What a nice gun! I have a Baer Ultimate Tactical Carry that I sent back to Baer to have a magwell installed. Baer only offers a two piece magwell from Ed Brown, but I wanted a one piece mag well. I didn't want any other company to work on my gun, so I contacted Baer. They agreed to install an Ed Brown one piece magwell, as long as I provided it. So I bought the magwell from Ed Brown, and sent it with the gun. It came back looking perfect. They blended the magwell to the frame like it was all one piece of steel. I couldn't be happier. And I love shooting it. It is my new favorite 1911. As a side note, I went with the UTC because I don't like the ambi safety. But I also don't like the thin grips on the UTC. I figured it would be easier to change the grips than the safety.

Fantastic to see you got it! Congratulations! If it shoots great never let it go. I am loving my New Le Baer Boss and I plan to take it down and clean it at 900 rounds just to be good. Your Blue Custom Carry is gorgeous, I still have my Stainless one. On another note, I picked up a used Thunder Ranch from 2009 for $1,500..... I had to get it. I would guess it is in 90% condition with 3,000 rounds through it would be my best guess. I may do a video on it if folks are interested. Your Les Baer is a freaking Masterpiece! Take care my friend. 2fast2block I am so sorry to hear that you let your LB 1911’s go. I have 3 and I just Special Ordered a 4Th. I own a Nighthawk which is also Very Nice. Did you go with a Wilson or Nighthawk or did you get out of 1911’s altogether. I sold all my 1911’s once and 2 years latter I was buying the 1911 pistols all over again. I really enjoy all metal handguns and for me that has been Sigs 226, 229, 220 and 1911’s mostly Dan Wesson’s And Les Baers. Have a great Sunday! Beretta Sr.

Beautiful pistol! Not a fan of hard fitting, but it works for them. True custom guns are made to the specification of the customer, not made on an assembly line then bought as is. Keep it lubed, they are known for uneven contact points on the slide/frame rails due to hammering the slide on.

@@TampaDE5 you can order an actual custom gun with a full length dust cover, 12-26 lpi on the front strap, any rear sight you want for what you’ll be shooting, thick or thin flange bushing, choice of barrel twist and spring for the ammo the gun will be running. You can’t customize any of these, they come as is. You can send the gun back to them after you buy it and have all the options added or changed, but that’s pretty pricey.

@@TampaDE5 a handful of companies offer true custom guns. I suggest reading up on your 1911 knowledge and get smart on the market before swerving out of your lane again. It happens to best of us, but everyone needs a piece of humble pie and I don’t mind cutting a slice for you to take home.

The 'Hitch' you describe is the disconnector clearing the sear. A typical 1911 does not do that. I have four Baers and none do that nor do any other 1911's I have.

Les Baer has loosened the hard fit due to snowflakes complaining that they can't open the slide. I have a Concept VII built back in Hilldale, Illinois, and it was super tight. I had to pop the muzzle to break the slide lock up. My Custom Carry purchased in 2014 was built in LeClaire, Iowa, and was not as tight. Love my Baers. Absolutely no frills, no silliness. Just a pure 1911 built for performance and serious social work.

Wish they were 2 grand here in CA lol I just purchased this gun, but it was the 1.5" @ 50yrd version so I did pay about $300 more for that. Was just shy of $3,000 because of all the BS CA markups.

Nice pc but I just bought a rock island for one fourth the price with all the same options as yours and is a hand fitted gun made out of 4140 and I even got a nice plastic box it came in 0 and it has a lifetime warranty and they pay shipping both ways if it ever needs it and the warranty goes with the gun so if I sell it the new owner gets the same warranty and did I mention that rock island is the largest 1911 manufacturer in the world,

Nice review, but literally nothing in the gun is made of “tool steel.” Every part in the gun is either forged 4140 or 4150 or cast 8620. None of those are tool steels. Anyway, I suppose that gun companies and their BS advertising are to blame for your error. Seems like everyone is suddenly calling basic forged or bar stock 4140 “tool steel” these days.
