Thanks a lot for your review! To answer your question at the end, the white noise is perfectly normal for any sound amplification. An amplifier amplifies everything that reaches it, be it ambient noise or an actual useful signal. The white noise you hear comes from the unavoidable imperfections of the amplifier's circuits themselves, which happens even with high quality material. The only important thing is to have a good signal/noise ratio at the end; that is the incoming signal being much more potent that the ambient noise + the amplifier's noise. Ideally, once there's an actual signal, the noise is completely submerged by the signal and you don't hear it anymore, in the same manner you can get annoyed by the faint sound of a single mosquito at night, but would never notice dozens of them flying around when you're talking with friends in a bar, for example.

I have also ordered one and have no problems with it. All the functions work and on my speakers it can go really loud (too loud for my neighbors). There is a bit of a hiss if no sound-source is active, but completely silent when there is. It DOES sound very 'tinny' compared to my (proper) amplifiers. It definitely sounds like a sub-$50 amplifier (which makes it great value for money). I'll probably won't be using it for enjoying music, but it makes a great amplifier for a room where the quality of the sound is not so important.

I have this amp, and it will absolutely produce a buzzing noise (especially from the sub) if it is not properly grounded. I can't say for sure that there isn't another cause, or that some of the fixes mentioned by others below won't work, but the one I have produces the buzzing sound with every device I have tested it with unless the amp is grounded. I use mine in a pinball table and have it grounded to the pinball power supply. If you are sill using it you may be able to ground it to your PC case.

Thank you for this great and helpful review! I'm considering buying this one for my PC system to reduce the power consumption of my amplifier which is a really large JVC R-X110 from the early 80s. :D This amplifier that I'm using for my computer was made for HiFi systems back then and I’m almost sure it needs a lot more power than this smaller one, especially at night when it’s running in idle. This is quite annoying because I’m sleeping with a video or some music in the background every night, and electricity costs you a fortune where I’m living (Germany). I’ve got one last question about the LP-838: Do you think its sound is good enough for music respectively mp3 when you’re about to listen to loud music from time to time? I’m not an audiophile, but nonetheless I want my mp3s to be played in a decent sound quality.

I ordered one of these from Aliexpress. Probably a few weeks before I receive it. I think I paid about 20 bucks for the amplifier and 12v power supply adapter. Evaluating the sound from your video would be subjective, and stupid, due to many variables.- My playback amplifier and speakers, the microphone you use to record source material, etc. Obviously it's not going to sound good through my cell phone. Just anxious about receiving delivery of this unit, and curious on your thoughts, rather than trying to listen to playback over KZbin through my phone. I'm not looking for world class sound like my Harman Kardon or one of my vintage Marantz receivers, playing through Polk, JBL, or Infinity speakers. Just decent sound for the bedroom. So, what can I expect? Decent volume and satisfying bass? Clean sound without distortion? I'm thinking of using it to drive a small pair of old Radio Shack Minimus 7 bookshelf speakers, and a reclaimed 8" JVC subwoofer salvaged by a friend when he threw out his old mini home theater system that is 6 ohms. Appreciate any thoughts and opinions on how you think they might pair for a cheap bedroom stereo for music listening.
@sazzad_hossain.s5 жыл бұрын
It would be perfect! Bass is clean, I didn't notice distortion, but u may hear white noise as to be expected. I use the same setup I have on the video to entertain guests sometimes, that small sub and amount of bass the amp produces is enough to rock my living room! I think u'll be pretty satisfied 😉
@ericvillano57295 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Sazzad. I'm not looking for concert level volume, and bass that will crack plaster. Just decent sound with reasonably decent bass response. The wife wasn't too thrilled about me moving in a big stereo receiver, and big, "Monkey Coffin," tower speakers into the bedroom, so the idea of one of these seems more practical. I appreciate your thoughts, and opinions.

Hi, I want to ask a question. Im working at a project which is try the tablet to car speakers. There is a few important point. First, I want to control the volume by tablet. Can I control the volume by tablet (up-down volume , only volume) when I connect the tablet to lepy as input by 3.5mm and speakers connected to lepy? Second, I will hide the lepy into the baggage. So I will not touch the leppy. It will stay as full volumed. Is this possible?

Hi, could cause damage to your active sub. The Lepy will work as an amp, and your active sub will also have it's own dedicated amp, and without having an LFP out on the lepy, I wouldn't recommend it. One could make it work if active sub has speakers-in wire, but that's not what it's meant for.. not that it won't work, but I wouldn't... It's like if trying to have two girlfriends at the same time .. fun.. but not really lol
