If you have a second display or don’t need to see who you’re talking to, crank the monitor brightness and open a blank/mostly white page and it gives you a pretty decent front light source

I’ve seen a lot of these videos but the one tip that was super helpful it was to look at the camera so it looks like I’m looking at them! Thanks for the great suggestion.

As Gerald White said: Simply presented and easy to understand. Engaging, to the point, Thank you! I have a question to the pros (you on the video?): Looking at the camera is really not natural. It's ok for a presentation video because it's mosltly one way, but in a regular zoom/team meeting, I also want to be engaged with the person I'm talking to, so I'm looking for ideas on this. What I'm doing so far, since I'm already using 2 stand alone screens and a separate webcam (not my laptop's), is to place my webcam between the 2 screens (on a stand, my raised laptop, or a soon to come tripod). I put the 2 screens side by side as close as possible from each other while leaving only the space necessary between them for the lens of the webcam to see me while not seeing the back edges of my screens. Then, when I'm talking to someone, I move the zoom window so the eyes of the person I'm talking too is as close as possible to the camera lenz, the zoom window often overlapping the 2 screens. With many people on the meeting, I move the window around manually (sometime I don't bother) but I'm shure these guys will catch-up and implement a similar concept automatically moving the window so the eyes of the person speaking is as close as possible to the webcam lens. Is sounds so easy to implement digitally!

Great video. The one thing that's hard for me to wrap my head around though is not looking at who you are talking to. If you are doing a podcast, how are you supposed to watch each others reaction?

Doesn't really help when the laptop manufacturer integrates the camera at a low level. What would you suggest then (other than buying a SECOND camera that I've already paid for once, and has been DELIBERATELY placed at an unflattering angle)?

Great video. Any tips for looking into camera while having to read from a script on zoom? Thanks

Maybe you could do a video on getting better audio on work calls, and how to fix audio from this sources, I've been editing a lot of zoom calls and been struggling a lot with the audio quality. Thanks for the video!

As Shakespeare said, "Brevity is the soul of wit." In this light, many how-to videos prove utterly witless. NOT SO WITH THIS VIDEO. Great practical advice that I need in a concise presentation. Greg knows his stuff. Bravo!

Also consider light placement when wearing glasses. Reflection on the lenses is distracting! Nice recommendation on the WebCam Settings App but the reviews are sometimes poor.

the problem with looking at the camera is that there is nothing to look at. There is no visual feedback which makes it difficult to keep my focus on it. It would probably help if you make the receiving image smaller and pin it near your camera so if your eyes dwindle to the image your not looking far off. Annoying little issue of webcams.

That 5th tip, what if they’re also looking only at their camera. No one would ever see each other at all lol

Exactly I'm looking at them, my own video is distracting and trying to stare into the camera... which honestly can be creepy for the other person if over done as well
