Unfortunate that Vincent only does his tours Tues-Wed-Thurs, would love to enjoy his company. When my husband and I come to Paris near the end of April next year, the only free day we'll be able to do a food tour is Saturday before we begin a seven day barge tour the next day in the Champagne region with French Country Waterways. Would you have any other recommendations for a neighborhood food tour in the Montmartre or St Germain areas that operate on a Saturday? We love watching your videos and seeing how much you enjoy eating all those wonderful foods! Your entire series of videos are such a wealth of information to help us prepare for our first time visit to France. Already looking forward to doing your recommended Paris and Montmartre by Night Tour in a 2CV. Thanking you in advance for any further suggestions you may wish to share!

Hello *Les Frenchies,* Happy to see u again. No, the term "viennoiserie" doesn't come from Viennese bakers who came to settle in Paris (even if there's a connection, read more). The French cook of Marie-Antoinette (who herself was an Austrian) gave them this name. It seems to me that's J.C Doyen, squire of the queen at Trianon, cousin of the painter Gabriel-François Doyen and lover of Elisabeth Vigée Lebrun and who was Marie-Antoinette's chef for more than ten years. The queen was nostalgic for her country. To please her, his cook was inspired by the Austrian bakery rolls, which had the shape of a croissant and were sold by two Austrian bakers (Ernest Schwartzer and August Zand) recently established in Paris. However, both bakers offered simple bread, not as good quality as French bread, which was shaped like a croissant which, in addition, had a rounded and full shape at each end (a "C" shape), and not cut into a point like the French croissant. And that's all. The Parisian croissant recipe (puff pastry containing a layer of dough, a layer of butter, a layer of dough, etc., and rolled up) was created by this cook. We then named "viennoiserie" to this recipe's derivatives (croissant, pain au chocolat, chausson fourré, etc.). Contrary to what their name may suggest, the "viennoiseries" are, therefore, totally French and even Parisian. Peace, folks. ☮😉
@vincentdupont315 Жыл бұрын
The fact is, that historians are not realy agree each other.... many answers about that. But what you write is a part of true and it's acceptable. Thank you
@j-loosenfout67 Жыл бұрын
@@vincentdupont315 The truth is, "croissant viennois" is just bread, nothing else, lol. Like the "crème anglaise" isn't English, the "viennoiseries" aren't Viennese. 😊😉

@@vincentdupont315 then why has the Parisian government asked for help from the French government? Perhaps you have not experienced it, but I have family in Paris and they are saying the opposite of what you are saying. Perhaps make a video on precautions to take instead of saying it is doesn't exist. It wouldn't stop me from travelling to Paris, but at least people are made aware and can take precautions not to be inconvenienced nor bring them back home, regardless of the destination, because they do exist everywhere, not just Paris or France in general.
