Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, sprouted grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky), pasture for livestock, thatching thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others. A common kind of grass is used to cover the ground in places such as lawns and parks. Grass is usually the color green. That is because they are wind-pollinated rather than insect-pollinated, so they do not have to attract insects. Green is the best colour for photosynthesis.

@savvivixen8490
@savvivixen8490 Жыл бұрын
No, you're worth it. Those monks, however they ended up there, have a daily routine an mentors/peers to keep them accountable. Part of what they train for is also discipline (which is also literally an aspect of Buddhism), so it's not something that's necessarily inherent. It may be a challenge to mimic their lifestyle 1:1, but there's no harm in taking little lessons away from them bit by bit. Not all at once, just one aspect at a time. For example, instead of Cheetohs at 4am, try popcorn at 4am (any flavor, no butter). Or keep the Cheetohs, but go to bed at 10:30pm consistently. And don't forget to drink water! You're worth the effort! Good luck on your journey! ✌🏿

I knew that the shaolin monks were skilled warriors with incredible techniques and knowledge but seeing this video I have become more impressed and very happy that these skills have been preserved and practiced broadly in China. These skills are not only useful defense but also give the person more discipline, peace of mind and self confidence. Children from the age of 5 should learn kungfu for their own good.

@@malekhekal4238The same goes both ways, albeit to a lesser extent. Some people simply prefer a simpler lifestyle that doesn't require investing 16 hours of your day grinding to reach a goal. I like this video and it’s a good general overview of the Shaolin Monk’s daily routine. However, it is more nuanced than that. While the daily schedules can vary depending on the focus of the monastery-whether it's martial arts or meditation-most follow a structured routine of physical, spiritual, and communal activities. 1. Shaolin Temple in Henan, China (Martial Arts-Focused) The Shaolin Temple in Henan Province is the birthplace of Shaolin Kung Fu and places a heavy emphasis on martial arts training. While meditation and spiritual practices are essential, the monks here are known for their rigorous Kung Fu practice. Typical Daily Schedule - **4:30 AM**: Morning meditation (typically Chan or Zen Buddhism meditation). - **5:30 AM**: Morning chanting and prayers. - **6:00 AM**: Breakfast (usually simple vegetarian meals). - **7:00 AM**: Kung Fu training (this includes forms, weapons practice, and conditioning). - **12:00 PM**: Lunch and a short break. - **2:00 PM**: More Kung Fu training or sparring practice. - **5:00 PM**: Evening meditation or study of Buddhist scriptures. - **7:00 PM**: Dinner (often lighter than lunch). - **8:00 PM**: Night meditation and personal reflection. - **9:30 PM**: Bedtime. Monks at the Shaolin Temple often spend up to 4-6 hours a day practicing Kung Fu. In addition, they integrate the philosophical and spiritual aspects of Zen into their practice, but physical cultivation is primary here. 2. Shaolin Temple in Songshan, China (Balanced Focus) This monastery offers a balanced focus between martial arts and meditation. Songshan is another significant center of Shaolin tradition and follows a more moderate schedule that balances meditation and physical discipline. Typical Daily Schedule - **5:00 AM**: Wake-up and morning chanting. - **5:30 AM**: Meditation (focusing on inner peace and mindfulness). - **6:30 AM**: Morning Kung Fu practice (basic forms and light training). - **8:00 AM**: Breakfast. - **9:00 AM**: Study of Buddhist sutras and teachings. - **12:00 PM**: Lunch, followed by a rest period. - **2:00 PM**: Afternoon Kung Fu training (more intensive training than the morning session). - **5:00 PM**: Evening chanting or group discussion of Buddhist philosophy. - **6:00 PM**: Dinner. - **7:00 PM**: Evening meditation and reflection on Buddhist teachings. - **9:00 PM**: Bedtime. Here, physical and mental cultivation are integrated, with Kung Fu seen as a method of both physical and spiritual discipline. 3. Shaolin Monasteries Focused on Meditation (Chan/Zen Monasteries) Some Shaolin monasteries focus more on meditation and the internal cultivation of the mind and spirit, with martial arts playing a secondary role. These monasteries emphasize Chan Buddhism (Zen) and the search for enlightenment through mindfulness and meditation. Typical Daily Schedule - **3:30 AM**: Wake-up and morning meditation (Chan meditation, focusing on mindfulness and breathing techniques). - **5:00 AM**: Morning chanting. - **6:00 AM**: Silent breakfast. - **7:00 AM**: Meditation (sitting and walking meditation, focusing on introspection and mindfulness). - **10:00 AM**: Study of Buddhist scriptures or dharma discussions. - **12:00 PM**: Lunch and rest period. - **2:00 PM**: Meditation or Qi Gong (a more meditative form of martial arts aimed at internal energy flow). - **4:00 PM**: Evening chanting and prayers. - **5:00 PM**: Light dinner or tea (sometimes monks fast during this period). - **6:00 PM**: Evening meditation (often longer sessions). - **9:00 PM**: Bedtime. Monks in these monasteries may practice Qi Gong or Tai Chi rather than intensive Shaolin Kung Fu, focusing on the internal energy or "qi" and cultivating calmness of mind. The primary aim is spiritual enlightenment rather than physical prowess. This is from several books on the subject: 1. The Shaolin Monastery: History, Religion, and the Chinese Martial Arts, by Meir Shahar 2. The Way of Shaolin: KUNG FU, by Master Da Shi Yongxin 3. Shaolin Kung Fu: The Lost Art, by Wong Kiew Kit

Bruce Lee: _”The average American male, with one year of wrestling experience, can defeat a Shaolin monk in a fight”_

Depends and I think you’re misquoting the honorable Bruce Lee when he said karate or kung fu black belt. I don’t recall him saying Shaolin monks and if so whatever it doesn’t take from their skill and discipline it seems your hater who isn’t trained in nothing but just trolling displaying your insecurities 🤦🏾‍♂️🙄

He didn't said that, he critiques the mc dojo system. So he said any student who train wrestling diligently for 1 year can defeat these (mc dojo) black belt everytime

Actually just for health. Shaolin monks started doing Kung Fu because they used to live sedentary lives spent in prayer and study. Kung Fu is more dance than actual combat.

@@user-he4ef9br7zAlso temples were often harassed by bandits in the past, they needed to be able to ward off attackers in some way. While their martial training is mostly for health and discipline, it does have some roots in actual combat.

Mostly tourism and donations. Before these temples were so popular with visitors they mostly did their best to live sustainably on their own, temples would also often help nearby communities with work if they really needed money. Buddhism is very much focused on self improvement in every aspect of life, so at least traditionally anything they can do themselves, they will do themselves.
