Dave I always wanted to say thank you. I've learned so much from you when it comes to setting up a guitar. I'm a hobby guitar player, but I work as an engineer, so I'm naturally curious about things. Meanwhile, I've got all the important tools to maintain my guitars by myself. Only things I don't/can't/won't do are fret-jobs and invasive kind of things. Anyways, the other day I had a professional session guitarist over and he played one of my strats. He loved how it played and wanted to meet the guy who set it up. I said you're sitting in front of him. So I wanted to redirect that compliment to you, because everything I needed for that setup came from your videos. So thank you very much. All the best from Frankfurt/Germany

Exactly this! Dave 'taught' me (another inquisitive engineer) enough to set up both my own basses. Upon playing one, a good friend entrusted me with his studio PBass that has been properly abused. A bit of 'Dave'-taught love and magic later, this bass seems to be the go-to instrument for anyone using his studio, needing a big, clangy P sound. Very humbled that an old, unloved and abused work horse is now the beloved monster it has become. Bless you, Dave for sharing your passion... @Frankyboy, keep that pro-player updated! Imho, musicians can be a bit finicky about who sets up and touches their stuff - could be a career change right here, buddy! Best of luck.

@BSIII4 жыл бұрын
Well if someone is giving him a guitar to work on, means that it's not set up to their preference, and they're hiring dave to set it up to their preference. So if it's already set up to your preference, why would you even give him your guitar, unless you actually enjoy dave's banter, which in that case, disregard my point. I only say this because I've hear other commenters complain about dave's attitude.
@BSIII4 жыл бұрын
@@wrenchhead4378 people act like the clients who hire Dave to work on their guitars don't know he makes videos, goofing around about the guitars he's working on, or think dave's comedic take on his client's guitars is disregarding, and in defiance of the client's setup preferences, even though the client hired dave to set it up to their preference. Absolutely makes no sense, and I see so many comments like that. People wouldn't be hiring Dave if they were unhappy with his work, or hated his comedic style. Common sense. If I was in his city, i'd happily give him one of my guitars to work on, knowing he'll film it, joke about it, and upload it.

Since there is no reason to due a setup then ship a guitar. Id like to volunteer my services if you were to giveaway a guitar to someone in the southwestern Pennsylvania area to do a set up. I'm sure you have enough fans from each state in the USA to help with setups then actually deliver the guitar or bass within 50 to 100 miles. The trade off being for the person that does the setup , you could say who did the setup. The person that wins the guitar could maybe do a quick review on how the new guitar plays and feels. I'm on Facebook ( Sids sick setups). Everyone gets some help during these times. Dave hopefully gets more patrons, patrons win guitars, Luthiers get some recognition. Take care Dave.
