He was alking about how modern songs (being 2000s) had stagnant grooves. Nowadays the songs are repetitive and don't even have god beats! But when he started playing "mainline" that was magic

That's "too funny". What the interviewer calls "tension" is actually a " release"! Lol Leroy, being a class act, just goes along with the term the interviewer used during his explanation. I don't think the interviewer gets where a fair amount of Leroy's (and Kashif's) harmonic arrangement ideas come from...the one and only Quincy Jones, :-)
