As a Demi Bi woman who has been together with my wife for 39 years ... my evidence for this opinion is rather old ... but here it is: I have kissed both men and women. With women it felt more collaborative. More of a giving act on both sides with less expectations other than just enjoying our kissing which could or not extend further onto sexual activities. With men it always felt like a direct warm up to sexual activities that were expected to occur rather quickly in succession from the commencement of our kissing!

This made me slightly sad... But hear me out. This was very wholesome and lovely, a great video. As alayna said, so many important points were addressed. My slight sadness comes from the envy of how how polite and curtious the men were to eachother and how they had very good boundaries and consent. I'm envious because I wish more men would treat women like that and not assume we want something and make sure we are comfortable and not assume we want them to kiss or touch us (like these men were with eachother). I don't have the same experience of how these men were to eachother (nor do my hetero/bi female friends). Can this video be an example of how men should interact with men and women, I'm envious of the respect displayed by these men to each other! I wish men would interact with me like this! it was a great video, I guess it triggered how me nor any of my female friends tend to be treated like this by straight/bi men, it sets a good president tho, to any men please apply the same kind of respect to women!

Didn't find it creepy at all! It's lovely to see people willing to try something! Even if they find they're not into it later, it's a really cool thing to explore! I'd also like to add: For so many years, masculinity has been defined by "no touchy" and just very stiff and rigid (and often toxic) traits. So to see people absolutely smashing out of those traits to something healthier and more explorative with safe and consenting boundaries is absolutely what got me so giddy about this video in the first place. :D
@tals.89602 жыл бұрын
Thank you for talking about aesthetic and platonic attraction! I feel like in general mainstream society, there's this false idea that all attraction is romantic/sexual, that men can't look at women without it being sexual, that men can't compliment women (or even just think to themselves positive things) about their look, their style, without it being flirting or "hitting on" them. I honestly don't know where I sit in terms of my sexual attraction to anyone. I think I am somewhere on the ace spectrum, demisexual. Demisexual when it comes to women, really unsure whether I could be attracted to a man. (There's your comphet right there). But! I do know that I have strong aesthetic / platonic attraction to women all the time (and sometimes men). I *love* people's styles, their fashion. Every day I see so many people I wish I could take a picture of, just to appreciate their style and add it to my knowledge of what styles exist out there in the world. What beauty, and awesomeness, and creativity, and coolness exists out in the world. But I'm far too timid to talk to women, even just to say "hey, I really like your style. I really like your dress. I really like your dyed hair. May I take a photo?" Because of this overarching stereotype that all attraction is sexual, all compliments are an effort to flirt romantically/sexually, and that all men are pigs. :/ Aesthetic and platonic attraction are real, folks!!

I have to say, I've started making more compliments to people, just saying that I liked their hair, style, makeup, whatever I liked about them and everyone was pleasantly surprised I would say. I just always made sure I wasn't commenting on anyone's body, like you look skinny or something, because it could be triggering and that it was a genuine compliment. And I found, that as long as there are no expectations after the compliment, everyone enjoys it and one even said it made their day. So maybe just go up to these people, make that compliment but without any expectations and if an conversation comes up afterwards, maybe you have the chance to ask for a photo.

haha i saw this video and was like what?? but i guess its helping w toxic masculinity and guys being more comfortable showing their affection to each other without being seen as “gay” like redefining societal norms so that’s cool. one of my guy friends was talking about his “bromances” and how they gave each other sentimental gifts to show how they appreciated each other and i thought that was sweet
@bingbongalong2 жыл бұрын
@Ville Whoa, why so hostile? Toxic masculinity is pretty obviously a thing. It just means that within the gender construct in our society, men are generally socialized to have certain perspectives and behaviors that are harmful to themselves and others, mainly coming from the belief that men are superior to women. So someone with toxic masculinity judges things associated with women/femininity as weak and inferior, such as having emotions, expressing affection or mutual respect, asking instead of demanding, being or seeming gay, etc. But to be clear, people socialized as women can have or support toxic masculinity as well, it's just not as ingrained by society. And people socialized as men can NOT have toxic masculinity or have it to a lesser extent, but this generally has to come from unlearning the toxic masculinity they were taught. It's something we all have to work on together!

I loved the questions you asked at the end. When I was still convincing myself that I was straight but that I had just had bad kisses with guys my bestfirend a girl offered to kiss me so I could experience a good kiss. I was sooooooo uncomfortable with the idea that I froze and just let her do whatever. I can look back and see that I was terrified it would confirm what I had been worried about in the back of my mind and if I fell into the kiss Id fall for her. I have kissed multiple people of both genders and a few who identified as she/they and I can say the major difference is actually within myself and my own comfort. First kisses with guys that I initiated were fun but nothing like other people had described kissing. The first kiss with a girl however that we both initiated was everything I had been missing. She walked me to my car and said "I want to ask you something, I think you know what I want to ask..." and I instantly without hesitation had this wave of confidence and said "you want to kiss me." I stated it like it was a fact. I smirked and pulled her close and she didn't hesitate we kissed like we had both been craving it. Nothing compares to a kiss when you really want to kiss someone and they really want to kiss you. I realized I was GAY GAY then because that want to kiss her was more like a need stronger than any desire I had felt before. I wish I had listened to my body sooner because for the longest time I just thought something was wrong with me and that I just didn't like kissing or people in general. The key to having a kiss feel different for me is actually wanting to kiss the person.

Here's me involuntarily saying "Negotiation... negotiation... it's called negotiation..." at the 10:32 mark. Edit: Oh wait, I was actually coming down here to type a comment about the content of the video rather than just outing myself as being familiar with certain communities. Yeah, 'famliar', let's go with that. I have been sex positive in principle for decades, but I've never been very promiscuous. I am supportive of people doing what they want to do, enthusiastic informed consent obtained, and have no guilt for whatever it is they want to do. Whatever gender. However many. There are some conversations about safety, legality, and all of that, but let's gloss over that for the moment and just assume that we aren't going too far down that particular rabbit hole, it would derail what I want to talk about here. I have many friends who identify as women who are in various places on the sexual preferences scatter plot chart (is there a "Sexual Preferences Scatter Plot chart? There has to be, right?) who share a fascination/interest/enthusiasm with boys kissing. To be CLEAR... not boys, as in minors... the term "boys kissing" among those I know is an enthusiastic battle cry, taken up on occasion, when the suggestion has been made that perhaps "this person" and "that person", both being male (the "boys" in question) might kiss. The loudly spoken, or even shouted phrase, "boys kissing!" or even "are boys going to kiss?!" has been heard more than a few times at gatherings I've attended, and to the best of my recollection it has always been uttered by women. Men might show interest too, but the women are vociferous. I've never gotten the impression of icky, creepy energy from it. I think that's why the word "boy" was chosen... it sort of brings in an element of innocence, as if to rein in the possibility of what might happen, or at least, what those enthusiastic speakers are enthusiastic about seeing... kissing. Not groping. Not sex. Not stripping naked. Just some kissing. If it gets steamy, well, that will get some hoots 'n hollers, but then it needs to wrap up or move to a private space (usually, depending on the specific type of gathering...) because the whole point of this is to encourage men to be comfortable showing non-sexual affection (not directly sexual, but a smidgin' of arousal is okay, maybe even great) IN SITUATIONS WHERE CONSENTING ADULTS HAVE ALREADY SET THE RULES THAT THIS BEHAVIOR IS ACCEPTABLE among other pairings of individuals (there is a separate conversation about PDAs and which behaviors are acceptable where, and by whom. As above, I want to side-step that conversation for now). It's important to some people that "these settings" be supportive for all. Not just men kissing women, not just women kissing women, but also men kissing men. As a guy who likes guys... I get it. I like watching men kiss from time to time. But this group of women include a percentage of individuals who identify as 100% straight as well as a smaller percentage who identify as 100% lesbian. I only point this out because it is not a phenomenon I've found strictly among women who identify a certain way, or even those who might find men interesting at all sexually, but all sorts. ... it's hard to find the right word to sum up the other part. Let me type some words to give you an idea of what I mean... Jackson Pollack style throwing words on the screen and we'll see what it ends up looking like: Patriarchy. Women have been objectified, idolized, and criticized for showing physical affection forever, now a man is doing it. I'm not the one 'performing for a crowd', he is, and I get to sit in the seat of the person judging/enjoying/criticizing/in control of my experience of the situation... and I get to express how I feel about it (as long as it's not harsh). They aren't staring at me, we're staring at them. Let's objectify men for a change. Let's do it better. Let's show them how to be enthusiastic without being creepy. I'm safe, they aren't all staring at me, I can relax and enjoy the moment while the focus is on people who embody the traits of those who have stared/judged/objectified me my entire life. This is the world I want to live in, where people can be encouraging and complimentary without turning everything into something that is overtly lecherous/creepy/dehumanizing. Those guys look hot. Would I like to be with them, kissing the two of them at the same time... I don't know... I don't need to know... I can just watch with no expectation of me needing to perform for anyone... but you know... the possibility is there... so I can just consider it without feeling pressured or expected to do anything at all. Nobody in the room is looking at me right now, thank God. That person over there is really enjoying this, I like them... I guess I like this too. So... what have we got up there? Patriarchy. Societal expectations. Some peer pressure to 'be enthusiastic about the thing everyone else is being enthusiastic about. Internalized fear and guilt around sexuality. Internalized pressure to act a certain way in certain settings. Relief when the fear, guilt, and pressure are removed. Freedom to consider what you want when not dealing with fear, guilt, and pressure. 'Screw you guys, let's see how you like it when we objectify you' doesn't really come into it within the contexts that I've experienced this behavior. I bet it's there for some people. It has to be, right? It's human. Probably under the surface, since the general vibe in the situations I'm referring to is uplifting, not degrading. Anyway, I love that you did a video on boys kissing boys... I know, I know, sorry, old habit... men kissing men. It was fun, and like you, I was impressed at several of the things they "did right" in the video. I almost starting crying happy tears when they asked the guy, "So, when did you realize you were straight?" Best. Question. Ever. Thank you and best wishes Alayna, I appreciate a lot of your content, so as long as you enjoy making it, please do! :)

In my family, everyone kissed other family members on the mouth (Covid put a kabosh on that and I don’t know if it will return). The whole extended family was raised that way in the same way some families hug. We kissed our parents goodbye whenever we left and goodnight. Siblings the same. Not in these way these men were, but there is a hand on the shoulder or arm. We also would easily throw our legs over any family member sitting on the sofa next to us if we wanted to lie on the sofa. We might also take the other person’s hand temporarily or walk with our arms linked. This was such a norm for our family that I found other families being so physically distant to be odd. Had to train my ex-husband on how to be close and have closeness NOT be sexual (not be an invitation for sex-gosh, the expectation that would follow by a simple touch was unnerving). His family was so enamored by my family easy affection that they-including his extended family-all learned to hug and be closer.

Thank you for sharing this! My generation was not exactly taught multiple forms of empowerment nor assertiveness and boundaries. More defense. But...conversation, preferences, honesty regarding teaching/programming/discomfort, conscious outside-the-box experiences for growth,, consent...this is empowerment at its finest! And, it is fun and beautiful. Thanks!

I used to ID as bi and I’ve kissed men before. Men are definitely a little rougher to kiss especially If they have stubble. Not bad, but just not my thing. Kissing women and one afab nb person, however, has been the best experience of my life, they are soft as hell, it feels fluid and beautiful. But maybe I just say this bc I’m a lesbian actually lmao

I'm a straight man and I wouldn't mind giving this kind of affection to other men, like I don't know why people make it such a deal when it is normal for us humans to show affection to each other this way since ancient times without caring about if the other person is the same gender as us or not

Men needed to be able to show physical affection to each other! I saw a study recently that stated there are straight men that have had no physical connection with a single human for years because they don't have a romantic partner. This is tragic!! Women are allowed to show physical affection to friends without stigma. Men should be afforded the same. ❤️
@yanana7 Жыл бұрын
I identify as straight and I have kissed other straight women. The difference in kissing men and women for me is that with women it is more sensual and more about feeling eachother for longer... I hope that makes sense. With men it's like they are in a hurry to move on to other stuff and with women it is like "let's enjoy this moment for longer" 😁

My faves are Dallas and Brian. 🥰 I'm not surprised that the guys defying expectations of "masculinity" (dyed hair and nail polish) were super comfortable with it. (I honestly wouldn't think they're straight if I were to meet them either!) Omar (NASA hoodie bloke) and Don were the ones that gave me 'straight but chill' vibes! I also didn't feel the discomfort from them that I got from the lad with the bandanna, for example.

I am a straight, Canadian female, Christian, leftish conservative but follow you because you are hilarious while helping me to understand more about the LBTQ+ community. I don't believe my personal views or ideals should be forced upon others but we should listen, learn and love with open hearts. While I may not always agree with your view, I appreciate you and the insight. Life is an entwining of views, agreeing or disagreeing but taking the time to listen and by doing so, learning. I also believe in bodily autonomy, for all, but especially people with uteruses who may have to make challenging decisions.

I had watched this Cut video before but it was more fun watching you watch it! I agree with all of the points you made. They made sure they captured a respectful, non-homophobic set of dude kisses! No laughing hysterically as soon as they stopped or weird comments. They were understandably a bit cautious, if it really was their first male kiss, but also it's on cam with a crew around them. I feel like in real life situations men often kiss harder, wetter, and stronger as it is the lead-in to sex. Here they knew that was not the case. Oh yeah, I'm a gay cis man BTW.
