I always wanted to do ballet, but me being me, I was too shy to ask my parents. I thought they'd think it's stupid. Just a forgotten dream, maybe in another lifetime. It still makes me sad, yet I think heals a part of my inner child to see ballerinas online. Well, it's too late now.
@megazp70039 ай бұрын
It's never to late, you should be able to find basic curses for adults (It depends on your countrie, but it's considered cultural activities so you should find them somewhere). Even if you are not professional in this lifetime you can enjoy it just as much as you want, pls don't give up!
@jamiebumbaugh9 ай бұрын
not too late!!!! i did ballet as a child and definitely wanted to progress more, but didn't know how to ask and my area doesn't really have a professional school or company in that sense, so it was a forgotten dream of mine. now im hoping to start lessons with an actual company soon as a 25 year old. 🫶🏻 just have to look around and ask companies in your area!

You should look into beginner classes in your area or over Zoom. It’s never too late to dance! Temper your expectations of what you expect to get out of it, but just moving your body is such an important thing, honestly. The best time to plant a tree was thirty years ago. The second best is today.

Never too late! Plenty of people start out as adults, there are even classes for beginner adults, also there are international recognised professionals that started as teenagers! Please follow this dream, ballet is amazing and you won't regret it🤩

I went to a recreational dance center and for a few years, we had a director who had been a professional ballet dancer and she renamed the dance classes based on color (ex: what was once ballet 1 or jazz 1 became sky blue ballet or sky blue jazz, indigo was the highest level). It's neat to now understand what the impetus was for the color system, but at the time all the parents were hella confused They're back to a 1, 2 , 3, intermediate, advanced, etc system btw

For our school, we did light purple for the smaller kids (this used to be light pink), and then progress into this light blue, then into mulberry, then into black, and finally into purple.
@danaidavou61627 ай бұрын
We had that both at my school and at my ballet school. At kindergarten I took ballet classes at school and we had that colour system. But the colours of the leotards were yellow, blue and pink. Yellow was for the children that were around 3 - 4 and blue or pink for the children that were around 5 - 6. The pink actually came because lots of children came from a different building of the same school and the leotards there were pink so they already had them. For my ballet school now we had one colour, the colour was purple, but we had different designs for each grade. That happened till puberty where everyone started to wear whatever they liked and mostly black for obvious reasons, if we consider that there was no male inside the classroom.

Interesting but I didn't realize how hardcore places are with colors. When I was investigating just ballet schools (not dance studios- but ballet academies. There was 1 exception with a ballet academy within the dance studio offering a structured program leading to pre-professional & professional. ) back in Western Massachusetts where I grew up the "dress code" was no layers except for leg warmers and a sheer skirt (optional) outside of kinder-dance it was black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet flats unless you were En Pointe.

My school reversed that order aside from the advanced in black! The idea was that we don't need to see the lines as clearly in the youngest kiddos, but the older and more advanced they get the more important it is to clearly see their bodies. And by the time they're advanced they should have good enough technique that we would not need the precision offered by light leotards -- though until recently advanced students were required white and black leotards. We went navy blue, light blue, light pink, black (and sometimes white).

My ballet school isn't that big, and we don't have specific assigned colors. Youngest year light pink, everyone else wears black. Except for a few classes, some of the modern or jazz or whatever classes you can wear colored leos. Depends on what the teacher says. I'm in company, and one of the classes we take, you can wear colored leos. My school is fairly small, and we only have two boys in company, one is like 8/9, the other is 12, so it's not so surprising we just stick with black leos.

My school was red leos until you turn 5, then once you get out of the kiddie stage, pale blue, dark blue, black. The audition- only company wore whatever leo they wanted. And everyone wore pale pink tights. They wouldn’t let any of us match our skin tones- pink for everyone regardless.

In my school, we wore different colors for different years, but we (the class) and the teacher collectively decided what color and design should they be. A seamstress came who took our measurements and made them herself. Usually, we did this twice every year. The colors were indeed lighter in the beginning, but it really didn't matter that much as long as we were all wearing the same ones.

I think level 4 is bright purple and level 5 is navy blue. Level 3 wears light blue and then level 2 wears light purple. Level 6 is mostly based off of general talent so not rlly a specific age but there are only 6 of us in my level (6 in level 6 easy to remember lol) I’m a high schooler and so are 3 other girls the other 2 are in 8th grade. At one of my ballet schools they let the 2 3 and 4 year olds wear black because the littles always managed to stain their leotards and it was "against the rules" (meaning we would get a verbal warning/correction) to have any stains on our leotards and the littles would tell on each other for having stains (i assisted in the littles classes for a few years and the first year i assisted they still had to wear light pink and they would tell me multiple times when someone had a stain and i would have to tell the kid with the stain that they needed to make sure not to have the stain next class)

Im a guy and we wear black tights with white shirts, socks and shoes up until level 4 where we have the option to wear black shirts and shoes. The idea of lighter cloths is that it is easier to see your body. I still choose to wear white socks and shoes so that I can see the shape that my feet are making.
