I like the theory on the motor. I noticed others with that setup. I should try it out. Good stuff.

Thanks, so with proper gearing is this faster than stock box, also what size connector does it have I'm not much on soldering but would but a adaptor, thanks again

Hey man I put a ztw beast pro 4271 1900 kv sensored motor in my be6s and it is insane bro like standing backflips even with my wheelie bar on. I just can't believe the torque and it's sensored so I can crawl if I want and no cogging.

Hi Jeremy, I've got a 1720 can ready to install with a Max6 ESC... can you please share your experiences on pinions and what your Leopard can tolerate? I want to be same or faster than my current set up, being the stock V4 Kraton electrics + 15T pinion. I've got a 19T & 21T at my disposal only..... worried that the 19T will be slower than current set up and conversely that the 21T will overheat the can..... first world problems

Love this ! I have the same motor in the arrma outcast I’m building . The only issue I have is the leopard mounting holes are 3mm and the arrma sliding motor mount uses 4 mm so I wondered what size mounting screw you used ? Any help would be great and keep up the great work !

I would tap new holes in mounting plate make it 4mm. Pull it off motor and change the threads

The Rc Collaborative Jeremy Hopkins .thank you very much I did think about this I’ll remove the mounting plate from the motor and dig out my metric taps

@@y1ano be careful, I'm not sure if you need to drill out for M4 or if you should just run in the tap as is. Im guessing you might be ok to pre drill with M4 size bit then tap it like a new hole. My concern would be the hole Issa already large at M3 with threads in it. Maybe test scrap metal, tap M3 then see what going up to M4 looks like
@y1ano4 жыл бұрын
should have mentioned my motor is the 2200kv so I won’t be gearing as high. I’m thinking of something in the 12-16 range .

@@y1ano you can also tap completely new holes just get spacing right with a caliper and leave the m3 alone

Would this be good for a Kraton with stock esc and 6s Lipo? Stock motor broke out of nowhere...
@therccollaborative95244 жыл бұрын
The stock motor is actually pretty good and you can find those cheap. If you were happy with speed run time and didn't have overheating issues I could recommend another stock motor. Changing motors like this one requires different pinion gears and you will lose speed.

he really work better thzn the classic Castle 1515 2200kv? and the Castle vs the stock motor? Castle is better than the stock motor imo ;) now there is leopard sensored v3 motor... nice review! perhaps one leopard v2 4282 is a good option too...

Hi, I didn't know what the KV was until now thanks for helping me with that. I been in this hobby a short time now. I would like if someone could share with me how to remove the end cap off a 1300KV brushless Leopard motor? by the way my name is John. Thanks

I HAVE v3 KRATON and I am looking to upgrade my motor and ESC so I can run it on a 20 or 21 t pinion! What castle motor and ESC are in your KRATON currently now? If I was to go w/ the leopard 4092 1730KV Brushless Motor what did you have to do to the wires and what ESC are you running the Mamba 8

Would something like this motor a good step up from my 1/8 Castle 1515 Brushless motor?? I'm looking for something with more torque to push my heavy ass Emaxx (3908) And what ESC would you recommend??
@therccollaborative95244 жыл бұрын
This will have more torque with less top end. Might have less issues with heat
@YamahaCubed4 жыл бұрын
Have an E-Maxx too. 3905 converted to 3908++. Running 6s. Aluminum chassis, transmission case, shock towers, axle/hub carriers, differential cases, heavy, hardened steel CVD driveshafts with helical cut ring and pinions in the diffs. It weighs plenty it should be okay with the stock, 68T (upgraded hardened steel) spur ratio, combined with a steel 18T pinion. Have a Castle system in it. Mamba Monster X with 1515 2200kv sensored. The ESC is okay, but the motor runs WAY too hot. Will absolutely cook the flesh. Just purchased a (sensorless) 4092 brushless in 1300kv. The fancy helical cut diff gears are a higher ratio than the stock, pot metal ones. Combine that with a (yet to be installed) little bit higher ratio steel 65T spur and 20-21T pinion; it should have a comparable top speed to the smaller 2200. I think. Will find out, eventually. A 4092 motor is definitely the size you'd want for an E-Maxx. Seems like overkill, but it's actually not. Now, if the bearings hold up for the diffs.... that'll be another story.

@@NuisancePanda With ESC, I went with a hobbywing EZRUN Max 6. It's an ESC for 6th scale models, but will fit between the battery locations just fine. It doesn't cost a lot more than the 1/8th scale ESC.....so, why not? It's extra insurance for such a large motor. Being only 40mm in diameter, the motor fits the stock motor mount as any other 8th scale motor does. It's just a hell of a lot longer (92mm) with tons more torque with the lower KV. Putting it with a stock plastic 3908 chassis. My second build. Everything else will be aluminum again, however. Including the transmission case. Everything is all shimmed tight and ready to go. I expect it to shred the 6x4x12mm bearings for the pinions in the diffs, however. Just packed them overly full with Lucas Red & Tacky....and will pray lol. Oh, and if you do invest in a 4092 motor....make sure it's not for boats. Those have openings at the ends where dirt can get in the motor. 👍

The HS 4092 1480kv motor has the thicker wires, odd this one didn't... I just ordered a 24t that i hope fits with a HR mount... Want to get a TP 4070 1520kv and have my kraton 8s but i think the kraton drive line cant handle 8s even shimmed. When ever i see a 8s kraton, its all grindy.
@therccollaborative95245 жыл бұрын
Yeah people don't understand that 6s is beyond taxing and while the kraton is made for 6s it will cause more things to break more often 8s would be even worse
@stuart37125 жыл бұрын
@@therccollaborative9524 Yeah that's why i even fear going to a TP motor even at 6s. I have HR diff bulkheads which will help but i dont know if the diff gears are made of pressed metal dust or solid cast or w/e... If i did get that TP motor, i def would stay with 6s and should give a fair jump in power over my HS 1480kv. I kinda wish i got the Cen Reeper back then over the V2 Kraton even tho i love ARRMA and my Kraton but the Cen Reeper has a crazy strong drive line so people says making it perfect for a 8s upgrade.
