Mariah doesn't see herself as a gospel artist but she does listen to it, she loves the Clark sisters, has mentioned them as an inspiration. Karen Clark Sheard actually did a tribute for Mariah singing one of her songs "anytime you need a friend" She does have a few gospel songs/sounding songs as well.

Yes, some of the best singer's ever are background singers.(Mariah Carey, Lisa Fischer, Luther Vandross) You should really check out Lisa Fischer, she was a backup singer for Luther Vandross mainly but also worked with ALOT of different people. You need to react to her singing "how to ease the pain" live in Japan. This women is a master. Such an underrated artist/vocalist.

Bodyguard tour was 8 legs, you have iconic shooed like the HBO South African show, u have the show in Brazil, and Argentina where she sings like never before using technical styles new and common to her. I'd love to see you react to her voice at the radio city music hall shows, her voice was at its peak on I will always love you in the purple jumper and I-Have nothing and I'm telling u. Take a look you may like what you find! Btw this was a great song for Mariah and b2m a nice duet, back then it would take two superstar acts to replace Whitney's number 1 record, no one could stop her then but herself!

I Remember 90s very well, Mariah was unstoppable, she debuted in 1990 and she totally dominated the decade like no one has ever done, charts, sales, everything, that's why she was the only woman in history to win the artist of the decade award in the 90s and then the female artist of the millennium award. Whitney was bigger in 80s and she didn't dominate the decade anyway, they were MJ overall and then Madonna for females. Let's be realistic. 90s belong to Mariah. OSD was also recognized like The Song of the decade of 90s. Not only she surpassed Whitney's IWALY with this song but She also matched IWALY's record with "We belong together" in 2005 , a song that she obviously wrote and composed like all her songs , and she did it without the help of the blockbuster and not with a cover. WBT was also recognized as another song of the decade for her. No one could stop Mariah in the 90s, she also had at least a number one for every year in the 90s. Facts are facts.

The base singer doesn’t really sing I don’t think. He speaks on songs. Maybe he sings background but really really soft. Boys 2 men is probably the best vocals of any boy group ever. Excluding the base guy they all have great range and tone, and Wanye the lead singer ha a very distinct voice - king of runs.. and as for backup singers, of course Maria started as a backup singer for Brenda star, who helped her get her first deal.

Here’s the issue with her in GOSPEL. Her grandma was a pastor and Mariah NEVER WENT TO CHURCH💔That was what she needed and she would’ve shut that whole borough down, but nobody cared about her being in church, which would’ve helped her with her Gospel❗️She was with her dad on Sundays and he would rather hear the radio instead of listening to the RADIO HE CREATED (her)💔💔She said smoking took octaves of her voice and this is what she’s left with🤎🤎
