some issues as mine, they take 9 months to solve the problem taking your laptop each time for 14 days for reparation and finally it continues with the same problem ( ventilator). HP is not trustable anymore.

I have one of these from BB, and love it to death. Especially the color and fabric cover, it feels great to use. I'm not a power user, so it works perfectly for my needs.

@@sweetbeep It's definitely there, if fan noise really bothers you, you might want to look elsewhere. for the $500 cost of this laptop, it doesn't bother me too much.

What are some issues of the zenbook 14? Planning to get 1 later on this year. In my country, the zenbook 14 has usb c charging so that isn't an issue. What other issues should I look out for to see if it makes or breaks my decision on getting it, Josh?

The peanut butter is a great idea. I have a fleet of Surface Laptop 2/3 with the Alcantana(sp) material and they're disgusting; however, this material is on the palm-rest and not the lid.
