I put in one pick up in one guitar (lucked into the wiring, didn't know what I was doing) and gooched another (took that one to a tech who put in a three way switch in my PRS. @jimfromoh89444 жыл бұрын
Name a famous guitarist and the chances of them having a guitar tech is off the charts. Some people choose to focus on playing rather than fixing. I didn't see any fixes Dave made that were directly attributable to the owner not maintaining. In fact, he may have taken it to the wrong tech and that is how it ended up with Dave. The nut fix he did is not an easy fix for someone without the knowledge, tools and experience. It's really easy to goober up a nut unless you have done it a bunch of times.

You need to keep the pencil perpendicular to the nut in order to get the proper line on the nut. The back end of the pencil was at the center of the neck, the high point of the radius, giving an inaccurate mark. It may not be much off but you know as well as anyone that even small increments on a guitar can give you problems. Just my 2 cents.💰🎸✌
@MarkGeraghty3 жыл бұрын
What ?
@jamesrohrbach91473 жыл бұрын
@@MarkGeraghty His pencil wasn't 90 degrees to the nut so his line didn't follow the contour of the neck, so the string slots would be at the wrong depth.

Apparently the owner of said guitar has jumped in, claiming it was "hand-painted" by some "famous artist." I'm guessing that "famous artist" was having an off-day. Or maybe that "famous artist" just isn't used to "hand painting" on carved-top guitars. In any case, the owner seems to like it enough, but they should have picked another beat-up Studio with a solid finish to "hand paint," as to not waste that top.
