Your explanation of the springy thingy saved me. When I set my cleaning rage off to the side I heard a metal twang and did not know where this piece of I metal came from. Thanks

Couple things you forgot to mention: In what order do you tighten the bolts on the pan, how many quarts to add...

I did the same on my car but the trans solenoids were the problem, I haven’t gotten to do that yet I was hoping those solenoids were under there too.

I learned many things from watching Ned Flanders work. Note to self install a drain plug for transmission fluid.

Its a reusable gasket. It is a over tightening proof gasket.

Food for thought gomer, if the new filter comes with a new seal(thingy), LEAVE IT ON! REMOVE THE OLD SEAL INSIDE THE TRANS!
@Taterater1344 жыл бұрын
Easier said than done. I've taken the old seal out twice and it's a huge pain. Not to mention you tend to damage the area where it seats. Getting the new one in is no easy chore either; Best to leave it in if there's nothing wrong with it.

What fluid did you use?
@ChadCurkendall6 жыл бұрын
I don't recall, it was whatever oil that was recommended by the database at the local auto-parts store. I'm sure it's a quick google search or polite question at the parts store.
@NeverOwned6 жыл бұрын
The reason I asked is there was debate whether to use dexron3 or the new dexron6 which is suppose to be superior.
@michaelserrano43443 жыл бұрын
how many quarts did u put please
@shanedenny5234 Жыл бұрын
They don't make Dexron 3 anymore I read. It's Dexron 4 now. 👍
@shanedenny5234 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelserrano4344 You use 6 quarts filter replacement, 10 quarts if doing an overhaul. After using just 6 quarts, drive about 300 miles and change again to rid of extra fluid left behind in the torque converter.
@robl.10536 жыл бұрын
definitely don't use drill to start pan screws not good to use drill or power tools for these
@ChadCurkendall6 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right, watching it now makes me cringe a bit. I did have the drill set to the lowest break-away setting but that's still not a good excuse to do that.

You know your in trouble when he calls a seal a thingy, or has no idea what to call his pliers. Still gives me an idea of what I'm dealing with
@ChadCurkendall6 жыл бұрын
Knowing what you're dealing with is all that matters to me. I always find that the first run-through on any disassembly has the highest odds of breaking stuff so this video has been done for the benefit of others, although I do throw a little comedic stupidity in there for a giggle or two.

Should've reused the original gasket. It's aluminum centered. Better than a full rubber. Just saying.
